Agreed. Going to wait another week or two before trying Javis.
Enjoyed lunch at Javis yesterday. I got kids taco plate…1 taco rice and beans…hubs got Sunrise enchiladas with rice and beans. Food was very good! Margarita was excellent. Service was also very good. We'll be back.
I had lunch today at Javi's and everything was great. It It is really nice in there - my friend and I were both shocked how nice the atmosphere was. We weren't expecting it to still look like Red Lobster, but they have really elevated the atmosphere in that place.
We both had enchiladas and they were delicious. Service was great Can't wait to go back and try fajitas for dinner!
Regarding getting in and out - you can either come in through the hotel parking lot from University, OR you can get there if you come down Lincoln from the Texas Avenue side. Looks like they have a few more weeks before they get that intersection open. But it's well worth the trouble to get there.

Had Javi's last week for dinner and also really enjoyed it. Fajitas were great and good margs at reasonable prices. Service had a few small kinks, to be expected, but we'll absolutely go back. And agree on the atmosphere, surprisingly somewhat upscale.
What's y'all's take on shipwreck? Love it or hate it?
It's in the regular lunch date rotation with my wife. Lunch specials are good.

I've always enjoyed it but haven't been since they changed locations. The boilin' pot was my go-to.

will chime in with a very brief Javi's review. Food was good. Most impressive part, to me, was the menu pricing. I will venture back and try additional items.
While running errands stopped into Taco Casa. I thought the food was better, burrito was so big I couldn't finish it.

Anyone else participating in this?
We did Brazos Proper Texas Kitchen last night.
Food was great.
They were out of two of the entree menu items. Victoria, the manager said truck didn't arrive.
The Chicken Fried Chicken Breast and Porterhouse Pork Chops weren't available.
The salads were huge. Victoria also mentioned going forward those would probably be more of side salads.
My wife had the Grilled Salmon with Charred Texas Sweet Corn Puree
I got them to substitute the Blackened Red Snapper off the main menu.
Both were really good. We each preferred the one we had ordered. :-)
My wife had the Strawberry Cream Pie and I had the Bourbon Pecan Bread Pudding.
Both of those were good as well.
Cost for those was $110 total.
We augmented with a bottle of Conondrum White Blend that paired nicely with everything.
Planning to go to Casa Mangiare next Sunday.
Would love to hear from others that are doing this!
BTW, BPTK was empty except for us. If we want these kind of events in the future, we need to support them!!

We randomly went to De Baca's last night. They never mentioned anything about it being restaurant week. It's hard to participate if the designated restaurants don't tell their customers.

We do De Baca about once a month for their happy hour. It's an expansive date, but worth it.

I have on good authority that the deposit slips for Rosie's (counting money at the end of the day) were delivered about one or two days ago.

We went to Casa Mangiare last night and had their restaurant week menu + wine pairing, and it was excellent. Wife had the tuna tartare and mushroom risotto and I had the meatball app and short rib main course. Great service and food, highly recommend.

It's the restaurant in the TAMU hotel. I'm never excited to try a hotel restaurant. Usually overpriced.
We've done a few work events there and I thought the food was decent but then I wasn't paying for it.
We've eaten dinner there before a show and breakfast/brunch after staying in the hotel. It's good but not mind blowing.
We have done several Wine Dinners there. We have enjoyed those and as wine dinners go, they are less expensive.
Looking forward to the upcoming Caymus Dinner.

There are very few restaurants that are mind blowing.
Thanks for all the responses. I see why I did not know about it. Not going to eat at a hotel unless on vacay.

I've been meaning to try The Dean at the Hilton, but it's never on my radar. Does feel weird parking at the hotel and walking in there to eat.
They were doing high tea there for a while and it was very good. I haven't eaten there otherwise
