I kinda like Rancid, but an 8 song set means they are still playing 6 songs I don't know.

Thanks for the input Mrs. Armstrong. Smashing Pumpkins canceled the Austin show.

Follow up from The Mavericks in Dallas last Saturday: They were fantastic! So much energy and the songs were incredible. The crowd was fun.
I've never seen this before though: during the first two songs, you could see Raul Malo was having issues with his guitar and kept talking with a roadie who came on stage and tried to fix whatever was wrong. He then said something to the effect of this has started off crappy and they were going to take 5. The roadie continued to work on the speakers and brought out new ones. They returned to the stage and halfway through the next song you could see he was not happy and then his guitar stopped working again and he's pissed. He then says something and HEAVES his guitar off stage and storms off. They come back later and finish the show but that was a first for me (except for Axl Rose who broke his guitar on purpose). Made for a tense beginning but they overcame and were incredible. I wonder if the roadie had to walk home?
they have already toured 3 years in a row, 2022-2024.G.I.Bro said:
I don't see metallica touring 3 years in a row. A couple festivals, maybe

Deftones and Mars Volta are doing an arena tour together. They are hitting all 4 of the big Texas cities.
Austin (4/12), San Antonio (4/13), Dallas (4/15), and Houston (4/16)

Toyota Center for TMV and Deftones? Good lord. I've still never seen the latter, but they're not known for being great live either.
That was my initial thought but they did some arena stops for their 2022 tour. I imagine they go with a lower bowl only setup. Perhaps they start off offering the entire arena and then move down the upper deck people if its evident by the day of the show that everyone will fit in the lower bowl.Goldie Wilson said:
Is there enough Deftones demand for an arena tour?
I just don't like arenas but will make exceptions for certain bands. Both of these still have big fan bases.jetch17 said:cc10106 said:

Even I think that's silly for Houston (even though I'm seeing them in a stadium in November)
ill say Deftones have had packed shows for damn near 30 years ... all the homers (including myself) will buy tickets, and as mentioned TMV folks will come since they dont get out often. Deftones for some reason have hit a resurgence lately with younger folks.johnnyblaze36 said:
Ask the Black Keys how this worked out for them. There are others that followed that I can't remember off the top of my head.
