Well, we spent plenty of time crapping all over the team last week... how about a little sunshine pumping and some potentially unrealistic optimism following a nice win:

1. Parsons is good at football. How good? Gooder than possibly anybody else playing defense in the NFL.
2. The Tyler Smith pick appears to be paying off about as well as you can expect for a late 1st round o-line guy.
3. The amount of guys in our D-line rotation that can get pressure (on QBs and RBs) is impressive. Parsons, D-Law, Sam Williams, Barr, Fowler, Armstrong practically set up camp in the Bengals backfield.
4. Haven't heard Terrence Steels name much this year... sure did hear La'el Collins name a bunch yesterday. Just saying!
6. Lamb, Gallup, Brown, Turpin... all of a sudden our WR corps (if healthy) not only looks fine, but lots of variety to hurt defenses in different ways. I like it!
7. God Bless Brett Maher

Anybody else think the Cowboys need to go ahead and get a contract done with Pollard right now? He's clearly the best RB on the team and over the past two seasons he's the most explosive / game breaking player on the offense.

RBs are not getting paid crazy money right now, we can easily afford him.

Don't forget, Cooper Rush looked good enough. His timing and chemistry with the receivers looked way better than Dak's last week.

I know... it's almost as if Cooper Rush got a ton of preseason game reps and Dak didn't get any!

We saw a ton of sloppy football week 1, it wasn't just Dallas. Be interesting to see the pre-season strategy in the upcoming years, especially with talk of doing just 2 games.

The defense in general is very solid. All the preseason critics downgraded the defense because they claimed last season's success was all based on getting lucky turnovers. Well we haven't seen any luck yet in a two games. They bolstered the DT rotation and invested in vets Fowler and Barr. Having Gregory walk was a good thing IMO.

And on the OL I was saying from Day One letting Collins and Williams walk was a positive. Invest in these young guys. It will be interesting to see how they use Peters when he's ready.

The OG whose name I'm forgetting, the 7th round pick last year, seemed to play pretty well when I was focusing on him. He looks like he could be a player.

Assuming they let Zeke walk at the end of this year, yes, I think they could extend him at a very reasonable number and then draft a guy in the middle rounds next spring.

Now, if they keep Zeke, I'm not sure what in the world to think.. Someone on the radio mentioned they may try to keep him to make Dak happy, but I would think they would have to rework that contract if they were going to do that because Zeke is due over $10m next year.

edit.

Man, going back and looking at that contact makes me sad. I can't believe the Cowboys signed him to that contract.

Elliott looks completely cooked to me. I wouldn't be surprised if he's out of the league altogether after next season.

Diggs deserves some shout here too. People crap on him all the time. I think he's pound for pound the best corner in the league. He's fast, athletic, long, and has great ball skills. I think the defense as a whole is LEGIT. Wish we had McGovern back at guard and a QB, because after two weeks I think Dak is the weak link….

Also, Hop would hate to hear this but, I think the Bengals Super Bowl run was one of the flukiest in recent memory. They look terrible.

Agree with the above. Zeke unfortunately looks like Eddie George... baddest mofo RB in the game one minute... and the next he's a JAG. Still capable of greatness from time to time, but on the whole he looks nothing like the guy from 5 years ago.

Also agree about Diggs. Guy looks like a complete CB out there. He was inches away from making big plays yesterday... looked like he was baiting Burrows. Specifically that zone play where he sat down in cover 2 and then exploded up the field to get in front of the comeback route. A less than perfect throw and Diggs picks it off.

Why is it when the Ags stink the cowboys stink and when the Ags play well, the cowboys play well??

Giants are beatable. Philly is beatable. Some of the teams on the schedule aren't world beaters outside of the rams.
Philly looked very good in beating a Detroit team who looked outstanding yesterday. Guess we'll see tonight.

Every team is beatable. Tampa Bay looked crappy yesterday. Rams looked crappy last week. Cards were crappy last week and for a half this week.

NFC is wide open.

My hunch is they will offer Zeke a short extension that involves a major restructuring of the remaining year. If he declines they cut him. He still has some value as a short yardage back and a pass protector.

They seem to have similar teams this year. Good defenses and bad offenses.

The NFL is stupid sometimes. The Vikings looked like world beaters last week against the Packers.

Eagles have jalen hurts tho. Thought we weren't worried about him much because he can't throw.

Based on the parts I saw, it was all short/medium throws and the Vikes just let them do it, at least for the 1st half.

But yeah, the Eagles are the best team in the East right now. We'll see how it goes.

Yeah, the Eagles did look good and so did Hurts. I will say that the Vikings defense played soft as a pillow last night. Will be interesting to see how Dallas deploys #11 when they play Philly.

Also, I'm still of the belief that if your QB is a part of your designed running game for 17 games in the NFL, the odds are he will not finish the season.

Completely agree. Let's not forget the Eagles scored ZERO in the 2nd half after the Vikings adjusted. They had a terrible gameplan coming into the game... force Hurts make throw after throw for 5-10 yards. Well, he did just that and they marched the field over and over.

Teams will adjust to it, but the Eagles are pretty solid at what they do. Need Hurts to get banged up and we'll see how their plan changes.

No arguments against their Defense though. Like Dallas, they look to have a legitimate top 10 defense (too early to tell how good exactly).

I'm not worried about the Philly offense. The cowboys had a better offense thru 5 games last year, the league found a blue print, and the house of cards came tumbling down fast.

Hurts keeps running like that, he's bound to get injured.

He did air it out on a bomb that scored.

He runs the RPO as well as can be expected. Now if his O Line can learn not to drift down field early…

Hurts is actually playing the way a healthy Dak would.

At this brief moment, the Eagles are the best team in the NFC.

(Giants are a plastic team; confident Dallas can beat them)

How y'all feeling about tonights game?

I'm thinking if we have any shot at doing anything this season we need to win tonight. After week 1 we expected very little from this team but they showed up and beat Cincy with a backup QB. We need to see consistency from this coaching staff and players... need to get our second consecutive W tonight and get this team on a roll.

The Giants are as average as the day is long. Saquon is elite and their o line is better than in years past because of how much they've invested in it. But Daniels isn't good, their wide receivers are average at best, and their defense is pretty "meh" imo. Cowboys absolutely need a win tonight. We cannot afford to lose to the Giants or Commanders this year. Must keep pace with the Eagles. I am at a 6/10 in confidence we win.

I feel pretty good. Our defense should give their offense a ton of problems.

Our OL has looked a bit better than I think we all expected. Jason Peters will be active so I think that helps. Smith and Peters on that left side could be lethal...both really powerful guys.

Do they have peters playing left guard?

Update: Looks like he'll be playing left guard, but not the whole game. Gallup is also out for tonight.

Gallup officially inactive tonight. That's probably for the best. He's a really solid receiver and I'd hate to rush him back. Sounds like he's real close... probably next week.

Turning around and losing to the giants after beating a super bowl team feels very much like what a cowboys team in our quarterback position could do.

We should beat them, but I won't be stunned if we don't.

Agreed. I'm almost more curious about the game than I am excited.

We all tend to give Mike crap and the are reasons for that. But this was a well coached and very resilient team most of last year. We played well regardless of opponent and regardless of missing players. Hoping we see that tonight.
