Signed up for 5th member just now and still tons of tickets available. I'm thinking I'll probably go 300 level. I love that my 13 year old is becoming my concert buddy (we've seen Jimmy Eat World, Guns N Roses, and have pit tickets to Weezer this weekend), BUT it doubles the concert cost.

Looking at the same section that myself, my wife, my daughter, and daughters friend sat in for Zach Bryan. The cost of two tickets is about the same cost as it was for 4 to that show. damn!

Also a drastic difference from the other concert ticket I bought recently, Cursive @ White Oak, GA.... $25!

Nice! I'm also considering Weezer Sunday with the kids

What's the best source/website(s) to see all upcoming shows for all music types in the Houston area? I get Live Nation emails, but I'm sure there's a complete list out there. I'm sure I could google it, but didn't know if there was one site that everyone uses as their go-to resource. TIA

I periodically check all the websites of all the venues.
I'm in Denver so might be more manageable, but all in all, we have the stadium, the arena, soccer/baseball field and one pavillion.. all of these bigger venues have much more visibility as to who is coming..
But then we have maybe a dozen clubs/theaters and I'll just check the websites.

Then extended area includes boulder, co springs and fort collins which adds another 2 big venues plus a half a dozen clubs/theaters.

Yearly Lyle Lovett show with his large band coming in about a month.

Great photo!

I loved the BEAT show I saw in Phoenix, still digesting it a week later.

Tony Levin is a treasure - he's played on

Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill
Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer
Paul Simon - Still Crazy After All These Years
Paul Simon - Late in the Evening
Alice Cooper - Welcome to my Nightmare
Ringo Starr - Drowning in the Sea of Love
Carly Simon - Give me All Night
Pink Floyd - Learning to Fly
John Lennon - Woman
John Lennon - Watching the Wheels
Bryan Ferry - Slave to Love
Tom Waits - Downtown Train
Warren Zevon - Reconsider Me
Stevie Nicks - Long Way to Go
David Bowie - Where are we Now?

Plus King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Yes, Liquid Tension Experiment, Steven Wilson, Chuck Mangione, Peter Frampton, Andy Summers, James Taylor... on and on.

Adrian Belew, the singer/guitar/main organizer of BEAT, is no slouch either.

He's played and recorded with Frank Zappa (check out City of Tiny Lights), Talking Heads, David Bowie, and of course King Crimson. And he's the guitarist on Tom Tom Club's Genius of Love, which has been sampled by rappers and Mariah Carey and everyone else it seems like. And he's on Paul Simon's You Can Call Me Al. And a number of Nine Inch Nails albums.

I've always laughed at the look that Bowie gives him at the beginning of this video too.

who got Metallica Houston tickets today? I thought I would be SOL but got through the queue pretty quickly.

Seems like the demand wasn't that crazy for seats.

might be because the club presales are all over? Their club is free.

edit to add; nevermind, the general onsale isn't live yet, you did some presale.

I've never had issues with presales; for denver shows, I logged in the queue at 5 till, and was buying tickets within a minute or two after 10, and I got 2nd row.

I toyed around with the 5th member presale and Citi Bank presales the last couple days and then today used the LiveNation presale to get 4th row on the 300 level, aisle seats. At no point was it hard to get in or find seats. I'm sure it will sale a ton of tickets but I agree the initial rush didn't seem to be bad at all.

those presales help a ton in keeping the surge down, since they all have specific users, and it's not the general public.

I'm curious how friday's general on sale goes, and what kind of tickets are left. Might be some good ones, since they have so many enhanced experiences for sale through the club, all of those that don't sell, the seats will go back to the pool I guess.

I happen to take a screen shot of Houston, all the yellow stars are the 'one' ($1k) and 'seek and destroy' ($650) package which were significantly more than the blue seats. ($400ish after fees)

But surely some of those yellows didn't sell, and now they'll be available at general onsale..

I'm only guessing anyway.

Caught the Lucinda Williams/Mike Campbell tour in Mesa last night. Lucinda opened (despite it being a co-headline tour, she's opening every night), then Mike & the Dirty Knobs played, then Lucinda came back out and played with Mike & co.

It was great to finally see Lucinda live, she's someone I've wanted to see for decades, and it never lined up for me. She doesn't play guitar anymore, because of a stroke she suffered a few years ago. It also seems to have affected her in other ways - she said thank you to the audience and started walking off stage before they'd played their final song of their set (a cover of Rockin' in the Free World). And she had to read the lyrics off of a prompter all night. Otherwise she was in good spirits and seemed happy to be there.

Mike Campbell was great. The drummer from the Dirty Knobs (Matt Laug) is the touring drummer for AC/DC now, so as a replacement Mike brought in former Heartbreaker Steve Ferrone. So it was very cool to see two of the four Heartbreakers playing together. Mike's set was great - mostly Knobs songs but with some Petty thrown in as well (Listen to her Heart, All or Nothing, and Refugee).

Then Lucinda and her band came back out and joined in with Mike, and they played a final set, mixing in Lucinda songs and more Petty - Changes the Locks, Southern Accents, and You Wreck Me.

All in all a blast of a show!

I wasn't at this yesterday but I was on the couch ready to watch Billy Strings play from his own festival Renewal in Buena Vista, CO. They are notoriously on time and the show kept getting delayed on nugs.

Billy releases his new album yesterday (which is freaking phenomenal btw), I'm sure is pumped as hell to debut some of the new tunes last night and what would have been tonight, and his wife went into labor and he had to bolt an hour before taking the stage and the other four band members played 2 full sets without him.

Can't even imagine the whirlwind of emotions in a 24 hour span for that guy and what a buzzkill it must have been for all of the attendees waiting for the band to come out only to find out Billy had to fly out last minute.

Update from Billy Strings just casually taking Ringo Starr's jet out of Buena Vista. He's collaborated on Ringo's upcoming album to be released in January.

Dude has played with TOOL twice, Phish twice, Les Claypool, Bob Weir, Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, and so many others I can't even recall right now. Do yourselves all a favor and go see them in Fort Worth or Austin in December.

Quote:

Hey yall!! Quick update..

I arrived in Buena vista Thursday night ready to rock out at renewal with my band and all my friends .. but knowing in the back of my mind that there's a chance I might have to get back to Michigan at a moments notice if my wife went into labor.. we were really hoping that baby boy would wait till Sunday morning at least but he had plans of his own. Friday morning I got to the festival site and did a soundcheck and a quick Q&A set about the album.. I was hanging out backstage getting ready to rehearse for our set when my wife called and told me her water broke. I immediately hopped on a jet (thank you ringo starr for lending me your ride) and headed back.

I was mortified to leave the fans hanging and to leave the responsibility of the gig to my band and friends who stepped up and kicked ass in my absence. ( I owe you all a cold beer! ) but I was so excited to get back to my wife because she needed me…

I got to Michigan Friday night around midnight and we have been in labor ever since.. we labored all day yesterday and we're still in the race. Ally is doing amazing! she is so strong. I've never witnessed anything like it.

There is an unbelievable amount of strength and courage in that woman. We are still here and she is doing great work. Baby and mother are both healthy. We are hoping to meet our boy today! I'll let you all know when he's here. But for now please just keep sending Ally all of your thoughts of love and strength.
I cannot wait to meet him

Regarding renewal. I WILL find a way to make it up to you.. just give me a sec to be with my family. I'll figure out a way to make it up to you I promise!
And for those wondering .. as long as all goes well here in the next day or 2, pine knob is definitely a GO!!

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this amazing time .. and always for your love and support. You all mean the world to me. Thank you

Got the best kind of tickets (free) to Weezer at Toyota center. Actually I am a bigger fan of one of their openers, Flaming lips, so that was the highlight, but Weezer was cool, played the blue album in order to complete their set. 30 year anniversary of blue and went with buddy of mine that I met my freshman year at A&M 30 years ago this month, so that both made it special for us and made us feel really old.

My 13 year old and I were in the pit. Great show. I too was excited to see The Flaming Lips. Had never seen them before.

Third time to see Weezer and it was a good show. Blue Album is an all time classic and great to hear it front to back.

I checked it out in 2017 when the Aggies were up by 34 points and had the second biggest collapse in college football history. A very tall tree fell out of nowhere on our walk out of there about 10 yards behind us which seemed fitting.

If you go try to stay at the Langham Hotel. Stayed there for that game and again back in January when I was seeing moe. in LA. Place is incredible.

Haven't been to a concert there but have watched Depeche Mode 101 many times and it looks like quite the scene.
