Not offended. I just disagree with your opinion. This type of marketing is strategic and seems like they have a plan.

I like what they're doing with whatisthematrix.com, I just feel like it should've kicked off a long time ago rather than 2 days before the trailer.

Good trailer, but... are we sure this isn't a remake?

My guess (and hope) is that the trailer only shows the first half of the movie, and things will take a significant turn in the second half to something we're not expecting. I doubt they just repeat the story of Neo/Trinity waking up.

Honestly, that trailer was awesome! I wasn't really excited for another Matrix, but that looks fun!

If there is not a Broadway style sing-off between Doogie Howser and Kristoff, I am going to have a fit.

Is it 100% a lock that Fishburne isn't in this movie at all? Because that would really suck some major ass. It's Ted's movie franchise through and through, but every person on the planet wanted to be Morpheus in 1999, he was the definition of cool back then.

As much **** as I give the 2nd and 3rd movies of the original trilogy, the first film, along with Fight Club and Pulp Fiction, remain at the top of my list of movies that I had basically no idea what they were about going into them and was just completely blown away by how amazingly different and cool they were.

I liked the trailer and will obviously see this but what the hell is up with the bargain bin Morpheus? Is that supposed to be the same character?

I'm wondering as well.

Some random theories:

It's actually a younger Morpheus, and this is the story of one of the previous versions of The One the architect talked about in Reloaded. (I guess it would require a memory wipe for Morpheus at some point.)

It's meant to be the same Morpheus we saw in the original, and this is a "what if" scenario of if Neo had taken the blue pill rather than the red pill. An alternate reality?

All of our characters are reincarnated and for whatever reason Morpheus is now younger than Neo and Trinity.

What about the idea that instead of building a construct that simulates real life to keep the one in check, they've got him, for lack of a better term, trapped in a maze of different partial realities so he can't really figure out what's going on - the dreams, the deja vu, the meeting people, even the pills are all partial memories, but every time he sort of figures one out, it just leads him to another and another and another, thus keeping him from ever really breaking free.

Of course, I still can't remember anything about the last movie except for the fact that when Trinity saw actual sunlight for the first time in her life, it should have burned the **** out of her retinas.

I've definitely got enough to be very intrigued at this point. It has a bit of remake vibe but I strongly doubt they're going fully that direction, I am really curious why Thomas/Neo (and Trinity) doesn't remember things or how he got here.

And Jessica Henwick is looking like a total badass.

Interesting at least. In the MXO game which the Wachowski's claimed, at the time, was official cannon, Neo's code fragments were recovered and were being protected by the machines. Wonder if they stay anywhere near that storyline.

Along those lines...Neo's source code is still contained within The Source. So what if this movie is him remembering his previous life, "waking up" again, and thus giving him the ability to take over the Deus Ex Machina with his own consciousness to free humanity?

He'd have to somehow battle the machine to take it over, of course.

Can't wait for this one - going to have to go back and watch the first 3 again to get primed.

The movie looks amazing visually - as were the originals - interested to see it in XD/Imax.

Thought it was interesting that Reeves went with the John Wick look instead of the old clean-cut Neo - maybe to show how things have changed.

im just waiting for the good youtubers to post their 10-15 minute videos breaking down the trailer frame by frame to highlight what we missed

it is interesting to note that the typical green hue that existed in all 3 of the original movies when they were actually in the Matrix is no longer there

I'm trying not to get excited for this, but I have to admit, I'm starting to. The first movie is a top 10 for me. That is why the two follow-ups were such a huge disappointment. After digging around a bit trying to remember the finer points of the third movie, and the online game (which is canon). Here are a few things that might be useful for interpreting what is going on:

Morpheus was killed in the online game. Since this is canon, then this might be why we see someone else playing him. Which honestly, looks like a younger version of him. It's possible he only exists inside the Matrix.

Neo was never given back by the machines in the online game. Apparently, they broke their promise from the third movie to return him. So they could have restored him (which I think we might have seen in the trailer).

Trinity could have been restored as they did with Neo. Not sure. And I'm still not certain what all was in the Matrix and what was in 'real life' in the trailer. I need to give it another watch when I'm not avoiding work.

Here is a good explanation on the instances of the Matrix from the Matrix wiki. I think a good understanding of this will be needed to understand wtf is going on in this next movie:

https://matrix.fandom.com/wiki/Reload

A reload is the periodic restarting, or reboot, of the Matrix to temporarily restore it to its full operating capacity.

After approximately 100 years[1] of operation, the Matrix's performance and stability degrades dramatically and leaves the virtual world at risk of a catastrophic system crash that would kill all inhabitants within the Matrix, blue pill, and program alike.[2] To counter this, the Matrix must be reloaded.

The Architect, the creator of the Matrix (and, apparently, one of its system administrators), explains this point to Neo in their only encounter. The Architect tells Neo that the programming that enabled choice for the Matrix inhabitants (created by Oracle) is also the cause of the virtual world's slow destabilization.

The Architect also explains a complication to reloading the Matrix: for some unknown reason, the Prime Program, a key programming necessary to initiate the reload, resides within the programming of the One himself. As a result, the Architect and the Oracle use the Prophecy to lure the One to the Architect's realm, whereby the Architect essentially blackmails the One into entering the door leading to the Source. If the One chooses to enter the second door, which leads back to the Matrix, the Architect warned that humanity would become extinct with the eventual crash of the Matrix and the Machines' deliberate destruction of Zion.

The current version of the Matrix itself has apparently been reset a total of 6 times since its creation. Presumably, its inhabitants had their memories erased each time it was reloaded, as well as when it was first created, which had ultimately been 7 times.

Pumped for this. The trailer had a LOT of action in it which is a little concerning, but hopefully it's more balanced than it looked. I really liked the touch of him regularly taking a blue pill.

I don't know. Sure, it looked cool. But fool me once (Matrix Reloaded), shame on you. Fool me twice (Matrix Revolutions), shame on me.

I don't really want to be fooled a third time. I'll still see this, but my enthusiasm is very, very low.

And seeing the "Also on HBOMax" at the end really makes me pi$$ed off. Way to cut your movie's box office off at the knees, WB.

Yep. Was part of the beta and opening of the game. So much $ was spent on creating it that they never really got enough subscribers to make their money back and they sold it to Sony which watched it eventually die.

I can tell you with 99% certainty NOTHING in the game will be addressed. As most here probably know, when Disney took over Star Wars they de-canonized every Star Wars video game except Knights of the Old Republic I and II. So of course this created a ton of speculation on how, if at all, the new movies would address KOTOR I and II and of course they didn't.

Nobody knows about the matrix online so they won't let that game dictate the story of the movie at all. If they do I'd be shocked.
