They'll be open for another week most likely, I think I took a better vid on my camera but it was just easier to upload vid from my phone.

I need to buy a tensioner off a f body and I'm waiting on a battery tray from gmpartsdirect.com...never ordering from them again. I bought from them on the 31st and it's supposed to be here the 12th

I went to that 2 yrs ago. Was pretty weaksauce. LOTS of stock trucks. A couple with decent power, but still ran 13's and 14's after insane burnouts.

Only 1 or 2 "fast" trucks there.

As for open headers, etc. I loved the way my TBSS sounded with the big cam and open e-cutouts. Because, racetruck.

Yeah from what I've read the first two years most the trucks out there were pretty much stock...last year there were at least three 9 second trucks. More F/I trucks ran than N/A trucks...were maybe 4 or 5 trucks that ran higher than a 14.5. Mine was one of them coming in at 16.93 at 79 MPH lol

Edit: There was one truck in the 8's and it wasn't Flaco

Maybe Kurt will make it out there from the Georgetown area with his 8s TBSS.

Hell, I'd love to drive down for it. 5.3L of stock Silverado, beeches!

<laughing/crying face> How did I miss that gem

Yesterday one of my spark plug wires broke, I called Taylor up this morning and they stood behind their warranty no questions asked. Thumbs up for a good company IMO

Fu** Gmpartsdirect, *******s take two weeks to get the battery tray sent to my house and when it finally gets here they tell UPS to hand the package over to USPS delaying the delivery of the package.

At least your battery tray wasn't on the UPS truck that wrecked on 45 last night.

Can't a Toyota Tundra with the 5.7 put up pretty good numbers completely stock?

Hell, my old Chevy with the 6.0 does 0-60 in about 7.5-8secs completely stock and ragged out, too.

If you want fast, you need power to the ground, so a true AWD or full time 4WD truck would be best. The're not easy to find at an affordable price.

I'm sure they can stock but the aftermarket for those engines isn't as developed as the ls engine aftermarket. Sure they have the TRD supercharger but think of all the stuff you can to LS engines.

The truck engines are pretty much the same, differences are just the aluminum block, intake manifold, and accessory drive. As for the AWD, think about the SSS. The AWD ones were turds compared to the RWD trucks, I'd rather just have a 2WD with some goodies to assist with traction.

Now does anyone know where I can find the park/neutral ground? It's the only trans related wire I haven't hooked up and my truck isn't coming out of park at all.
MouthBQ98

don't they publish the wiring diagrams in the service manuals? I know mine has one. Find out what model that wiring harness is...

Also what transmission you have on that thing?

FWIW, I am pretty sure AWD with sufficient power will perform better in short runs, if the 2WD is slipping or burning out on the launch. If the AWD is underpowered, and can't approach burning all 4 wheels, then it will slow the truck down, and 2WD not pushed too hard would be better.
Silvy

I have a Haynes manual in front of me and it doesn't have anything about park/neutral ground in any of the wiring diagrams.

For now a Truetrac, Caltracs, and slicks would be enough for my truck but if it ever gets a turbo (in the plans), I'll get a 4 link setup.

Silvy SS's were ALL dogs. They left too much "truck" in them, unlike the Lightning, which is why stock-for-stock, the L will ass-rape the SSS. And not GOOD ass-rape, either.

As for AWD not spinning all 4:

Vid from a TAMC g2g from Jan/2010

I could spin all 4 Nitto 420S's on dry pavement, from time to time.

Dude, why didnt you just buy an old six cyl f body? Youre gonna have to make ~ twice the power to make the same time.
Silvy
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
I totally agree with the L vs. SSS statement...the AWD versions were just even worse lol

I'm not sure v6 f bodies are running but I doubt they're in the 14's...I haven't even done any engine mods

Is that 4L60E gonna take the power you want to throw at it?
MouthBQ98
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
It'll take stock power. I have a 60 in the suburban behind a 5.3, and it has 220K miles all original.

I wouldn't bet on it lasting if anything "special" gets added to that 5.3. My 6.0 would have destroyed a 4L60E pretty quickly.
Silvy

Cam, stall, and a mild 4L80E will happen all at the same time
