Dude, you are trying so very hard here and doing a wonderful job of showing us what kind of person you are.

I don't understand how this story is so offensive or 'destructive' to you. Are you not capable of looking past a person's sexuality to just enjoy a good story? Did the bear love upset you that much? Jeez...
you are not comprehending anything i am saying

i dgaf who or what someone likes to ****.

however, the agenda being pushed is deliberately divisive and destructive to everyone.

they abused the story to push the agenda and deliberately force this divisive conversation.

the agenda and its purpose is offensive, not homosexuality, to me at least.

The existence of gay people in popular media isn't an agenda. The characters were gay in the original content. You need to get over it.
i am long over it, the show was just an eye roll, go back and read my posts.

but i will never get over useful idiots pushing this agenda everywhere, including this forum. as long as people are still pushing it, i'll respond.

did 20% of the game play involve 2 dudes getting in and out of the shower and bed together?

j/k, lol, lord knows you can't make jokes about it.

Ok if you're over it kindly leave the thread so that those of us who enjoy the content can discuss it without having your agenda conspiracy theories plastered all over it.

Thanks in advance.

Finally watched episode 3. Reminds me of episode 5 of Mythic Quest, just a great love story that may not advance the overall story but adds to it in some small way.

The cinematography and lighting on this episode and show are great.

Someone on the other thread pointed out that the showrunner was the one who wrote the one-off from the second season that had the same kind of vibe. Also reminded me I hadn't watched season 3 yet, so started that yesterday.

For any gamers in this thread, I recently purchased PGA2K 23 and tonight I just randomly discovered that someone designed a Last of Us golf course that is set in Seattle...that's west of Boston.

It's fantastic and whoever created that is the Pete Dye of video game golf course creation. No telling how long that took them and can't recommend it enough if you have the game. Just looked under top rated courses as usual and was like holy **** there's a Last of Us course suddenly on here?!

It delivered.

How is that show? I love Rob McElhenney and Megan Ganz and have watched every single Always Sunny podcast and hear them reference it all the time but haven't gotten around to it.

It's pretty good, probably the most accurate depiction of the games industry out there. The episode he mentions, though, is an absolute masterpiece in storytelling.

I'd recommend avoiding NGT - as the long diatribes about people's sexuality and why or why they didn't do something (they seem to not understand these characters all have flaws) are pretty exhausting

this picture got me thinking....

what are the odds that they....just for a brief moment....stick the camera in an overhead view like the game trailing Joel to mimick how the game looked....not too long because if so it'd be really distracting (like how they did it in Doom)....

but would be a hilarious way too on the nose nod to the gamers watching

Have no doubt that got you going, but what does it have to do with Bill? The episode was done to generate heavier engagement. Accomplished. But it was not in and had nothing to do with the game.

You guys do this so ****ing much when a show/movie shows anything that isn't heteronormative white males. A movie highlights women? Its only for social justice. A show shows a black person doing something amazing, obviously social justice. A gay love story, SOCIAL JUSTICE!!!!!

Maybe people just want to tell these stories because they are worth telling? The fact that ya'll think that the only time a non white male or non straight male is worth highlighting is due to some other agenda is just telling on yourself that you don't think those stories are worth exploring. In that world view, anytime anyone other than the people you value are highlighted its due to some weird agenda you've cooked up and not because they might be interesting.

It reveals so much about y'all who constantly do this *****
this is so incredibly dense and full of *****

let's get the facts straight - people have been watching movies about great things done by gay people, gay love stories, minority stories, you name it, for decades and decades now.

until the recent deliberate efforts to use these categories to divide america, no one gave a **** either way, if it was good, it was good.

now, you have 2% of the population being represented in 100% of the content; 6% of the population being represented in 100% of the content; etc., without any regard whatsoever for history, facts, story lines, or anything other than identity politics being deliberately used for destructive purposes.

Whatever you say tinfoil dude. You're doing a great job convincing us all about your conspiracies! That love story we just saw, TOTALLY destructive. Thanks for pointing that out!
I don't understand why we "conspiracy theorists" are batting a thousand. Other thread already derailed but facts are facts.

Is my dislike of episode 3 going to stop me from watching the rest of the series with great enthusiasm? No. Did this damper it a bit? Absolutely.

Those that were in denial earlier this week at least need to admit there was an "agenda" because it was told to us now explicitly. You can still debate the episode but some of our suspicions are now proven. It is what it is. Hoping episode 4 gets back on track and that Joel and Ellie loaded up that truck with a **** ton of strawberries.

they showed a little extra clip from the upcoming episode 4 with pedro pascal on with jimmy fallon....man can't wait for that episode!

there was nothing spoilery for us in there but for fans of the game the section they showed was pretty much straight lifted from a particular segment of the game....therefore id recommend not watching just so you can have that "holy crap that's just how it happened" moment

Just so people have the actual "trick" context....

Quote:

For Nick, it was very much a different person. But at the same time, we didn't get Nick Offerman to not have some of him in it as well. Because that is Bill Bill is complicated. I would definitely argue that Bill doesn't come across as a gay man. It's a little less binary than that. He is a man who never really discovered himself. He lived in a world of mistrust. He lived with his mother for a certain long number of years, she then died, and he had the house. He pulled himself away from society.
He was never going to naturally discover who he was to fall in love with or who he found attractive until Frank came along. And even then, it wasn't just about being a man, it was because he was Frank. It was because Frank is Frank. I felt like it was about making sure to keep reminding them all of that.
It's not as complicated perhaps as it sounds. It's about heart and love and truth. They are kind and gentle to each other. Middle-aged men falling in love, you don't get that all the time, so I think that was nice. They're just such professionals. They didn't need much help and guidance other than just feeling good every day about what we were doing.
Sometimes you have to sort of trick the rest of the world into watching these things before they're like, "Oh, my God, it was two guys. I just realized." I think then they might understand that it's all real. It's just the same love.

https://www.inverse.com/entertainment/the-last-of-us-episode-3-director-peter-hoar-interview

He's talking about subverting expectations of how you see gay men but of course some of you see the word tricked and you instantly think GOTCHA when I am 99% sure you didn't even bother to go to the source material and read what he actually meant.

If you want to believe that this is all part of a Hollywood agenda to turn you all gay, then by all means. What a sad conspiracy driven existence some of you lead.

Well then. Have enjoyed watching this show with my 13 y/o son. That just forced some uncomfortable conversations. I respect personal liberties and choices of others, but am certainly with the other guy in this thread who feels like wokeness is being crammed down our throat, no pun intended.

Maybe I should have been better prepared, but figured most zombie movie materials were fair game like blood and gore, nudity, cursing, and even homosexuality. I think the intimate nature of it, which was the point they were going for, was just something that made it too much.

My kids (two 14 year old boys) can't even watch men and women kissing in a flick with my wife and I without squirming due to their parents being in the room. Definitely couldn't have watched that with the boys, and we live in Montrose and they couldn't care less about the fact that some neighbors are gay. They would have fled.

Ok? I didn't suggest it wasn't. Maybe intimate isn't the best word to describe a drawn out make out session that is up close and graphic.

Im not saying it's not on me. It makes my stomach turn. If the same scene was between two heterosexual people that were grotesquely fat or ugly it would also make my stomach turn and I would fast forward. I guess im guilty of preferring to watch good looking women be involved in my make out sessions.

Had a chance to re-watch today, and again, I think it was just a really sweet, thoughtful and artistically successful story-within-a-story that was refreshingly surprising in a film/series of this genre.

I watched Wheel of Time recently. A thought that's always interested me: What if some type of apocalypse, whether disease or nuclear war, whatever reduced us to living at a technological level similar to that of the middle ages, simply because we lost the means to mass manufacture goods, or to provide international shipping on the scale we enjoy today, etc.

I wondered specifically what rural life would be like when we've been returned to that level of technology/commerce, but sociologically were past homophobia, racial bigotry, oppressive theocratic govts, etc. And even if we no longer had the infrastructure, raw materials, manufacturing capacity etc to provide certain goods, we'd still retain things like our medical knowledge, for example.

That's always been an intriguing idea to me and no film/tv show had ever really explored it, to my knowledge, and I thought WoT might offer a look at that, given that current timeline represented not only the distant past but the distant future, owing to the cyclical nature of the wheel.

Well, I thought this show might offer something similar, and episode 3 was an example of it, in some ways. Hunting/killing zombies is fun once in a while, but what I really want to see is how people live in that world--how they're affected by the circumstances and how resilient they are at keeping hope/optimism and human relationships alive.

tl/dr: Loved it even more the second time.
