Aaron Brooks, Mark Brunell, Matt Hasselback...
While Farve was the franchise QB the Packers continued drafting late round QB's, developed/protected them and traded them before they became FA's for picks.
That should be our goal with Rush. Keep bringing him along and letting him look good then use him to get a Wardaddy.
The complaints on Rush coming out of CM were that (1) he lacks athleticism and (2) his arm strength.
I've never been a big subscriber to the athleticism argument from the QB position, especially considering that Tom Brady is one of the, if the not THE, worst athletes that I've ever seen play quarterback position. I've been saying on here for a while that pocket mobility (ability to move in the pocket without scrambling or rolling) is more important to me as a couch coach than how fast of a 40 you run or how far you can throw a football. One aspect that you didn't see much against Rush last night was middle pressure. Middle pressure tends to eat the bad athletes alive, and the Rams generated none of it.
Hard to tell on the arm strength issue. Chad Pennington and Peyton Manning made careers out of touch, finesse passes with pretty meh arm strength.
It's still too early to tell about Rush, but early signs are positive. His early arc here reminds me a little of Matt Moore and Scott Chandler a bunch of years ago, when they dominated the preseason for Dallas.
