I'm hopeful. At the same time, I also realize this is the part of the draft where they got Shante Carver, Ebenezer Ekuban, and Anthony Spencer who racked up 1 Pro Bowl between them (as an injury replacement). So you can get a player there, but expectations probably need to be tempered. The obvious edge rushing beasts have so much value that they don't linger on the board. So you go for a guy you hope can be reasonably productive and maybe you get lucky and find he's more than that. McClay has shown he's pretty good at that. I'm still happy with their draft overall.

To me, the value of the Cowboys' draft comes in the rounds after the first. I don't think Charlton will be bad, but I think we got some solid players in just about all the other rounds. Seems like we drafted mostly low-drama guys who should just come in and work. Guys with solid-level floors in their development.
Yall know that "just another guy" is miles better than who Cowboys have been trotting out there.

Weed smoking isn't his biggest problem, he is bipolar and since he was a kid he has self medicated with weed to cope. Even if it was legal he would not be able to perform like a pro should because of his issues.

No but it can make him not give a damn about football when he is down, which is what happens yo him. He routinely drops out and loses interest. Take away weed and he is still too screwed up to maintain enough focus to be a pro athlete.
I just heard that Anthony Brown has a tattoo of a "Ruffles" on his shoulder and right below it his draft pick number. Guy literally has a chip on his shoulder!!! Awesome!

Cowboys are officially moving La'el Collins to right tackle for now. Sounds like he'll still be considered a guy that can move inside if needed, but their hopes are that he will win that job. So I guess it's time for Cooper to get back to start living up to his draft hype and give us something solid at LG next to Tyrone.
I think generally it's easier to find a guard than it is to find a tackle. Hope Collins nails down that spot and we can fill in the guard spot fairly simply.

Ugh... this is the worst part of the year for football. The draft is over and training camp is still a long ways away. Even the guys that get paid to cover the team have to stretch to find anything to write/talk about.

If he REALLY wanted to be Witten he would have caught that ball and then immediately been hit by a defender, battled him for a few seconds until another defender came in, then churned for maybe an extra yard to two and then go down.

At this point I'm not expecting anything from Smith. If he plays that will be amazing, but he's facing a pretty steep medical hill to getting back to the player he was supposed to be without that injury. If we can somehow get that, he'll be a huge steal. But I'm not expecting it really at all.
And people gave those guys grief for skipping meaningless bowl gsme.
Rolando McClain was arrested for pot & gun charges. The awesome part is that because his last team was the Cowboys it's always reported as "Cowboys LB or Former Cowboys LB". Fun!
