Thanks for posting about AC/DC!

My Dad has always said AC/DC was the loudest and best concert he has ever been to and always wanted my sister and I to experience it. We have previously not been able to make it work when they were in the US. Now, the 3 of us are going to the Arlington show. My dad is so freaking excited to see his favorite band again and experience it with his daughters!

Took the fam to see Ben Folds at the Majestic in Dallas tonight. Fun show (for the second set, you write your request on a paper airplane and throw it at the stage). Hardd to imagine a better venue for a guy and a piano, sounded amazing. My airplane made it to the stage, unfortunately he didn't pick mine, luckily he did pick someone's who had the same song (Philosophy) I wanted to hear.

Billy Strings absolutely torched Dickie's last night in FW. First time to see him but have listened to a lot of his live shows and i knew in the first set it was a special one. Instagram and Reddit comments seem to confirm that was an all timer of a show. Blew my mind.

I saw it at woodlands in late 90s. If I remember it was acoustic guitars right?

Gotta say last night, seeing acoustic on the stand before they came out, never would have imagined they opened with that.

Totally stoked I saw unforgiven II. Major unicorn. Only played 6 times, one was award show, others overseas.

Just realized, this setlist pic doesn't indicate that fuel was an alternate version.

It was still electric, my buddy thinks he remembers James playing a tele.
As I recall it, it was slower with a half time feel, and totally different vibe, kind of countrified a bit.

Drank way too much for 12 hours, details are fuzzy by that point. (I think 8 beers, a plane whiskey, and 4 double bulleits at the show!

Show was recorded for metallica YouTube channel dec 19.

The opener; not my favorite kind of stuff, but nothing wrong with seeing some legends stage.

I believe it was acoustic with some reverb

I remember them huddling closer together, and like an old Edison looking light above their heads with a relatively darker stage. Sitting down to play.

Just after. Cunning stunts was 97 and I was 17 and not able to go yet. This was reload tour with Days of the New and Jerry Cantrell in '98.

Cunning Stunts they faked another pyrotechnic malfunction. After that a single lightbulb came down around a small band set up and they played a short Garage Days set.

I don't remember the arena show (cunning stunts) having the light bulb. Guess I need to rewatch the dvd!
Setlist doesn't indicate they stripped down for the encore, its last caress, MOP sandman and motorbreath.

But yes that was 97 with CoC in arenas.
98 was amphitheater with the acoustic encore of low man's lyric, 4 horsemen and last caress. Cantrell and days of the new. Def. Remember the light bulb for this encore.

I've seen Sammy tons and he always puts on a great show! Dude is a legend in his mid 70s.

Glad you enjoyed it. I was there with my family all first timers and they were mesmerized by it all. In your first show you got a 44 minute Meet Me at the Creek>Spinning>Thunder>Creek which was quite possibly the best live piece of music I've ever seen. Relistened on nugs and it's mind boggling.

Just got back today from the following two nights in Austin. ACL Live Moody was an all sit down show and flawless. A true 1/1 show and a complete curveball.

And then they burned down Austin last night at the big Moody. It was the best 3 day Billy run I've had out of four of them and 21 shows now. Can't wait to run it back for three nights in NOLA in two weeks!

Just realized I'm in a likely very small group of people who have seen the Metallica Unforgiven trilogy live

Unforgiven II was played only for the 7th time last Friday.
It debuted at Billboard music awards which has to be nearly negligible for metallica fan attendance.
Then once in canada, then 4 times in europe. So for American concert goer, it's very slim.

UIII has like 3 european appearances, then russia, japan, one random nebraska show, then the symphony shows.

Very little potential overlap with II and III.

I did it with S&M 2 and AWMH 2024.

That's really cool! I was at S&M 2 and loved that version of it. How was AWMH?

I had a blast. Probably drank a bit too much.. but the feels were overloaded the whole time.
What they did with 3 reload songs was perfect.. play two that are really rare, and then play a common one but change it all up.
And a little mini S&M with the sistastrings accompanying NEM.

The pic above is from the fuel - rearrangement.

I can't wait to watch it again on the 19th.

That's awesome! I definitely rewatched the FW show on Nugs the next day, and watched the livestream Saturday in Austin.

Next up is Goose in Austin for NYE
