A work friend of mine just returned to work after being bitten on the hand by a copperhead that was camped out inside some plastic water bottles inside his house. He had previously poked a hole in the plastic wrapping, was getting out a bottle near dusk and got tagged in the hand. I've got photos of his hand in various states of swelling and eventual skin slough after four vials of antivenom, and the snake that got him. He's just been back to work for a couple of weeks but still has skin loss and nerve damage in his middle finger. He's a CRNA, won't affect his work long term. Just a freak thing, the copperhead must have crawled in when he had the water stored in his garage.
Edit: he's a big outdoorsman, and he's been stung by wasps and hornets and scorpions but he said this one was much more painful. He said the snake was a "teenager". Pics in a separate thread below because I'm old and just figured out how to post from iPhone
