Yeah. The good news is it sounds like they expect Biadasz back for Monday.

Since the possibility exists that it could be Tom Brady's last game, TV wants to maximize the hoopla.

LVE and Hankins should also be back for the defense which is huge.

I'll allow myself to believe that the offense was vanilla on purpose. It did seem like we were out there not really trying at all and going through the motions.

Which would be stupid because I highly doubt there's anything in the playbook we've been reserving for the playoffs. There is plenty of tape out there for Tampa to know how to defend us

1st of all it was painfully obvious how bland the offense was (many of us were calling out Kellen Moore the entire game thread). No misdirection or anything that had their offense rolling in some of the recent games. Straight hand offs on +80% of their first downs... it was a terrible gameplan against one of the better defenses in the NFL.

But if it was on purpose, why would they do that with their key starters on the field? You don't need Dak, CD, Schultz and Zeke on the field to run a pre-season offensive game plan. The whole game was like bizzaro world for Dallas.

In exactly 7 days and a few hours we are gonna find out. If the offense really is that bad, Tampa's D is going to expose us like they did in week 1 again.

My exact question from the bad start until the end of the game. I'd have packed it in after the pick 6. Clear from that point that it wasn't our day. Keep everyone healthy and fight another day

My Cowboys pessimist brother-in-law just sent me a meme that I had to laugh at:

After the game Dak Prescott threw his helmet in disgust... it was intercepted!

Their play is disturbing to say the least as is their timing. After being on top the whole year, they picked a bad time to lose focus.

did the vanilla game plan include throwing the ball to the other team and at our receiver's shins?

I'd believe the " vanilla" storyline if it wasn't for the lackluster effort and bad play in the previous games.

People need to realize that the o line, WRs and running game being poor and Dak playing bad aren't mutually exclusive. Could all of those be better? Yeah. Does Dak also make a handful of costly decisions every game? Yes

dak seems to be good enough to overcome either poor offensive line play OR poor wide receiver play, but definitely not both. but to be fair, there are not many QBs who can.

The beauty of this statement.....is that we will see the results next week.

McCarthy will look like a genius if the Cowboys win 35-7.

He can then state that the vanilla gameplan was used against Washington because it was a meaningless game. Once the Cowboys players knew the Giants were mailing it......it caused some of the 1st half brain farts.

Will there be a manning bro broadcast? I'd hate to have to watch Joe buck and troy. They like to rub it in when we are losing.

I don't get the purpose of a vanilla game plan. It's not like our playoff opponent won't have 16 other game films to watch.

The ONLY thing that I can think of (with regards to why they went with that gameplan) was because of the make-shift o-line. We did not want Peters or Tyron having to do any crazy reach blocks or pulling maneuvers all game long so we kept 90% of the game between the tackles.

We also didn't want to get Dak exposed for long periods of time behind a temp O-line so we just ran basic crossing patterns, slants, etc... get the ball out quick type stuff.

The problem was Wash jumped every route and our special teams gave them easy points to start the game. That and Dak was obviously terrible in this scheme. I might be 100% wrong, but that's my best guess as to what they were thinking and it all went horribly wrong!

I think it's clear that Dak isn't in great form right now, he is missing a lot of throws he normally makes.

I also do not buy into any discourse that Dak is 'black kirk cousins' or bad in any way. Even with the late surge of interceptions, he is still actually performing as one of the better QBs. I don't think he is necessarily an elite qb, but I think he is more than good enough to win a Superbowl with, as was Romo.

I also dont get the media hype for Jalen Hurts. They are winning games, and his stats look ok, but I just don't see him as being an actual 'great' qb.
Macarthur

I think the biggest thing w Dak is that his WR group, outside of CD, gets very little separation so he's constantly throwing into very tight windows. Not making an excuse that's just a reality. Means the ball is at risk more often.

This is magnified when the running game has struggled due to Pollard being out and the OL being shuffled.

The OL should be back healthy this game and Pollard should be relatively fresh. This is a huge game for Kellen Moore, IMO. He has a bad tendency to be very predictable in his run tendencies. He's got to help Dak w a creative plan this week.

While true, he's also got a chronic case of the yips. He throws the ball too high A LOT. At some point it stops being the yips and starts being who he is.

Agreed.

Doesn't help that SF is making everybody look like a punk right now. Injuries to QB1, QB2, and Deebo all at the same time and the offense just kept rolling with a QB drafted as Mr. Irrelevant. I assume coach of the year is a foregone conclusion.

I've said it before, if we win this week we better pray that the good Vikings also showed up against the Giants... because if they don't, we are going to SF for round 2 on a short week of rest and we are going to get curb stomped. I'll take my chances with SF in the NFC Championship game after winning 2 playoff games though. That would be a pretty confident Dallas team at that point and I'd feel OK about that. But in round 2... nope nope nope nope!!!

Tampa Bay is 1-6-1 against the spread at home this season. Bodes well for a 3 point favorite Cowboy team.

I know they have had several injuries this season. Curious who all they have coming back this week?

What are y'alls thoughts on Stetson Bennett in the NFL? I watched around 3 1/2 Georgia games this season and the dude balled out in every single one. He doesn't have the NFL measurables and I don't think he's even being talked about in rounds 1-4, but wouldn't he be worth a look for Dallas?

We are about to be at a serious crossroad in 2 years. Daks deal will be done and we'll have a real QB decision to make with guys like Diggs, Parsons, and maybe Lamb about to take huge pay increases.

They guy didn't play in like 5 games and led the NFL in interceptions. That's bad. That's very very bad. He isn't good and we will likely never win anything with him as our QB. I hope I'm wrong, but doubt I am.

Idk how many of you were listening to Charean Williams this morning, and it's just an opinion, but she said two things: one, that Dan Quinn would likely be the head coach if McCarthy were fired (which I think would be a disaster), and two, that if Dak played poorly and loses in the playoffs again, that the cowboys need to figure out what they are going to do at QB, eluding to Dak not being the answer and trying to move on. I think she is spot on about with the Dan Quinn comment, and bring up the Dak comment to point out that it's not just posters in this board that believe it.

Got ya. I always laugh at that kind of broad criticism of a QB. "Player X will never win anything". You sure are going out on a limb there, considering only a very small % of QBs ever win a ring. Also reminds me of a certain local QB that was always criticized for never winning "anything". Personally, I think Dak is certainly good enough to win a Super Bowl and to move on from him before he's even 30 would be foolish. Especially given that fact, he's led the cowboys to the playoffs more times than not.

The only way the Cowboys move on from Dak in the next 5 years is if they get lucky have a high pick fall in their laps. Those saying Dak isn't good obviously don't watch a ton of games. He's excellent a large majority of the time. Only a small handful of guys are better. I'd put Dak in the 8-12 range, which is a franchise caliber guy. One that 2/3 of the league is scratching for spending pick after pick on guys. The Cowboys put giant training wheels on Cooper Rush and squeaked out some wins, but its so blaringly obvious that Dak is 10 times better. There 2 dozen Cooper Rush level guys available all the time.

He has a lot of picks this season. But I'd argue only a small number of those were bad decisions or bad throws. The reality is you need to take some chances to have a high level passing game. The other interception leaders in the league include Mahomes and Allen. Making a decision like this based on "winning something that matters" would be the dumbest way to make a decision. Smart organizations wouldn't do that. Look at the Niners and Rams, they both won their conference and still wanted to change QBs. Coaches know who can play. Playoff wins are based on a lot of factors.

Yeah, it always makes me chuckle when folks just say something the effect that Dak isn't good so just go get someone better...

Oh, okay. Just go get someone better. I'm sure that's easy...that's why the Giants are struggling big time on what they're going to do with their FIRST round pick, Jones. Has Philly found their guy? He hasn't won anything yet, either. Will be facinating to see where they end up (and Oh BTW, Philly still had dead cap $ on the books last year for Wentz who was taken #2). Just like Washington has found their guy....

I bring those guys up because Dak is clearly better than them and has owned the division for years which is really the first goal of a franchise is to set themselves up to be successful in the division.

I said this in the "Lamar" thread... but it's tricky business. Took Buffalo more than 2 decades to find their next legitimate franchise QB after Jim Kelly. It's taken Washington the same time period and they are still looking. I'm not 100% happy with Dak at the moment, but I'm far from being "done" with him too.

But at the same time, definitely draft a QB now and see if we can find lightening in the bottle (again) with a middle/late round guy.

Bennett would be an interesting 5th-6th round flyer. His experience and having amazing talent around him have been a huge advantage. He dropped some dimes and threaded the needle at times last night, but if you really break it down, there were also a number of throws that weren't in a great spot but freak receivers bailed it out. Or a receiver that was so open he might be able to take a good throw to the house instead had to adjust. Picking nits, but just some things you notice when wondering if he's NFL material or not
