What's everyone's impression so far? Honestly, it feels better than D1 and the story really helped the gameplay.

Can someone remind me what power level vendor/faction packages cap at? Is it 280?
I think the soft cap is 260 unless it says powerful legendary engram

What should I focus on to get higher--strikes?
I tried the nightfall ones at 235, once at 250 and once at 268. It wasn't until the last one I was able to beat it. It helps a lot to be higher level, and to have a team that's communicating for this one.
There's some good guides on reddit to help you get higher, but the gist of it is do public events, lost sectors, and level up vendors until you get to 265. Then from there do your weekly high level things (nightfall, crucible quest, flashpoint, etc.)
Strikes can be a good way to get gear but they can take 15-20 minutes a strike, so it takes a little longer than a couple public events.
There's also a couple exotic quests that will drop gear a decent amount above your light level so you should save those until you're 270+

Anyone down to do the Nightfall today/this evening?
I'll be ready for the nightfall on Monday night for any of those ready. I've got a Titan and a Hunter both 260+
If i dont work on xbone, i may grind ps4 today... anybody gonna be on for the little guys? I will need help with public events and such whilr reachong levels. Did it x3 on xbone already.
I could start another character and then maybe switch over once we get to a decent level to help with the public events and what not
Looks like my first nightfall will be next go round. Only at 253

My warlock is 260+ so I am good to try. Probably 6:30c or so
In case you forgot, I think resets are Wednesdays now. Don't know if you have time today or tomorrow to play but you should be able to make it to 260 ish

Noob question: what is nightfall?
Analogous to a dungeon in most other games. Lots of baddies, one or more bosses, ton of fun.
Very hard version of a strike (long mission with a tough boss at the end) and you'll get really good rewards at the end of it.

Quietly grinded my hunter to 256 without doing any milestones or turning in one token worth of rep. Im sitting on about 15 level reps.
Will try and knock out the powerful gear milestones tonight and hopefully a nightfall if any of you guys are around.
What are you guys rocking in PvE? That "Origin Story" auto rifle with rampage that stacks is doing it for me in all kinds of ways. I hate pulse rifles.

When do you start seeing Strike team missions? I'm on Titan right now lvl 8, LL 100.

So my best setup is solar energy and an arc power (could maybe do void power). Does that work for you?
It unlocks after a certain point in the story, and you have to be level 12 to do that piece of story
I saw that yesterday... looking forward to trying it this evening!
I was amazed how quickly my hunter leveled up after playing through the campaign first with the Titan (master race). Once I hit 15 and finally had the final subclass relic drop I ran around doing public events. Two heroic events equaled about one level... I unintentionally hit level 20 pretty quickly while trying to grind out the subclass relic requirement.
I had a few legendary weapons in the vault that had 230 - 240 light which boosted him up quite a bit. By the time I hit level 20 the hunter was also almost at 230 power level, and quickly hit 260 by the end of the night just finishing up the campaign.
Leveling alts will still be pretty quick for those already thinking about working on them!
