Well, I only got 111 reps. The deadlift just totally gassed me even though I broke it up into sets of 5's until I hit 30. After that I had to do singles. The wall balls frustrated the heck out of me because my legs and arms
Felt fine. I just couldn't breath. Oh well.

and we can safely assume double unders will be a part of the equation

The real question is will we have DB thrusters or barbell thrusters?
I worked on DB Thrusters last Saturday and they are brutal. at 6'2" and 175 lbs, I really could only do them in sets of 6-8 while getting below parallel and getting a good and controlled lock out overhead. Sets of 10 were really tough. As a comparison, I did quite a few barbell thrusters at 115 yesterday and those were definitely easier.

We did 15.5 with dumbells last week. I feel your pain. WAY worse than it was with a barbell.

I did more DB thrusters today after our metcon and I didn't want anything to do with more than 8 thrusters at a time!

90 thrusters and 350 dubs. Will be The most I've ever done of each movement in one sitting if I finish.

I read 17.5 and see 90 thrusters. Ugh!

Not worried about DU's. Been mastering those since i was on the 5th grade jump rope team.

Yeah my biggest concern isn't the thrusters. it's failing on the large number of double unders when I get fatigued.

I would have rather had a time cap at 20 min or so, rather than 40 min. This is going to take forever.

Well, I didn't get time capped! 35:38 Rx.

I was able to do all of the thrusters unbroken, and then just chip away at the DUs. I must have jumped at least 700 times to get it done, but in the end I'm satisfied.

My cardio is so ****, felt better working then I did between rounds when my head was spinning. Didn't help that I did box squats at 365 first.

I'm ashamed to say that I didn't finish. Unbroken on thrusters for 1st 5 rounds and then broke them up into 5/4's. I simply cannot do double unders. I was doing single, double under, single, double under but could only string about 5 together. I puked a bit after round 8 and got all the way to 13 double unders on the 10th round.

I may try this again but this one hurt and I know I'm gonna be sore AF!

For those wondering... I am going to wait until the submission deadline for 17.5 (or most likely Tuesday morning) to rank the results from 17.4. I'm hoping in that time htownag will input his scores for both workouts. If not, I will drop him from the rankings and rank everyone else.

Unbroken thruster thru 7, 5/4 in rds 8-10

The biggest thing on this one is the breathing....gets really hard after 3-4 rds

Got some good ideas on how to improve monday

19:24 Rx. Only two fails on DU. Broke Thrusters up 5/4 from the start.

Sets 1-3 = fun
Sets 4-5 = difficult
Sets 6-7 = no more fun
Sets 8-9 = can't breath
Set 10 = death by heart attack

I didn't feel like I had any energy from the start. Debated on stopping after round 3 because I just wasn't feeling right but figured it'd be good to get a baseline for a retest.

15:27 RX. Went unbroken on the double unders on all but the 9th round. 5-4 on the thrusters on all be round 8. Nice and steady on the thrusters. Just wish I could go a little faster on them.

29:28 Rx. My strategy (min 1 9 thrusters, min2 35 dubs and so on...) blew up in my face after round 4. I was super on the fence about doing 17.5. Said F it. Pride didn't let me skip it.

I skipped 17.5. 17.4 did a number on my lower back... Does anyone have a recommendation for a belt?

I'm definitely in worse shape this year than last, and it pisses me off. Serious lack of effort (attendance) for the past six months. I'm now incredibly motivated to get back in the gym and get back in fighting shape. Not an excuse, but it's crazy the amount of time that young kids consume.

My Open performance this year was pathetic and eye opening. In that sense, the Open is beneficial for tracking how much you have improved, but also how much you haven't. Next year...
