Humble...

The other Humble posters left off Jason Jack.
Kyle Stringer was also the punter for Boise St. for a few years. He went to Seattle Seahawks training camp.

And Leo Mills was an amazing player that wasted his talent away with dumb actions at Arizona.

texasduffer - No problem.............

Except, there are no other cheaters from my school.

This thread is about best players from your highschool.

Also, speaking of cheaters and Jackie Sherril. I have I no problem removing Darren Lewis from any list of best backs at A&M for being a cheater. Lets not forget about Greg Hill too. Furthermore, if Courtney Lewis, Derek Farmer, Mike Goodson, or Chris Alexander had OL's like Hill and Lewis had, we might be handing them a Doak Walker award instead of handing them the remote control to change the channel on new years day.

14 pages and no one is from La Porte? Guess I'll do it.

Shaun Rogers/DT - tu/ Lions & Browns
Montrell Lowe/RB - 3 yr starter at Purdue
Chris Anderson/WR - Colorado
Quentin Castille/RB- at Nebraska
George Anderson/DE - NC State

We also had a great DT prospect named Paul Broussard. He commited to LSU out of high school in 99 but had to go JC. He commited to Miss. State in 01 but was tragically murdered at a truck stop while riding with his father, a long haul trucker, just a few weeks before reporting to MSU. He was as good if not better than Shaun Rogers. He was laid to rest in his La Porte jersey. Gone but not forgotten.

Best athletes to come out of EHS were Broderick Jones, Vincent Marshall, and Dante Ellis.

Vincent had an excellent career at a WR at UH and now plays in the CFL. He would be a great NFL player if he was bigger.

BJ was a spectacular athlete. He was also a spectacular idiot. He washed out at West Virginia in less than a month. He was their highest-ranked recruit of that class.

Dante was an amazing DB. Would have played in the league for sure. But he damaged a nerve during our playoff game against Jacksonville and still can't use his right arm.

And, yes, Graham is easily the most successful. But he is not the best ATHLETE to come out of EHS.

Arlington Lamar HS

4 NFL players that I know of:
Reggie Harrell WR - TCU - NYJ, CHI
Scott McGarrahan DB - New Mexico - GB, MIA, TEN, SD, DET
Joe Walker DB - Nebraska - TEN, IND
Mitch Willis DL - SMU - OAK, ATL, DAL

The most famous athlete from Lamar though without a doubt is Jeremy Wariner the Olympic 400 meters guy who has 3 gold medals and a silver in the last 2 Olympics.

JJ Joe was a big name QB that came out of Lamar in the early 90's and played for Baylor, I believe he still holds many records there.

Also in my class Matt Gurley was a RB who played for A&M as a Fullback in the mid/late 80's.

Yeah I think he does. Strake has gotten even better since switching to UIL. Gary was definitely the better of the two so I don't think it matters that much.

Oh, of course. I wasn't suggesting Gary's high school-aged son would be considered as the best to come out of Pius.

Do you know if any of the other private schools are talking about UIL? I thought once we made the move the flood gates would open up across the state. But I think we're still the only one.

No I haven't heard of any others talking of moving to UIL. I'm not sure that many have good enough football and basketball programs to survive. Strake is sort of unique in that aspect. Pius has been great recently, but could only make it at the 3A or maybe 4A level. Dallas Jesuit may be UIL, but I'm not sure.
