Yeah, Dallas made some adjustments and flat out dominated that 2nd half. And most of that was by just winning the LOS.

Had to speed watch the game around 11:00 last night... I thought that went about as well as can be expected.

This team showed real heart and it's clear that, while Rush has played well, he's no QB1. If our offense takes it up a notch once Dak gets back this is going to be a team nobody wants to play.

Looking back at the drive summaries Eagles really should have ran up the score if they were the legit 6-0 juggernaut they're being pumped up as. They got the ball 3 times inside the 50 on turnovers in the first half and came away with 13 points, and they got outscored in the second half.

They've pretty much not had to play from behind so far this year or get outside of an offense centered around running. Hurts has thrown for more than 1 TD 2 times this season

In the RPO era linemen downfield has become such a big deal that I think it should be challengeable by coaches.

You could assign a staffer to just watch that and offenses would have to adjust bigtime after they get popped a few times.

It's actually much worse in college, but there's an example of how bad it's gotten in the NFL as well.

Really puts defense in a bind.

Agree 100%. And I think you saying it puts them in a bind is way underselling.

I think it should be reviewable because it puts the defense at a HUGE competitive disadvantage.

Stat line is interesting....

I would take it as far as saying lineman down field and pick plays/OPI has gotten ridiculously out of hand to the point of severe detriment to defenses.

I hate it because I love good defense. I also think the powers that be don't think about the fact that crowds feed off defense, so you can't keep the same crowd involvement if you handicap the defense to the point they're neutered.

I would also favor having a minimum amount of time between the end of the play and the next snap, except for in the last 2 minutes or so, for similar reasons. Just a few more seconds would make a big difference IMO.

Part of the reason refs have gotten so lazy with spots is that they're hurrying up to get ready for the next play so quickly.

I also think it's unfair to the defenses when a qb runs outside the tackle box and just simply throws the ball out of bounds like it's a wrapper from a sandwich. Marginal roughing the passer calls?? Receivers getting PI calls on underthrown balls that they dont have a chance to catch.

NFL wants anything that makes the offense better, including looking the other way for illegal man downfield.

Will be interesting to see how the Eagles overcome injuries as the season goes along. Pretty sure they are mostly at full health right now. We saw how quickly their offense gave up pressure as soon as their OT went down... I'd like to see them play as well as we are with some of our top guys not suited up.

It's a long season. The Cowboys are in fantastic shape for the time being. Assuming Dak comes in and the offense improves immediately, there is no reason why we shouldn't be 6-2 going into the bye week.

Philly's schedule isn't difficult so catching them might be hard to do... but with this defense, we just need to get to the playoffs and we'll take our chances from there.
Macarthur

I agree. I saw a stat that says Hurts has taken more hits than any player in the entire league. That seems crazy, but if true, I find it difficult to believe that he will make 17 games with his health.

And even if he does play, you have to wonder how effective he is running as the year goes along and teams start to figure out he's not 100%.

Time will tell, but there are already signs that what they are doing isn't sustainable. This team has pretty much exploded at the start of every game. They get up by 2 or 3 TDs... then they slow way down and the other teams catch up, just like we did.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit to see this team really slow down in the 2nd half of the season in the same way they slow down in the 2nd half of games.

As I've said before, their schedule is an absolute joke. The best non-cowboys team on their schedule is… Tennessee? The Giants if you believe they're actually any good? Green Bay just in a "Rodgers can win any game by himself" sense? Other than that it's a cakewalk

Yep, we just need to control what we can control. THere is nothing wrong with winning a Wild Card, we need to amass as many wins as we can and be strong going into the playoffs

Was just thinking this as well.

I'm actually loving the 2022 Dallas Cowboys so far. I think the Cowboys will win the division barring catastrophic injuries.

Curious if the cowboys have any interest in some of the Panther's cast offs? Would think they'd definitely have some interest in Moore, Burns and Brown. Moore is an obvious want but imo Brown may be able to help this team the most. DT is probably the weakest spot on the defense and we need to shore up the run D. Brown is one of the best run stopping DT's in the league and he's only 24.

***edit. Nvm on Brown. Sounds like he is not being shopped and it would require the farm to get him or Burns.

In general, it would be nice for Dallas to be players in the trade market this year. Only a couple weeks left to make something happen.

Another offensive weapon (pass catcher) sure feels like a move that could put this team over the top. Or instead of a trade, what about making a run at Odell Beckham?

I certainly appreciates this team's ability to field a very good team and it mostly be comprised of guys we drafted... but when you get the chance to take your shot, you gotta take it!

Don't forget we have James Washington coming back in hopefully a couple weeks. Now, I know that DJ Moore is a better player. He's a freaking stud who, like Courtland Sutton, is being completely wasted in a terrible, terrible offense. But he would cost good draft capital (around a 2nd round pick?) and he's pretty expensive with his contract as his cap hit is set to be $25, $20, and $20 million the following three years. Big things to think about, but it would be cool to get a guy like him.

if we trade for DJ Moore, that would make the Amari trade look even worse (if that's possible). I don't think we trade for a top-end receiver.

Not really. Moore is 3 years younger than Cooper, cheaper than Cooper (with an additional year of control), some would say he's better and his availability isn't as much a question mark as Cooper's always was.

Here's an interesting thought.

I like CD Lamb, but right now, I'm not feeling 5 years and $25+m per year for CD. What if we traded for someone like Moore and let CD walk at the end of 5 years?

I think good WRs can be found unless you have someone that's elite. I think CD is really good but not elite.
Macarthur
How long do you want to ignore this user?
In the meantime, you've got Moore, CD and Gallup for the next two years.

CD is a good NFL WR, but I think the problem is he's not as advertised... we thought we were getting this top end run after catch WR based on his college film. Maybe I'm wrong, but IMO he's an average (at best) run after catch guy in the NFL.

To Mac's question, if Moore is really good (I don't know much about him outside of his name)... I would be all for bringing him in and paying him with the idea that we don't have to pay CD long term. We still have CD for 1 more year plus the 5th year option if we choose. That's 2 years of control over CD... we can absolutely afford to bring on Moore and it have no bearing on what we do with CD.
Macarthur
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yep, and then 25 you can start to look at drafting someone high to replace CD and you have that pick with Moore on the last year of his deal.

Not saying it is an option, but would you rather have Pitts or DJ Moore on the team. I feel like a top TE talent is a more reliable offensive weapon than a WR1. A WR1 can get a lockdown corner on him while a TE just creates something for the linebacker/safeties to keep an eye on and slow that their reaction to the game. I know Schultz was kind of that guy but he just isn't the same athlete that Kelce/Andrews or Pitts.

I like this idea. Especially if CeeDee fails to develop further.

Pitts is great, but he's on his rookie deal and you will have the same issue with CD. You gonna pay Pitts $25m+? Cause you know his agent is going to want WR money, not TE money.

I really like the young TEs. Plenty happy to let Schultz walk at the end of this year.

I think CD is an elite talent, but he's missing that mindset that guys like DeVante Adams, Tyreek Hill, prime Julio Jones, etc. have which is "I am better than you and I will dominate you for the whole game." I also don't know how much we are going to pass this year. We should probably keep a similar play style of running ball even with Dak.

I think there's no chance Dallas trades for an offensive player. Gallup has looked pretty good and Brown has really stepped up.

Looks like Jerry made quite the stir at the owners meeting telling Kraft not to "**** with him". Apparently Jerry is the only owner with some balls and sense, the rest are Goodell's whipping boys.
