Okay, now I really want to know where he got the money for his guns.

In the picture of the two rifles, the one on the left is Daniel Defense DDM4 V7 Pro which goes for about $2200. Optic is an EOTech XPS2 Holosight which goes for about $700. So just the gun and optics is over $3000 after taxes.

Not sure yet what the other one is; can't see any real markings on it.

I think his plan was the high school but ended up at the elementary after crashing his car. That's what it sounds like to me

A DPS officer on CNN just stated that he crashed the truck and fled to the school. He didn't know anything about the time prior to the crash. He said the shooter was wearing body armor and carrying a rifle.

What about Death Metal, Dungeons & Dragons, and satanic cults?

However, you need to realize and understand this is just part of the price we pay for living in a gun culture society / country. Mass shootings do not happen in any other 1st world country, Europe, Asia, etc. with any level of frequency other than the USA. If you use suicides per capita as a barometer for mental health, plenty of other countries have similar or worse rates of suicide than the US. Of those countries, strict gun free countries almost never have mass murders simply because guns aren't accessible. The US doesn't have more evil or mentally ill potential mass murderers per capita than any other country, and probably a lot less considering our wealth, and mental health/therapy isn't much of a stigma anymore. I love my Glocks and I know nothing else I own comes close to their killing power.

But anyway, I doubt anything will change reality. All the background checks, mental health checks etc can only do so much once a deranged 18 year old decides to commit mass murder. Hell, the Buffalo mass murderer who travelled hours to shoot black folks was 18 years old and bought his firearms legally. We're all starting to forget about it anyway.

In all the places I've lived (including Bryan right now), only the high schools and around half the time the middle schools had SROs. Because in the vast majority of school shootings, the shooter is a student at the school being shot up. Also because teenagers are much, much more likely to do the kinds of illegal stupid and/or violent things that might need a law enforcement response.

I don't think I've ever lived anywhere that had cops on elementary campuses full time.

Off the top of my head, I can only think of three school shootings at elementary schools: this one, Newtown, and one in Stockton, CA back in the late 80s/early 90s (and the shooter in Stockton didn't even set foot on school grounds, just shot kids at recess with a rifle from nearby woods or bushes.)


I have yet to see in this incident whether the shooter went to the school deliberately intended to shoot a bunch of kids, or if he ended up there while fleeing police after shooting his grandmother and possibly others, and once he realized he was trapped and couldn't get away, decided to go out in an orgy of blood. If he had gotten into a classroom and locked himself in, I can see where he could well have had the time necessary to kill everyone inside that room before even a SWAT team could breach the door.

Something like 2-3% of the population are born tending towards a psychopathic personality. Many are not in the extreme and are only antisocial or highly self absorbed but not violent or excessively harmful. Others are truly thoroughly psychopathic and can be violent and self absorbed and nihilistic if they are also neurotic and fatalist or have other mental troubles. Psychopaths that aren't carefully socialized as young children spend a lifetime as an outsider who cannot relate to others and often have a deep resentment of others. There is ALWAYS going to be a small fraction of the population capable of something like this. The only real way to stop them is detection and intervention.

I posted the exact same thing on another thread. Statistically speaking, a certain percentage of the population always will be made up of psycho/socio-paths. The difference now is their names, photos, and actions are spread across the world in a matter of seconds. In the past, people who did things like this mostly faded into history. Now they live on forever in internet stories.

This kid was a ticking time bomb waiting to go off, and he chose to inflict damage that would ensure him a sick notoriety and infamy.
