When was the last time Jerry let a skill position player of that caliber in their prime walk? I'm not sure it's ever happened unless I'm just blanking on someone. Maybe Alvin Harper if you consider him on that level, but that was almost 30 years ago.

Amari Cooper would be the only recent one I can recall.

Does Byron Jones count as a skill position player? Also Cedric Wilson last year, although you could argue he's not of the same caliber.

Murray is probably the best example. Dez was also a UFA that year and they used the franchise tag on him. I think they probably would have tagged Murray if they could have

and Demarco went on to have maybe 1 good season with the Eagles and that was the end of his career. Smart to not resign him because they then drafted Zeke right after and looked like the next coming of Herschel Walker.

Sedrick Wilson was never going to get that deal here in Dallas. We know we've got to pay CeeDee and I think Jerry was just tired of Amari. He was being paid like a top 5 WR and would typically ghost games. His Covid related games missed were the final straw.

Jerry's position was, I'm not paying you $15mm a year or $1mm per game to sit out because you wouldn't get a shot that everyone else on the team got.

To be fair. Demarco also had a pretty good season or two in Tennessee.

Yeah, I think that's my thought right now... there is nobody else that we would need to use the tag on so it only makes sense to either use it straight up or use the threat of it as a bargaining chip to get the most cap friendly deal we can.

Worst case is we get to kick that can down the road 1 year. Next years tag has Diggs' name written all over it so we'll see how negotiations go.

The only upside to the injury is it makes it much easier to retain him next year. He's a restricted free agent so we can tender him and nobody will touch him.

Either that or it makes it easier to lock him up to a long term deal.

Y'all think Hilton still has any juice left? I like that they will have that veteran presence in the WR room.

Should have signed him a week ago. Hilton career numbers vs the texans would make Jerry Rice blush.

So glad OBJ is out of the picture. Got enough diks in the locker room.

It's probably early but lookin at potentials paths to the Super Bowl for the boys.

1. Eagles (12-1)
2. Minnesota (10-3)
3. 49ers (9-4)
4. Tampa (6-7)
5. Dallas (10-3)
6. Commanders (7-5-1)
7. Giants (7-5-1)

I don't think the Giants are going to hang on to that 7 spot. Looking at schedules, Detroit may actually pull it off and take it. In this case, I think we need to start rooting for Minnesota to win out. Keeping The 2 seed. Do not want SF 2nd round. That would potentially give Dallas Tampa Bay then Minnesota in the divisional round.

I'd like our odds of making the conference championship with that scenario.

If Dallas wins the WC round they'd be playing at Phiilly next unless one of the other wild card teams win.

What we really need is the friggin 49ers to start playing like a team that's lost 2 QBs and one of the best offensive weapons in the NFL!

Rough weekend for the Boys. Thankfully they got the win. Losing Steele is a tough blow. The OL was playing so well. I'm glad they have Peters as an option and hopefully Tyron looks good coming back. They also lost Hankins till the playoffs, which really blows. He was a nice body to have in the middle and I think the difference in run defense was noticeable the last couple of weeks.

Didn't he sign with the Bucs then retire again?

Edit: re-signed with the Bucs.

I think Cole burned his Cowboys bridge though.

He just signed with the bills

Iirc he was extremely butt hurt that he wasn't a higher priority for the boys and made some pretty disparaging comments. Jerry would never bring a guy like that back.

At this point I don't think we need any help at WR. Gallup is getting a little better every week and, in general, we have plenty of weapons on offense to get the job done.

I'm still critical of Kellen Moore at times. There are games when we keep the defense guessing, spread the ball out, and at least threaten the other team with Daks legs. Keep the defense guessing. We dominate those games. And then there are games where he reverts back to what we saw last week... drop back pass after drop back pass with your most vanilla runs mixed in. Almost got us beat by the worst team in football.

At this point I don't even put that stuff on Dak... every QB has strengths and weaknesses. Dak is more than capable as a drop back QB, but you gotta mix in the other stuff often enough to keep the defense off him. What we did against HOU required pin-point accurate throws again and again and that's not fair for any QB. We saw in the last drive Dak did just that, but no QB can do that all game long. Kellen's gotta be better than that and he has been most of the year.

Here's a fun fact that helps dig up an old argument several of us had a couple off-seasons ago:

Byron Jones sitting at 4 career INTs... your boy JaRon Bland already has 3 in 13 games!
