Dude is gonna pull off vocals for both bands in one night?
Trust me when I say, I was as skeptical as you could be when I first saw them a couple of years ago, and I was super impressed. He has excellent technical skill, don't know how he does it honestly! He's a bad mofo, and a nice dude on top of it.

Saw Jeff Lynne's ELO at the Moody Center last night. It was an excellent show. The presentation, production, and sound were all amazing. Some of the songs sounded richer and fuller than they do on the recordings. Jeff put on a good show, but he looked a bit lost at times. Sad to see; but it was an amazing concert overall!

My wife and I have been kind of doing the same thing. We've seen Kansas, Styx, REO Speedwagon, and Chicago over the past 3 years. Up next: ELO.

Going to see Norah Jones at 713 tonight, never seen her and been a fan a long time. Looking forward to it.
How was this? I've been dying to see her for 22 years now. Had tickets in my cart on TM two nights ago and accidentally canceled my order. When I went back for the same spot they were gone and all that were left were $300 plus seats and I couldn't pull it off. Was very disappointed sitting around last night.

Here live stream from Red Rocks I bought a couple of months ago was phenomenal.

Well damn, sorry to hear man! It was excellent, we had a total blast. Her band is AWESOME (as to be expected), and their 3 and 4 part harmonies were amazing. My goodness Norah is such a fantastic singer, it sounds effortless but yet soulful and powerful. Loved hearing a few tracks from "Little Broken Hearts", as well as her excellent cover of Tom Waits' "Long Way Home." I honestly could have done without "Don't Know Why" and had another song, but still it was fantastic. Amazing night of music from superb musicians, with just the right amount of specialty lighting that added ambience without being distracting. Also, the sound in 713 Music Hall is just awesome (for most shows), I love seeing shows there for that reason alone. Doesn't hurt either that they have a ton of bars/bartenders, so very short wait for drinks also.

Great time, and my GF even got a set list!

Ain't ashamed to say that Jeff Lynne (ELO) was great tonight at Toyota Center! Was clear this was gonna be it, so wanted to see him once, and he didn't disappoint. He sounded pretty good, and the band was fantastic. Had a great time.

Seconded. I always liked their songs as a "not quite old enough to go to a concert of theirs" young fella, never mind that they probably didn't get within 200 miles of where I grew up.

When I saw that this was going to be their last time on tour, I made it a point to go last night...damn glad I did. They sounded great! I was kind of hoping that they'd play "Calling America" at some point (their last charting single) or maybe "End of the Line" as a nod to the Traveling Wilburys, but not at the expense of what they did play. Set list was on point.

SO glad I went. Discovery was the first album I bought with my own money, and I've been a fan ever since. The setlist was great. Jeff is a trooper. He sounded especially good on the ballads.

First I've heard of Rooney. Good stuff.

I went to the ELO show in Houston and it was great. Had never heard of Rooney and they were good, playing song after song. If you are going to the Dallas show, understand that Jeff Lynne is older and it shows. Tough for a 76 year old guy to travel from city to city compressed in this time period and be sharp all the time. He was a little slow on some vocals and there was almost no interaction with the audience. He had another band member introduce the members of the band. But he stood the whole show with his guitar and powered through the songs for the most part. The orchestration and musicians were beyond great. The sound and lighting were outstanding. The songs took me back to high school and college. My 30 year old son went to the Austin show and loved it as well as he is an ELO fan. But well worth it if you are thinking about going. Jeff says this is it and this is one that I truly believe.

Those are great seats. We were directly back from the stage on the second level.

As has been mentioned, a great show! Lynne is definitely showing his age, but still great, and the musicians/singers are incredible!

Rooney was impressive. Turns out the lead singer is a Coppola...uncle is Francis Ford Coppola, and cousins are Sophia Coppola and Nicolas Cage. He's also an actor and a director and (according to my wife) played the dorky boyfriend in The Princess Diaries.

Oh, and the name Rooney comes from Ed Rooney, the principal in Ferris Beuller's Day Off.

He's not the only musical Swartzman. His brother, actor Jason Swartzman (Rushmore, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, etc) was a founding member of Phantom Planet, who had one big hit, "California" (which was also the theme song for The O.C.).

Schwartzman also put out 3 albums as the frontman to his own band Coconut Records. (West Coast being the most notable song).

Liked Rooney also would have liked to hear a song that wasnt in same beat but the lead singer had energy

Lynne must have been an Aggie with all the Gig'em's thrown around

We got a kick out of him calling us "lovely" when we applauded him. "You're lovely, every one of you".

So polite, so British.

Saw Willie nelson last night for the first time. Really enjoyed it and the wx was absolutely perfect for lounging in the lawn with the wife.

Idk why I expected anything different but good lord the smell of people smoking weed was so obnoxious.

Saw Sturgill Simpson last night at the Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary, NC (in the Raleigh area). The venue was nice - outdoor amphitheater in a wooded area (I was leaning against a tree for most of the show). Mostly standing room GA, but there were some tables you could buy elevated at the back. I arrived early and had no trouble parking, but it looks like it got a little hectic closer to showtime.

The show was great, as expected - the band played basically three hours straight with minimal crowd interaction. Apparently someone towards the front did faint, because he asked someone to "bring a Snickers and a chair" and then told us to bend our knees. Setlist is here - more from Passage du Desir than anything else, as expected, but a good mix across his catalog; I could've used a little more from Sound and Fury, but I got A Good Look and Best Clockmaker on Mars, so I won't complain too much. He also mixed in a bunch of covers, with Purple Rain and A Whiter Shade of Pale standing out.

Other observations:
1. The band is really good, duh.
2. Sturgill looks a lot like late wrestling icon Terry Funk.
3. He cracked himself up during The Promise. Randomly said "Everybody get naked and ****", then went right into "Sometimes when I shout / It's not what's intended / These words just come out". Couldn't get them out and had to stop for a minute while he giggled.

11/10 would recommend.

Was also at the Sturgill show last night. Great concert and great weather for an outdoor venue. Looking forward to doing it again tonight
