1130AM UPDATE: Trends continue to look more favorable for severe weather this afternoon/evening.

Storms are possible as early as around 5PM west of DFW that would move east through the Metroplex. Large hail, damaging wind gusts, and isolated tornadoes are possible. #dfwwx #txwx pic.twitter.com/BeSsL7D8hJ

...what happened to small/normal size hail? Does Texas not do that anymore?
A cold front will move into N TX this afternoon and evening with the chance of storms. Some could be severe with large hail and damaging winds. Low tornado threat mainly NE TX. Storm time window in N TX: 5pm-3am. https://t.co/m2JVBbCPID #NBCDFWWeather pic.twitter.com/V6eXNVvQps

Maybe that is the case but that graphic is about 5 hrs old... As any texan knows that is an eternity by weather standards. Hope he is right though. Regardless looks like I'll be getting mulch bags ready.
My house needs some hail damage on the other side to even it out
12:30 Update: Here's the updated timing for today/tonight.
— NWS Fort Worth (@NWSFortWorth) May 3, 2021
Storms could develop as early as around 5PM along the cold front, then move across North Texas this evening. The threat then expands into Central and East Texas tonight. #txwx #dfwwx pic.twitter.com/3bkKyxR5aw
Sometimes we see the ingredients for severe weather coming together days in advance. Other times (like today) it's only hours.

What's going on today? The culprit is this cold front being 6 hours slower. Now a more volatile combo of instability & lift occurs over us.#dfwwx #ctxwx pic.twitter.com/qAnX4UhXrw
Literally looks like a boot that is face stomping the f^ck out of Texas.AW 1880 said:
This graphic sucks!
With sunny skies and increasing moisture, instability is increasing along and west of the I-35 corridor. From the GOES-16 satellite, the increasing and darkening green colors show where the atmosphere is becoming most unstable. The cap continues to hold...for now. #dfwwx #ctxwx pic.twitter.com/atBAQLZ8Qn

already got the tornado watchEwingBarnes said:
A watch will be coming shortly with first storms likely popping just west of DFW. All modes of severe weather likely. The further north/northeast you go the higher the risk of severe weather.
