And one of the bigger ones my brother says he has come across. He estimates 6-7 range. From pics, I would believe around 6 foot.agent-maroon said:TheClaw07 said:

Nope. I was looking for native snakes at a spot I frequent and walked up to this:
I was able to get the snake to a licensed pro who still has it. It is from a unique locality so there was hope the original owner could be tracked down and brought to light but no luck yet.
I thought it was fake walking up to it until it immediately starting hissing (puffing). Pretty fortunate that it was someone like me to find it and not a curious kid.
What went through your head once you realized it wasn't fake?

I totally understand that sentiment, but I love seeing snakes in the wild, especially venomous ones. Seeing that big black mamba standing up looking around then REALLY quickly getting up into the tree was one of the highlights of my last trip to Africa for me. I have no interest in handling them, and I'm certainly no 12 f mane, but I love looking at this thread from time to time. I'm glad we have a separate thread for it. Kudos to staff or 12f mane or whomever got it going!JCA1 said:Uncle Gunnysack said:

I found this one in Katy last year. Not a joke.
sorry for delay, traveling...have not located this guy a second time. Without knowing where he is hanging out he will be tough/impossible to capture. If I can find him I'll send out a bat signalzooguy96 said:KerrvilleAg said:ok zoo....let's make contact and work a planzooguy96 said:
Nice copperhead.
And, seriously, I'll make Hognose have a new home. My mom lives right outside of Kerrville and I'll be visiting her and other family.
Post here again and I'll leave some contact info.
