Coming into town tomorrow for OPAS, we always try to go to new places.

What's y'all's suggestions for an early but quality dinner? Coming in from south side of town.

What's avg price for De Baca?

We're not anti-mexican food.

But it certainly isn't our first, second, third, or fourth choice.

Here's a few off the top of my head that shouldn't be too far out of the way.

  • Marfa
  • Casa do Brazil
  • De Baca
  • Christophers
  • Republic
  • Porters
  • Casa Mangiare
  • Napa Flats/Napa Flats Bistro
  • Luigis
$50-$100/person for De Baca.

Had planned on going to Red's but traffic on 6 between Hempstead and Navasota due to a big rig accident delayed us about 45 minutes so we dropped into Mojo and it was great.

Wife had a puffy taco and I had the Royale and El Camino split a side of guac.

Two comments I'd make:
1) Anyway to add a little pico with the guac side order? - all we got was crushed avocado...
2) There was a nice young lady working the register but she was TOO quite had to get her to repeat everything she said multiple times.

Thanks so much for the feedback and your business!

Our guac recipe is very straightforward and simple to allow the fresh avocado to shine. Lime, garlic, salt and some spices.

I've let my team know about the quiet young lady. It would be helpful to know when you stopped in…? Thanks!

Receipt says 6:08 and that Mar M was our server. If she's a young black woman, that matches.

Super nice, but VERY quite with the kitchen noise and music.

Taco Thursday at mojo tortilla is a banger. Highly recommend

Tried Mojo Tortilla this morning. Tacos were excellent. Salsas were so-so, but I'm biased towards the creamy vs. more watery ones.

Flyrod thanks so much! We got ya covered on the creamy salsa too! Just ask for a side of the jalapeno garlic sauce. It's that creamy food truck style hot sauce you're looking for. I love that stuff too.

Indeed it is. That's why we default serve the milder ones for most tastes and have the other one in the queue for those who want larger doses of capsaicin lol

Glad to know, thanks!

Ok I feel like an idiot; had the Mr. Brightside and that salsa was already in it I see now. The other was the plain old egg and potato so I'll get the creamy salsa for that next time. Can't speak to the mystery freebie y'all threw in because I gave it to a hungry student.

Horseradish for sinus congestion. Beats everything else…ask anyone with East European grandparents.

A wonderful condiment I'm not sure I've ever seen in a local restaurant here. Possibly in one of The Republic's steak sauces.

The local restaurants where I have gotten prime rib have had a creamy horseradish available (BJ's, Texas Roadhouse, Outback, Saltgrass). I'm not sure if they have regular horseradish as well.

And don't forget the Horsey sauce at Arby's. jk

I've had it in Asian restaurants but I don't recall if I had it in any in B/CS.

Girl I dated in college had never had sushi. I took her out for sushi…. She thought the wasabi was guac, and before I could stop her, took a big ole bite.

Fun times…

Yes, the regular is what I meant. A few places, like Arby's, mix it with goop.

Casa do Brasil has both straight horseradish and creamy. You just have to ask for it.

You can ask for the raw horseradish at Texas Roadhouse.

I'm losing track of all the "you just have to ask for it" for various places in this thread.

Put. It. On. The. Dang. Menu.
