Fully built 4L60e, Wendell's Transmission in Baytown is doing all the work.

My trans went out under normal driving also, when I lost OD on the way to my parents it was having a hard time staying in it...got to a red light and it never came back.

Well...this morning I had to take a loan out to get this fugger fixed, I guess establishing a credit history is good though.

I sent my PCM to Nelson for a retune this afternoon, and called up Circle D to see if they had any converters in stock but unfortunately they did not.

Also, if you're wanting to go balls to the wall, a built auto is the way to go. Especially if you're going to be running the 1320. Can handle more power, and are more consistent.

Of course, you're not "one" with the road that way, but then you can just get a cheap DD with a stick for that.

30,000, Rob's post pretty much sums it up, the T56 isn't that strong, not very consistent, not to mention I would have a long throw on it. There's a guy with a T56 behind a LS with a couple of snails on it who's close to breaking into 10's, I'm rather certain it's a 4.8 though.

By the time I can afford doing a turbo the cost of getting a trans that can withstand the power won't be a big issue. I just finished my sophomore year...I still need a vehicle to DD besides my toy.

My plan was to save up enough money for a transmission then to start saving for a DD and replace the trans whenever it went. I really expected the trans to last longer than it did, heck I wasn't even comfortable with my financial situation before my trans decided to hate life.

Just got back from Circle D, picked up the stall, flexplate, and trans cooler. He threw in the crank bolts and a t-shirt for free, hell yes!

The trans itself is $2100, the rest is labor, fittings/lines, and the parts list at Circle D's

I don't know I may be way off. But it seems like back when I was following the TBSS builds, guys were spending less than that for 500-600hp builds on the 4L70e. There was a place called phoenix transmissions that was supposed to be one of the best. Granted that's in the dfw area (weatherford).

Bigrob may remember otherwise since he probably actually built his.

Rebuild or replaced, I was looking at about $2k for another T56 in my old V.

Mine was from RPM in the Indianapolis area, installed, was $3920.

It was built as bulletproof as they could make the AWD trans on the TBSS at the time (Level 6, they now make a Level 7) -$ 2895

Yank SSTB3600 (3600 RPM flash) converter -$725

Installed -$300

I drove out there, saw all the Vettes they were swapping 4L70's and 80's into from their manuals (even a brand new off the lot Z06 from Texas) while they took my stock unit out and put the built one in. It, alone, dropped my 1/4mile times by .8 seconds when launched properly. (Because of the stall, not the trans)

Well shat, just spoke with the shop and he was under the impression that we were rebuilding my trans, not building up a newer 4L60e and swapping it in like I thought the plan was.

So now we're just going to play it by ear and see what will have to be done, just from a quick google I'm seeing that the input shafts are different along with a few other things

Not really far off, both 4L60e trans. I think he thought I already had the newer trans.

I did get the all the quotes in writing though.

I may run by the shop tomorrow and see what a newer 4L60e core charge would be...shouldn't be anything over $175

Need a new starter though, the starter gear is slightly touching the flexplate when it's running sometimes causing a tick
