He could take responsibility by firing the people who gave him the strongest advice to strike, which seems to be Hegseth. Not sure he would do that because doing so would be admitting Pete was not a great choice.
Everything I post is my ignorant opinion expressed in the emotions of the moment. I don't know jack about anything other than the things I do know about and sometimes even I don't know the difference.

Admitting you relied on bad advice of someone you handpicked seems just as bad as admitting you ****ed up.

That said, I don't think Hegseth gave bad advice nor that Frump made a mistake entering into this conflict.

It's never Trump's fault. It's always someone he hired that gave him bad information or tripped him up.

Exactly. Where is Harry Truman when you need him? Buck stops here. I don't think I've ever heard Trump take responsibility or blame for anything.

To what end would him taking responsibility do?

It's always been the man's personality. He may learn from his mistakes but he's not going to admit them to folks.

And after 10 years of constant news cycle on him, of you voted for him not realizing this trait about him, then you simply were not paying attention.

So for Trump, what is gained by admitting a mistake? There will not be any recognition of his "admission", it will be spun in the worst possible manners, he will not have gained a single support, and in fact he loses support for caving in to bizarre demands.

It's highly unlikely Trump is going to admit a mistake, especially doesnt think he's made one.

This is a deflection. Too many of Trump's minions blame the people around him instead of holding him accountable. It's always someone else's fault. I voted for the guy and would do so again but our republic only works if we hold all of our leaders accountable.

Trump appears to have ****ed this up and I don't think we've taken care of Iran's nuclear capabilities. That's not on the media or my TDS.

Things change. When a Muslim country who has said for decades that they want Israel wiped off the map and that the US is the Great Satan and that they violently support terrorism against both, most people with any functioning brain would believe them, especially if they were close to having an atomic bomb, which was ironically super powered in its ability by the Obama Regime.

So, yeah, campaigning on not starting a war is great, but factoring in that we haven't had to put any boots on the ground in Iran for an invasion seems ok to me if it also means Iran doesn't have a nuclear bomb,

But Old McDonald, I have zero doubt that your side will get what you want out of this. To see the American public become angry at Trump at a huge number, just like W. had in 2008. To see the Dems benefit in Congress in some fashion, just to gum up the system, impeach Trump again, and try to kill him again. If you don't kill him, make him uber unpopular and hang him over Vance and Rubio, so you get President Harris, Buttgig, or Newsom. Your goal is to get power back in full in 2028, for gaining the White House, the Senate, and the House, then expand the SC to 15 justices and put age restrictions on the justices and then add DC and Puerto Rico as states. Eventually, you get rid of the Electoral College first, then get overturn the President's term limits when you get a President you want to serve for decades. And then you repeal the 2nd Amendment.

But then you all get to work with your Islamic friends, who use you for convenience, but will gladly come after the USA with everything they have to gain control here, just as they are doing now in Western Europe. Your sides are under an umbrella together, but you are incompatible in every way imaginable. Unlike the GOPe vs MAGA, who can coexist together because of shared faith and shared history, your two sides share none of it. And communists versus Islamists is only a fair fight if the communists aren't woke. In the west, they are. Until that changes, the Iran's of the world will continue to get more powerful. And it's why they absolutely cannot be allowed to have nuclear capabilities in ANY fashion.

I'm business partners with a group of persian n Austin. They are all praying that the IRGC falls bc they grew up in the heyday of the sha.

I'll gladly pay more at the pump in order to rid Iran of Islam extremism.

The problem is that the extra $$ that we pay at the pump don't help get rid of the IRGC. Those dollars don't go to our military, or arming resistance or anything else. When this is all over are you really going to sit down and say "I spent $500 more on gas over the last year or so, but it was worth it because the IRGC is significantly degraded"?

I was stating dealing with the increase as opposed to funding the fight.

Anyone know if that amount is a lot or just a blip that won't be noticed?

It's less than half a percent of global oil consumption but it's a little more complex of a calculation than that. Certain refined products are already in a bind so taking more production of those products offline could be bad.

You do realize Trump and his family are actively, and have been doing business with Muslims in the ME, right?

Per the Google...

Quote:

Donald Trump and his family have extensive and lucrative business dealings, real estate projects, and cryptocurrency ventures involving entities in both the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar. [1, 2, 3]
Financial disclosures and investigative reports show that these Middle Eastern ties have generated tens of millions of dollars for the Trump family business

Dealings with the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
  • Cryptocurrency Venture: Days before the January 2025 inauguration, the Trump family sold a major stake in their cryptocurrency business, World Liberty Financial, for $500 million to a firm linked to Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's national security adviser and brother of the UAE president. [1, 2, 3]
  • Crypto Investment Flow: A UAE government fund also invested billions in stablecoins tied to World Liberty, allowing the Trump-affiliated company to generate substantial interest revenue. Details of this transaction are covered by KCRA. [1]
  • Real Estate and Hotels: The Trump Organization is partnered on major real estate projects in Dubai, including an 80-story Trump Tower Dubai valued at $1 billion, alongside the existing Trump International Golf Club Dubai
Dealings with Qatar
  • Luxury Golf Resort: The Trump family partnered with Qatari Diara real estate company backed by Qatar's sovereign wealth fundto develop a major golf resort and club in Doha. [1, 2, 3]
  • Licensing Revenue: Financial filings analyzed by outlets like The Wall Street Journal show that Qatari developers have paid millions to the Trump company in branding and licensing fees

For those wanting LDP to come back and grovel, despite the ongoing, unresolved, uncertain next steps, MOU, SOH closed, SOY closed, and such, gas prices have NOT spiked to $10/gallon and oil is PLUMMETING (had to use the terminology, since the opposite is used when oil goes up at all it's SKYROCKETING!) 6%+ to just under $84 - within the long-term boundaries of $40-$100 and near the high end of long-term averages over the past 20 years of $65-$78.

In short, the conflict in Iran has had a short-term elevation in oil prices and in turn gas prices. But its not in any way, shape or form the existential crisis many want it to be.

Consumer spending, particularly retail, has remained robust. Some indication people have adjusted highly discretionary spending like entertainment and travel. OMG, the horror.

For those who just cannot stomach the pain at the pump, I have a question. If you are that sensitive to gas prices, do you drive a vehicle with the highest MPG? Drive a hybrid at least? Or drive an electric?

*****ing about the gas you put in the F350 diesel and how much it costs to haul your 5th wheel to Garner 3 times this summer is not suffering from a rather meek increase in gas prices whilst the US saves the world from nuclear armed jihadist. If you don't believe their intentions, here is a follow on X with declarations on what they still want to do and confirmation that the previous Supreme Leader was FOS when he said Death to America only meant leaving the area and getting back to writing poetry..

" Brent crude, the international benchmark, fell $6.35, or 6.6%, to $90.41 a barrel, while the U.S. benchmark, West Texas Intermediate, slipped 5.7% to $84.23. "

We can engage in this game indefinitely. The reality is that prices will plummet when the missiles cease and will increase again once they are reactivated. The crucial question is whether we will deplete our oil reserves before we exhaust our missile supply. I think we know the answer to that question.

Good point. Up or down the reserves are being used. I saw somewhere the other day that the reserves are the lowest they've been since the 70s.

If true, I'd imagine that's not something that'll bounce right back up the day this war or whatever eventually and somehow ends.

For No Spin you have this incorrect. Grok says 1983.

Usually if you have to start a sentence with "if true", then the previous statement is likely misinformation.

And its been posted before, by me, that Trump required any draw on the SPR be "repaid" by the take with 1.2 of what is taken. This replaces the reserve plus 20% at zero cost to the taxpayer.

As typical, Trump works for the US taxpayer.
