I agree. With what they are doing with XP issues, as well as a lack of end game content, Iron banner not dropping Iron Baner gear, aaaaaaannnnnnnddddd the token system, they've screwed the pooch. Don't get me wrong. i'll still hop on run a few things. last night i hit max light on my main finally, but haven't done much else aside from clan ingrams and flashpoints.

In game interface was lying to you. Ppl compared the developer API to be in game xp #s and found that at times, you only got 2% of the xp the game was showing you. You would get full xp at first, but it wwould secretly go down the more you played to prevent farming.

This is a problem bc of bright engrams that you earn thru xp, or buy with money. Also, ppl bought pop tarts for the double xp codes.

Bungie " fixed" it by making it report the correct values but increased the amount of xp required for a bright engram from 80,000 to 160,000.

Masterwork Weapons:

  • Legendary Weapons will drop as or be upgraded to become Masterworks versions
    • Masterworks will have a few advantages over the baseline Legendary weapon:
      • Track and display the number of kills with that weapon (with choice between total count or Crucible-only count)
      • Generate orbs for you and your allies on multi-kills
      • Add weapon stat bonuses that are selected randomly from a small pool and are re-rollable
    • Masterworks drop from any source of Legendary weapons for characters above 250 Power
      • Unwanted Masterworks can be dismantled into materials that can upgrade an existing Legendary Weapon into a Masterwork
      • Raid and Trials of the Nine Weapons will have a very high chance to be Masterworks
    • We have future plans to extend Masterworks to other gear and expose your kill counts in more places (e.g. Crucible kill screen)


Armor Ornaments:

  • Armor Ornaments will be added to some existing Armor sets for more visual customization without losing your Shaders or Mods
    • These ornaments will be unlocked by completing objectives specific to each set, and are permanently unlocked account-wide, just like Exotic Weapon ornaments
    • They will be applied to the base pieces that you may already have collected, and can now unlock on Vendors if not
    • In Season 2, the following sets have ornaments unlocked in their respective activities:
      • Vanguard Faction Armor
      • Crucible Faction Armor
      • Trials of the Nine Armor
      • Iron Banner Armor
      • Dead Orbit Armor
      • Future War Cult Armor
      • New Monarchy Armor
      • Eater of Worlds Raid Lair Armor


Vendors:

  • Faction Armor and Weapons will be unlocked for purchase for Legendary Shards (15) and Faction Tokens (10) on most Faction Vendors
    • All five Armor Slots will always be present, and Weapons will rotate weekly on Factions that have them
    • Slots will be unlocked by claiming Reward Engrams from the respective Faction
    • You will get credit for engrams you may have already claimed since launch

Xur:

  • Xur has some new offerings for players collecting Exotics:
    • Every week, you'll be able to acquire one of the new Fated Engrams using Legendary Shards that will decrypt as Exotics that aren't already in your collection
    • A simpler Three of Coins that boosts Exotic drop rates from any source for 4 hours
      • No obscure stacking mechanics or need to re-apply before every boss
      • These cost Legendary Shards and you can have as many as you like.


General Investments:

  • Banshee has some updates on the Weapon and Armor Mod front:
    • For players wanting to clear some Mod inventory space, Rare quality Mods will dismantle into Gunsmith Materials and have a chance to produce Legendary quality Mod Components
    • For players chasing specific Legendary Mods (including Legendary Kinetic Mods), Banshee will offer a selection of specific Legendary Mods for direct purchase, with a selection that will rotate daily and cost Legendary Shards and Mod Components
  • For players chasing a world Legendary or looking for Masterworks, Master Rahool will sell some of his rumored hoard of Legendary Engrams for Legendary Shards
  • Commander Zavala and Lord Shaxx will sell Gift consumables for Legendary Shards that can be used during a Strike or Crucible Match that will serve the following functions:
    • Grant bonus rewards to everyone in that activity upon completion, friend or foe alike
    • Award anything from Faction Tokens to a round of Exotics for everyone in the match
  • Exploit safeguards on Chests and Resource Nodes are greatly relaxed and players should encounter them less frequently
    • Even if they do, drop rates for Tokens is only reduced to 30% instead of 0%, and Glimmer will be unaffected
    • We want to associate a visual indicator with this in a future update, but we weren't able to pull that off in this update (but we hear you!)
  • Vendors will now beckon you to hand in your Reputation Tokens only when you're carrying enough to earn a Reward Engram
  • Changes affecting Reputation Tokens:
    • Daily Challenges will have Reputation Token awards increased across the board
    • Cayde's Treasure Chests still offer variable rewards, but now guarantee (at minimum) a payout of destination appropriate Reputation Tokens
    • Strikes will drop a larger number of Vanguard Reputation Tokens
    • Common quality Destination Resource Tokens will have their drop rates increased to 100%, and values per Token increased as well (by 50% for common quality Tokens and 250% for rare quality Tokens)
    • On the balance, Reputation required per Reward Engram will increase for Destination Factions (+37%) and Gunsmith (+50%)
    • Leviathan Raid Tokens will be redeemed at Benedict immediately upon obtaining a Token, instead of requiring a full clear before unlocking

I still feel a little iffy about it.

The thing they still haven't fixed is the loot and loot reward system. I'm itching to grind for something but not only is there not that OP legendary everybody wants, they've completely removed the incentives for half the activities in the game (strike specific loot/crucible only rewards/etc.)

It's amazing that they managed to take a loot based game and make every piece of loot unappealing.


I am looking forward to the forge mechanic in the new DLC though.

I'm sadly skeptical about the forge mechanic. The word forge comes with a lot of weight that I'm worried they won't match.

I REALLY want to be excited about this update, but the thing is most of this is stuff that D1 was already doing well and they took out so they are going back. It sucks they came so far in D1 just to reset everything, release D2, piss everyone off and then revert stuff back to the way it was.

And we still didn't get mention of:
- Strike Specific Gear
- Extra vault space or kiosks
- Being able to pick specific strikes or crucible types
- More crucible options

They mention bringing back heroics but no mention if these have modifiers (actually fun modifiers - not the nightfall ones we see now)

These new masterworks weapon tiers are cool, but they are adding random stats (not perks). It's a step in the right direction, but not a total fix. I do like the idea, and the step forward.

Mods are a good idea, they still have a lot of work to do to make them useful or interesting though. Kinetic weapon mods literally just add +5 damage, which is essentially useless. Mods should add perks or something special. Armor mods should let you play around with INT, DIS, and STR like before, or let you change between Mobility, Resiliency and Recovery if they want to keep that. There should have been a clear way to get certain mods from the beginning, so it's nice they're finally giving us way to get the mods we want/need.

I like that we can purchase items from vendors now, but again that is something we already had before so it should have already been an option.

Vendors should have always only given notifications when you had enough for a new package, there's no reason to show me you want to talk when I have 1 token.

There should also never have been a cooldown on chests when there are items sold to highlight chests, and treasure chest maps sold to help you farm these items.


Overall I'm glad they are moving in the right direction, it just sucks that we went 3 steps back before we take a step forward

Some Crucible changes I didn't pull from the blog post




  • Private matches for the Crucible
    • Still targeting early 2018 and expect to have better insight into exact timing in the New Year
    • We are also moving Ranked PVP to the top of our priority list for next year to support the competitive community
  • Crucible tuning like adjusted Supremacy scoring and better spawning rules
    • In December, we will introduce additional updates and bug-fixes intended to improve these areas of the Crucible
  • Better incentives for completing Crucible matches (and penalties for quitting competitive games)
    • A "Quitter Penalty" system is currently in development, and you can expect an update on the deployment of this system in the New Year

    The quitter penalty was needed, but until they give other options aside from 4v4 and make some tweaks to the teamshot meta, not enough for me.

    Going to all 4v4 was a horrible decision by Bungie. The only thing worse was to only have random game types.

    So correct me if I'm wrong, my assumption is 4v4 is easier to manage when doing peer to peer connection?

    I actually don't dislike the 4v4. I am not great at pvp and feel like I'm improving because of the smaller numbers.

    That said, I would like the option for 6v6 to be there. They also need to invest in dedicated servers. Especially when introducing ranked matches. That's going to be salty real fast.

    • Destiny servers will be shut down today starting at 8 AM Pacific, for about 6 hours (ending 2 PM Pacific)
    • There will be another maintenance Tuesday and when it is done, Curse of Osiris will drop
    • You can pre-load Curse of Osiris starting at 8 AM Pacific

    Daily/Weekly Reset starting December 5th
    • Daily/Weekly reset will now take place at 9 AM Pacific (11 AM Central)

    Someone on reddit made a post about after they got bored of D2 they went back and started playing D1. They mentioned how it felt like D1 felt like a sequel to D2, not the other way around. Here's how they described it (as if it was an announcement for the sequel). I thought it was pretty telling

    We've made the following changes/improvements:
    • snipers and shotguns have been moved to the energy slot so you can now equip a wider variety of weapons and quickly switch between them.
    • there is a ton more content and you can replay any mission or strike directly from the director orbit menu.
    • you can now customize your skill tree with more than just two skill forks. Infinite varieties of combinations are now possible.
    • four raids and two "horde mode" activities are now available.
    • weapons now have variable perks so your second and third drop are just as exciting as the first. Always a potential for a version of a weapon that fits your playstyle.
    • your grenades and super recharge faster and your armor affects this charge up rate. Want super faster than grenades, equip the right armor pieces. You can even give up your super entirely to get fast grenades and melle attacks.
    • we've moved and expanded the lore that was on certain weapons and armor to bungie.net. There was too much new stuff to put it all in-game, but we did add a bunch of scannable items in game that unlock content on the website and track your progress finding them all
    • We heard you on the exotics. You will see some new exotic weapons and armor that have truly unique characteristics. When you equip them, your guardian's power will be multiplied. And they're just plain fun to use! It will take some time to get these, but it will be worth it!
    • Eververse remains, but we've significantly reduced its role in the game. Eververse is no longer the exclusive vendor of legendary and exotic ships and sparrows
    • Shaders are no longer a consumable. Once earned you can equip/unequip the shader as often as you want. However, shaders are now applied globally to your armor set and no longer applicable to weapons.
    • Speaking of the Raid armor and weapons, they will now include unique perks that are specifically applicable to those Raid encounters. You'll want this loot not only because it looks fabulous and comes with bragging rights, but because it will help you in future completions of the Raid.
    • For you PVP fans, we have some new game modes, and we've expanded the playlists and will allow you to pick the specific game you want to play.
    • We've also increased PVP to 6 on 6 for most game modes. We want you to be able to play all night with your friends, going from the Raid straight into some Crucible. (Or you can split into two 3-person fire teams for some patrol or strikes)

    They make some great points. At this point, I still enjoy D1 more than destiny 2. If I were to load one up today, currently it'd be destiny 1 with little hesitation.
