Evans in the 3rd round seems to make more and more sense. We HAVE to get a corner with this second round selection.

At this point he just needs to lay of the weed and start to be an upgrade at the position.
I need laugh and then cry emoticons for this.

Watch that video... great well spoken kid. Definitely a JG kind of guy. And while it may not mean anything when it comes to on the field production, for me personally it means something to have a guy like this (a professional) vs. Tak who was all over the place dropping F bombs on national TV and then, instead of sincerely apologizing, he says, "fine me later, FINE ME LATER!!!".

I gotta think the Falcons had a brief moment of, "what did we just do"! Haha.

Why would they get this guy when Watt was on the board? ****ing Cowboys gonna Cowboy

Solid pick. It's 28, this is what you get.

He got caught up in the moment I think, but Tak's story and accomplishment are pretty incredible. Really tough childhood, from a bad area, and promised his grandma who passed away that he would make it to the NFL. I'm not gonna hold it against him.

You wouldn't give a crap about Watt if his bro wasn't a superstar.

He's fine...I would have just traded back but whatever. Tons of talent left out there for today.

FYI, the trend continues... who Dallas brings into their official visit/workouts is a strong indication of who they are targeting. Taco was in that group (as was Harris, Tak, Adoree Jackson, & White... all of which were taken before the Cowboys).

It's no secret the Cowboys are getting a DB (specifically a CB) with their 2nd pick and there are a BUNCH still left. Here are the top guys that are still available AND were part of Dallas's 30 visits:

Chidobe Awuzie
Kevin King
Fabian Moreau
Jalen "Teez" Tabor
Cordrea Tankersley
Quincy Wilson

So if you want your "draft guide" for round 2, that's it! All of those guys are projected 1st/2nd round CBs and we've got 6 left. Keep an eye on those names and pray that we don't see 4 of them gone in the first dozen picks in round 2. If that happens Dallas is gonna have to come up.

This is what I'm kind of afraid of. We've got a ways to go until we're selecting. We need a corner quite badly.

Yeah... to move up 6 or 7 spots will cost us our 4th rounder. If we want to jump up into the middle of the 2nd it will cost us our 3rd (according to the draft charts). I'm OK parting with a 4th if we are about to get wiped out, but keep in mind we do not have a 5th rounder this year (thanks for that Matt Castle!!!!).

Here's hoping teams get a real hard on for O-line & WRs in the 2nd!!!

Also keep in mind there area couple names that weren't part of our visit list, such as Desmond King that are part of that group of CBs that we or other teams can take. I think we'll get one!

He will likely be there when we're picking but I would HATE to get Sidney Jones, that CB from Washington that tore his Achilles tendon. He may very well recover and go on to have a very good NFL career, but we can't get someone in the second round who is going to not see the field for maybe a season for a SECOND consecutive season. We need a day 1 starter at either corner or safety.

100% agree. We cannot afford a red-shirt year 2nd rounder again. It's honestly wide open where Sidney goes though. It's a little different than Jaylon Smith because Jaylon was a lock for the top 10 / top 5 pre-injury. Sydney was a middle/late 1st rounder so I'm told.

If we land really SOLID DB prospects in the 2nd & 3rd round, I really wouldn't mind taking a flyer on him in the 4th if he's still hanging around.

sorry no way am i trusting a CB to come back from an achilles when we so badly need contributors in 2017.

that would be a ridiculously irresponsible risk to take. there will be 2017 contributors on the board, take one of them.

as for Taco its not a huge flashy pick, but its a need. and combine that need with the fact that its a fairly DB rich draft and the pick is fine. i've been seeing them graded at a B by a lot of people and that sounds about right.

theres a ton of very good players that will likely be on the board in round 2 who can come right in and play (barring injury or discipline issues). if they can get best available CB in the 2nd and best available S in the 3rd that'll be a great first 3 rounds. getting Evans in the 3rd would seem too good to be true but I'd love it.

an achilles injury with a CB is a deal-breaker for me, regardless of a return timeline.

Kevin Pup Smith coulda been one of the great ones. He blew that achilles and was never the same.

true he also developed back problems but still. he just didn't have that same cut and plant he did prior to the injury.

And in regards to injuries, I would 100 percent take a flier on Jake Butt in maybe the 5th round if he's there. If he comes back from his ACL and plays near the same level, we would likely have Witten's heir apparent.

I wouldn't touch a secondary player with Achilles injury either.

You have chance to grab another defensive starter in second round. Gimme a good player that can play 16 games THIS season.

Another name that keeps popping up is Obi Melifonwu, but most don't expect him to make it to 60.

Will the guy from UF be there at 60 or is he projected earlier? I know some didn't like his 40 time but the guy makes plays.

Cowboys should have gotten watt

I said it earlier... Watt has never... Ever ever ever... Played with his hand on the ground. He was a long shot to end up here.

I was leaning DB... We are very thin here... But Taco is a stud. The cowboys obviously felt good about DBs I the next rounds. We'll see.

Watt definitely has the higher upside of the two. With Charlton, you know you're getting a rotation guy who could get 5-6 sacks a year as his career progresses. I'm not a risky drafter, but I would have moved to a cornerback. Dallas was blind-sided when Takk wasn't available.
Watt might have the highest ceiling of the ends available but Taco has the highest floor. Stephen said Taco had a high 2nd round grade and the only other player left on their board with a 1st round grade was a RB (guessing Joe Mixon). They tried to trade down but failed and played it safe with Taco. He'll be solid.

Yes, I was waiting for Rick Flair to run in from off stage and smash his grandma's picture over Goodell's head and start a WWE brawl. That was such a weird reaction.

Yeah, I completely forgot it was an Achilles injury. I was thinking it was a typical acl/mcl deal. Yeah, in that case no thanks. Barry Church came back from it, but safety is quite a bit different than CB. I agree with y'all, can't spend a pick on that. Maybe a 7th or let Jerry do his magic if he goes undrafted.

I think the 4th is going to be wide open for a RB, WR, TE, O-line, etc assuming we get DBs in the 2nd & 3rd.

We have really good numbers on the D-line with our rook and all the vets. Not much room to draft any more D-line guys.

Interesting, we could have picked a cb or safety last night then trade for Sheldon Richardson today for a 4th round pick. He must be a serious head case for the Jets to dump him though.

Would he fit under the cap?

He is owed $8 M for the final year of his rookie deal so things would have to be shuffled around. A Team may be able to sign him to a new longer deal that spreads some money around.

Jets also trying to trade safety Calvin Pryor for a mid round pick. He is expendable now that they have Jamal Adams.

Pryor sucked last season though.
