ETA this looks like their standard 7-story hotel:

And yet, the main New Development pages haven't been updated in two weeks....

We needed a much higher end brand for that location.

Totally agree. Wish we could get a Westin or something at that level in that area.

A Westin was never coming to college station.

Are they re-opening the Bush's Chicken at Towerpoint (near Saltgrass) or is something else moving in there? There has been some internal construction going on in that building for a couple weeks.

Boomtown BBQ will be going in at 3125 Texas Avenue South (pending approval from the city to rezone to allow a drive through location there).

The lot on Wellborn Rd. next to Prosperity Bank will be an urgent care, per a bank employee. Seems like we have plenty of those already ...

Probably not; Hyatt (like most companies) always build buildings with no intention of ever opening their business.

You're funny. It's been at least a couple of years, though. Other hotels have broken ground and been long finished since they started that place.

... and? What difference does that make, how does this hurt you?

Ever watch Pappa's family of restaurants get built? The pay cash for everything, use recycled building materials, etc. they build away for months at a time and then stop for many months. When they have amassed enough cash to complete the project (they typically build two together in same same location) they do and business begins.

Thus, I see nothing unusual and nothing to be worried about.

To make room for another hotel.

It is actually going to be a chicken finger place on first floor with a hotel rooms on floors 2-5 with floors 6-8 being apartments.
While that would be the most CS thing ever, the talk of the hotel is actually not a joke. There is a Starbucks with a drive-through being added to the land next to the new Republic and then a hotel is supposedly close to signing on to develop the remaining land.

While I know hotel occupancy rates are lagging behind what the owners and Experience BCS would like, does anyone know if there is a breakdown of the hotel occupancy by hotel? I am wondering if the University drive locations are faring quite a bit better to make it still an attractive option for developers.
They do track it, it's a metric for 'success' for the cities. I think annually they share it at the Economic Outlook they host each year. I don't think it is public per hotel, but overall: https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/track?uri=urn%3Aaaid%3Ascds%3AUS%3Afcd25040-00a0-4258-a464-9ed37f9ea9d9

Before now, only national level companies have the buying power for this level of data. But there are more sources for this type of data, and more 'middleman' companies now offer the data to smaller companies in the form of API request. (you want data on a single location, you query it and that counts as 1 API request) With the right developers, you can connect all the different data by geolocation and then it gets very interesting!

My opinion on Ninfas is that their service went down hill, and their prices were above average compared to the lack of service.

We went a few times on Sunday nights last year, and with almost no one in there, it was still hard to get service, drink refills, chips and salsas refilled, etc.. One of my favorite dishes, the Pechuga Chihuahua was almost $20.00. Granted it was two breasts, enough for a second meal, but it would have been nice to get a half serving for half price. I think the one in Waco even asked if I wanted a half order recently, which wasn't on the menu.

I think poor management which trickles down to service and pricing structures are the bigger issues vs an over saturation of restaurants.

I think more restaurants that have opened have created more options for patrons and people aren't willing to stand in line for an hour plus as often when there are plenty of other choices next door or down the road.

BCS Indulgences has opened in Bryan. They're a home bakery specializing in French macarons. I had some yesterday and they are delicious! Find them on Facebook and Instagram.

One option could be a golf entertainment business called Big Shots.
There is consideration happening to bring a knockoff Topgolf to the upcoming superpark in Bryan. I'm guessing this is instead of by the new HEB in College Station?

Way to go City of Bryan! Do whatever it takes to get Big Shots to locate at the new regional park. It will have a very big positive impact on the city.

Give them the damn land! Lol, Whatever it takes!

Then the locals will complain about the lights and traffic. Bet on it.

I assumed that the regional park would have amenities similar to Veteran's Park, not farmed out to commercial establishments with their own admission cost (and likely paid with taxpayer dollars, have fun with that). I don't think that Big Shots would be at Bryan as it was discussed as an "option" but the lack of progress in College Station (which would involve lengthening General Parkway south) suggests isn't a done deal. The only other thing that *might* be the reason is they want General Parkway to be complete all the way through and/or Holleman to be completely finished all the way through and/or Deacon's railroad crossing to be done.

Does BCS Indulgences have a physical location? Hours open? Phone number? Is it a secret?
Its website is pretty - save for a weird typeface color detailing prices - but not very useful for how to buy the goodies. At least I couldn't get beyond the front page tonight.

It is my humble opinion that one way or another, that land is going in its entirety, or mostly so, to developers.
