The Lone Star Showdown is here. As Pick ‘Em & Rip ‘Em attempts to navigate the gauntlet that is rivalry week, it is important to enjoy this last weekend of regular-season college football while we have it. Thankfully, PrizePicks has always been there for me to help me enjoy even the most obsolete games found at the bottom of the barrel that is the college football schedule. However, with this weekend shaping up to be one of the best of the entire year, there is no need for me to be looking for value in games like the Ohio vs. Ball State game.
This week, we’re going all Power 4. Let’s find some winners.
*Numbers are subject to change*
Aggie of the Week
QB Marcel Reed
MORE THAN 219.5 Pass + Rush Yards
Reed has missed this total in only one game in which he started. While Texas’ pass rush and secondary have been very effective thus far, Reed has thrown for over 200 yards in his last three games. Also, in his last two SEC games, he attempted 16 and 21 rushes for a combined 107 yards. I think this number is way too low for him.
Lineup of the Week
Marcel Reed, QB, Texas A&M
MORE THAN 219.5 Pass + Rush Yards
For all of the reasons above, this is going in the lineup of the week.
Cade Klubnik, QB, Clemson
LESS THAN 231.5 Passing Yards
Against Georgia, Louisville and Virginia Tech, Klubnik only had 142, 228, and 211 passing yards, respectively. Those were three of the best pass defenses that Clemson has played all season. South Carolina likely surpasses all of them in that department. While Klubnik is averaging 251 passing yards per game on the season, he is averaging only 204 passing yards against top-90 pass defenses.
Max Brosmer, QB, Minnesota
MORE THAN 199.5 Passing Yards
Brosmer is maybe the most underrated quarterback in the Big Ten. While the stats aren’t elite, Brosmer’s accuracy and decision-making have elevated this offense to new heights. Brosmer is averaging 220.5 passing yards on the year and 232.6 in his last five games. Wisconsin has one of the best secondaries in the Big Ten, but that won’t stop Brosmer from doing his best to take home Paul Bunyan’s Axe.
Ollie Gordon II, RB, Oklahoma State
MORE THAN 76.5 Rushing Yards
This time last year, getting Gordon’s rushing number at 76.5 would’ve been one of those PrizePicks 50-percent discounts. However, this season has been very underwhelming for him as he’s only averaged 4.7 yards per carry relative to his 6.1 yards per carry last season. However, in his last five games, Gordon has hit this number of 76.5 rushing yards four times, so he figures to keep that going against Colorado. Also, Kansas’ Devin Neal, Texas Tech’s Tahj Brooks and Cincinnati’s Corey Kiner have combined for 438 rushing yards in three of the Buffaloes' last four games. I like Gordon in this spot.
Cayden Lee, WR, Ole Miss
MORE THAN 74.5 Receiving Yards
Lee has been an incredible emergence this season. Since Oct. 12, he is averaging 98.6 yards per game on an average of 5.6 receptions. Some of this success has had to do with the injury of Tre Harris, but even with Harris back last week, Lee was Ole Miss’ leading receiver. With a very favorable matchup against Mississippi State, I think Lee will soar past this number.
Other Dawson Selections
Jameson Geers, TE, Minnesota - MORE THAN 15.5 Receiving Yards
Daniel Jackson, WR, Minnesota - MORE THAN 5.5 Receptions
Bert Auburn, K, Texas - MORE THAN 6.5 Kicking Points
Cam Ward, QB, Miami - LESS THAN 325.5 Passing Yards
TreVeyon Henderson, RB, Ohio State - MORE THAN 46.5 Rushing Yards
