Kimmel with a "Hit 'Em With The Hein" at the end.
Well, it's been 20 minutes and The Shape of Water winning Best Picture is already not aging well.ATM1876 said:
I was arguably the most vocal advocate/defender of The Shape of Water on this board, and even I'm a little underwhelmed by this win. I admittedly have an almost irrational obsession with Dunkirk so I was going to be let down if any other film won, but it'll be interesting to see in five or ten years how people think about this one.

Am I the only one who was blown away by how sharp Yves Marie Saint still is at 93, especially given her limited public role that last decade or more?
I liked Dunkirk, but as a history major with a focus on WW2 who has obesseivle forced myself to see most every relavent WW2 movie ever made (or maybe because of it), I just don't get the over the top love so many have for it. As has been said above though, weak year too.ATM1876 said:
I think it was an odd year, but not necessarily a crap year. Every Best Picture nominee had it's supporters and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing most of them. This year it just so happened that every nominee also had it's fair share of detractors, which was rare but also made it more interesting.
I still stand by my statement from a few days ago that I think Dunkirk will be the only one people still talk about ten years from now, with the one possible exception being Phantom Thread.
I haven't seen SoW yet, but I would much prefer more movies like Get Out than more movies like The Post.Brian Earl Spilner said:
I thought it was great and much better than Shape of Water.
I loved Get Out.MBAR said:
This is the only place I frequent that thinks Get Out is undeserving. I think Get Out will age better than any other movie nominated.
