morris and mcfadden were both at like 3.5 ypc LY. the idea that anyone can step in and be successful is not true. zeke is arguably the best player on the team and IMO the second or third best RB in the league. it's a tremendous loss.

They are also going to need every last bit of production they can get from the running game to cover for that slapdick defense they'll be putting out there, especially in September. The running game needs to be elite.

I'll be watching the pre game in about 30 minutes. Really interested to hear what those guys think. They were pretty adamant that the most Zeke would get was 2 games. They felt any evidence was thin at best.

This whole thing stinks! But the good news is that Zeke isn't what makes this offense go... It's Dak! Don't get me wrong, Zeke is elite, but Dak is the guy that makes it go.

Yeah, while it will probably be unintelligible, I'm interested to hear Jerry try to explain his comments the past few weeks.

You'd have the exact same scepticism from any fan base.

no idea what that means

He's implying that you're whining because you think zeke is an integral part of the offense. In his post he says we'll be fine and not to cry over spilled milk.

It's not that they'll be fine. It's that there's nothing can be done. Make the most of it.

That's not necessarily true. They can appeal, which they are. Hopefully it's reduced as 6 games seems harsh given the circumstance of inconsistent evidence.

All you're doing is whining.

You act like this running game is inept without zeke. They'll be better than the average NFL team even without zeke.

Defense holes, I don't totally agree with that
We have a tremendous upgrade in our secondary, younger but way more athletic I think that will be net plus at the end of the year

Linebacker I just pray Sean Lee doesn't get hurt every year, last year was his first uninjured but if he goes down we are lost,

Front 4 suspensions and what not but marineeli will get pressure from some where we won't be elite but we will be ok and way better at end of season

Pray for Sean lee

ac04 isn't whining. far from it.

This team isn't a super bowl contender without Zeke. But he's not out the entire season

Missing 6 games is significant, but its not the end of the world given the OL the team has.

Aaron Brooks, Mark Brunell, Matt Hasselback...
While Farve was the franchise QB the Packers continued drafting late round QB's, developed/protected them and traded them before they became FA's for picks.

That should be our goal with Rush. Keep bringing him along and letting him look good then use him to get a Wardaddy.

The complaints on Rush coming out of CM were that (1) he lacks athleticism and (2) his arm strength.

I've never been a big subscriber to the athleticism argument from the QB position, especially considering that Tom Brady is one of the, if the not THE, worst athletes that I've ever seen play quarterback position. I've been saying on here for a while that pocket mobility (ability to move in the pocket without scrambling or rolling) is more important to me as a couch coach than how fast of a 40 you run or how far you can throw a football. One aspect that you didn't see much against Rush last night was middle pressure. Middle pressure tends to eat the bad athletes alive, and the Rams generated none of it.

Hard to tell on the arm strength issue. Chad Pennington and Peyton Manning made careers out of touch, finesse passes with pretty meh arm strength.

It's still too early to tell about Rush, but early signs are positive. His early arc here reminds me a little of Matt Moore and Scott Chandler a bunch of years ago, when they dominated the preseason for Dallas.

I think QB comes down to 2 keys: 1) can you effectively read and react to a defense. This is where a guy like Brady sets himself apart. And 2) do you have enough juice amd accuracy in that arm to make the throws the playbook needs. Doesn't have to be a cannon by any means. But you need enough to take advantage of the spots the defense gives you.

More important than arhleticism is being able to feel the pressure and know how to adjust to use the pocket to your benefit. Brady excels at that too.

Zeke will sue the NFL and I believe he will win.

I'd like to see Rush get some playing time behind the starting OL from last night. See how he responds. We'll likely see Dak in the next game but, at least a series or, 2. Maybe give McCown some more time as well. Moore looks tentative in the pocket. It's still early though.

Doubtful.

If he sues for that he opens his life up to much scrutiny and he is a dumbass so there will be lots of embarassing stuff that gets aired.

I think the Brady case proved that Goodell can do whatever he wants. The judge basically said there wasn't enough evidence to suspend but the CBA gives Goodell god like power so it doesn't matter.
BMX Bandit
How long do you want to ignore this user?
has nothing to do with opening himself up to dirty laundry being exposed.

for starters, the CBA is going to preempt any suit against the league for defamation in this context.

and even if some how he could get over that hurdle, he would have to show actual malice by the league, meaning they knew the statements they made were false or acted with reckless disregard for the truth. zero chance he could show that.

Adam Schefter: the majority of owners are satisfied with the Elliott ruling. Paraphrased it, he was on mike and mike.

Touched on the length of suspension and said it's an incredibly tough up hill battle and the odds are not in favor of Elliott.

I think a lot of y'all overestimate the outrage about Zeke's suspension from people who aren't Cowboys fans. Goodell isn't going to be ousted for this, he makes the owners too much money. If there wasn't a groundswell among the owners for the whole deflategate fiasco, there won't be for this. Zeke's suspension may be reduced but nothing else will come of this.
Aggies1322

Do you have nothing better to do than come troll on a fan forum? If you go through Twitter, there were actually a lot of other fans that thought it was unjust. A lot of people are mad that Josh Brown who admitted to abusing his wife, only got a 2 game suspension. While zeke who couldn't be proven to have done anything (in court), got 6 games. Some see that as unjust and an abuse of power.

Of course they are - the ruling has crippled the Cowboys. I wonder what the other 3 NFC East owners think about it.

They GREATLY overestimate the "outrage from non cowboy fans" (because there is no outrage) AND they underestimate the enjoyment of watching Jones get his comeuppance after continually excusing and enabling this type of bad behavior. It caught up to him and it may have cost them their shot at the post season.
Can everybody please flag this guys posts... Staff, please get him the hell out of here. I mean we all tend to be internet D-bags from time to time, but he is blatantly rubbing salt in the wound and it's time for him to go!
