Can't believe that game came down to Altuve's challenge call. Went from an inning ending called strikeout to 5 runs including a grand slam. Goes to show how much power umpires have (had).
Can't believe this highlight gets me excited.
Was at the game and just assumed Altuve wasted a challenge. What a swing of events his tap of the helmet was. Could have been the same the night before if Walker hadn't been an idiot.

McCullers will always be an Astros legend for his postseason performance in 2017 and I respect the dude trying to come back from all the injuries but I'm not sad to see him go.

Alvarez is probably worth more in trade value than he is as a piece of our day to day lineup. He's the only threat we have, and there is no reason he should have a meaningful at bat for the rest of the season at this point. We have no other legitimate threats to keep teams from walking him any time he has a chance to have a big hit.
Boras convincing Pena not to re-sign changed the future dynamics for the Stros. With a depleted farm system you basically have a 2.5 year window to compete. Some of that could be wiped out by a labor dispute.
If you don't feel like you can be a WS contender in the next two years then probably makes sense to trade Yordan and JP3 each for a massive prospect haul along with Walker, Hader, etc. and just go into the pain tunnel for a few years while you stack top 3 picks and try to build the next dynasty.
Only other option is for Crane to open the checkbook and head into luxury tax territory to elevate the team into competitors for the next couple of years.

Completely agree. Feel like we'd have won AL West last year and this year with either Luhnow or Click as GM.
