Yeah. Love Zeke and he's a warrior but the guy is just washed.
I'd argue that Davis brings more as a pure runner at this point.
It's obvious how hard Zeke has trained the past 2 offseasons. He's looked pretty good early in the season, but he's just had nothing left once they get to week 10 or so.

They ran Zeke into the ground his first 4 years. He'll still make a play here or there but he just doesn't have the tread on the tires anymore. Pollard is very interesting. It's a contract year for him and he really doesn't have a lot of wear and tear. I still think you need a workhorse type back to go along with him though.

It's not so much that he personally will do it it's the fact that the 49ers are incredibly balanced on both sides of the ball and get to play at home. They have about as QB friendly a setup as any team in the NFL besides probably the Eagles.

It was just so so bad, you are right. TO the point where he even changed his mechanics on the 3rd and missed it even worse. Ive personally thought he has had bad mechanics going back to the first time we had him, but he was nails all year. Im not sure I can remember a worse performance, much less in the playoffs.

How bout the NFC East? First time since 1997 that a division has 3 teams in the divisional round.
I think you take a look at some kickers this week, but Maher was so solid all year that I will not be surprised if they stick with him. Maybe getting that last kick can reset his mind. All that said, I do wonder if this is a late season crappy natural grass issue that has now caused an issue between his ears. Problem is that if this season lasts 3 more games, all 3 are likely on grass.

On the Maher front, I think you should definitely try some other kickers out this week, and maybe (this is crazy and absurd to say) carry a back-up into the game this week. If he misses the first you yank him and don't look back. You cant afford to have a guy dropping points consistently at this time of the year.

Can't they line up the extra point anywhere between the hash marks they desire? Why set it up on the far left hash mark for a right footed kicked? Seems to maximize the difficulty factor.

But joking aside, I hope the issue is mechanical/technique and not the yips which is more likely.

The thought process behind this is to keep you from doing multiple things, like hooking or pushing the ball. Instead you juts push it consistently through the uprights. As we saw last night, Maher didn't do any of that.
He just wanted to set another record.
