Copperheads often show up in pairs. When you see one, keep looking around the next day or two for the other one...

No clue until I came down to A&M that they were the same snake. And I doubt growing up we ever killed a venomous snake. I am guessing they were all water snakes. Because none of them had the bodies that I now recognize from these threads as a Cottonmouth.
