Really hurts us, probably wanted to be close to home. Hopefully Allon or the recent transfer can replace him on the mile relay, but those points are hard to replace... hopefully we can make up for them in the jumps or fielding a distance medley relay.

The current "official" indoor track roster is now posted at tfrrs.com (NCAA site) Listed as redshirting this current indoor season on the men's side are: Jace Comick, Devin Dixon, Carleton Orange, Dewitt Thomas, and Matt Treston. Must assume that while they may compete as unattached runners, they will be ineligible to compete at the conference meet?

yes I believe most of these men exhausted their indoor eligibility, but should all be available for outdoors! So the men will have some holes to fill in 4x4 as they've signed some excellent recruits. Whereas the women's team is returning most of their production including, Tyra Gittens, Deborah Acquah, and their entire 4x4 with the additions of Athing Mu 2:01 - 800 and 51.9 - 400. The woman's team will be heavy favorites/contenders to win both titles.

In this covid environment, additional meets aren't promised. This is an indoor sport with a lot of people involved. Every meet is going to be the most important meet of the season.

What a great start to the Ted Nelson Invitational! Tyra Gittens with a 3 inch PR and Deborah Acquah with huge jumps!

That was also the school record by Tyra Gittens surpassing Deborah Acquah record 6.58m from last year.
Tyra also won the high jump in 1.83m. Sorry she didn't clear the 1.90m this week but some great jumping so far.

Possibly three NCAA qualifying marks so far.
Tyra Gittens - long jump, high jump
Deborah Acquah - long jump

I expect Deborah to qualify in the triple jump too. Also Damara Distin in the high jump (PB 1.87m) who was a bit disappointed today with a 1.70m clearance

Athing Mu is the real deal! 2:01:07 in the 800m today. The NCAA Indoor Championship record is 2:01:09. It's the 5th faster NCAA Indoor time ever!

Bryce Deadmon with a 45.68 is a huge opener and I expect him to contend for a national title, along with Tyra Gittens in the LJ, HJ, and Pentathlon, Deborah Acquah in the LJ and TJ, Arhing Mu in the 800, Allon Clay in the 800, and the Woman's 4x400 relay! It's going to be a great season for out track program and they got things off to a great start today!

It was a really impressive first meet.

Our triple jumpers have have some good competition this year. Ruth Usoro a Texas Tech senior has jumped a huge 14.28m in the women's triple jump and 6.51m in the long jump this past Saturday.

Nice the see ladies sprinters post decent times in the 60m and 200m (7.30s and 23.00s). If we can get the best out of Tierra Robinson-Jones, Julia Madibuike, Laila Owens, Immanuela Aliu, Zhane Smith and Jania Martin we can have lots of additional scoring options. Also hurdlers Kaylah Robinson and Kennedy Smith who both have started the season well

Don't count out our 4x400m men's team. We are yet to see James Smith and Moitalel Mpoke who are both 46 guys and Freshman Etiwe. Great to see Jake Lanier fit again and post a decent 21.39 in 200m and 47.14 split in the relay. Looking forward to see what Lance Broome and Devon Achane do in the 200m this year. Emmanuel Yeboah posted a decent 6.73 in the men 60m opener. If he can get anywhere close to his 6.58 PB this season will be great for the team

One of the other highlights for me was to see an unknown to many hurdler Connor Schulman who came here with not so great times post a 7.85 in his first indoor 60m hurdle race of his sophomore year. He now has the 6th fastest time in A&M indoor history. I will love to see him improve and make NCAA with Andre Turay. Turay didn't contest the final after posting a 7.97 in the preliminary. I hope he is not injured.

Clearly the women's team has a lot more potential scorers than the very young men's team but if the men continue to improve and be consistent anything is possible.

I am already excited for this week meet on Saturday

Great insight, Schulman was a welcoming surprise! Glad to see Hon and the hurdlers doing some work! The trio of Cazares, Bishop, and Seagraves should give us points around conference as well! They won't be the dominant teams of the early 2010's but this group has depth and many ways to score points! I'm excited as well, thanks for your intel!

What impressed me as well was the women's having two 4x400 teams go 3:41 this early in the season, Henry has a lot of talented woman to assemble a dominant sub 3:33 group! The emergence of Charokee Young in the 400 was awesome to see, and she should keep improving if she stays in the 4. Mu can possibly go sub 51, and Richardson sub 52 so it'll be interesting to see who can fill out the squad! Can't wait!

Yeah I am really impressed with the women 400m pool. The good thing about having a big pool is that some of them can be used on the 400m and 800m legs of the distance relay that can help us to finally qualify a distance relay team to NCAA. If transfer Annie Fuller is in good form this season she could anchor the relay team. We could potentially have Dominique Mustin, Athing Mu, Annie Fuller and any of the 400m runners on the distance relay team.
We tried some years ago with Sammy Watson and Jasmine Fray on the team who broke the school relay record but just missed out on NCAA qualification in the distance relay

After watching the meet, I think a Mu, Richardson, Owens, Young 4x400 would be as good as any in the country. That group could easily break the school record.

Crazy to think you still have Reed and Robinson-Jones (who were BOTH on the NCAA champion 4x4 in 2019) and others waiting in the wings. That relay is DEEP deep.

Watch out for Zhane Smith. She had a big foul in the LJ last week. We could potentially have three 21 footers on our hands.

I am interested to see what sort of splits James Smith and Moitalel Mpoke run on the 4x400 relay. They are both debuting this weekend only in the relay. Also the progress of the sprinters and hurdlers

Annie Fuller is schedule for the 1 mile and 3000m. Let's see what sort of early form she has.

I notice there is some 300m and 600m races and I expect some A&M records to be broken in these races since they are not normally schedules events.

No sign of Devon Achane yet but I expect he should be in the fray once the coaches are ready.

No triple jumping yet from either Deborah Acquah or Lamara Distin

Tyra Gittens is High jumping again this weekend probably going after the school record.

This was such an amazing meet! When ttfrs updates the rankings we'll be top ten in 9 events without Acquah in the Triple, and Gittens in the Pentathlon. Kaylah Robinson exploded with a 8.16 in the 60 hurdles which is top ten, and Laila Owens ran a 23.31 in the 200 which is a national top ten as well! The woman's 4x400 move into the top 3 with a 3:32:39 with no one pushing them. Tyra Gittens broke a school record jumping 6'1.5, Deborah Acquah broke a record jumping 21'10, and Athing Mu broke the collegiate record in the 600! This squad is dangerous and should be favorites to win it all this year! Next week the team competes at Texas Tech!!

Jamal sadly transferred back home to Florida State... a huge loss for our men's team. And I believe Infinite Tucker is enrolled in the school but not on the roster anymore. He's a great 400 hurdler and it will hurt not to have him this outdoor season, but James Smith transfer from Arizona and Dewitt Thomas coming back for outdoors will help! As well as Dixon and Orange to make up for Walton's transfer! Triniaggie might have more info on Tucker!

Infinite Tucker was enrolled last semester but is no longer enrolled at the school. He probably still undecided about track and field since becoming a BLM advocate during some of the police killings last year. He has one outdoor season eligibility left.

https://live.pttiming.com/?mid=2108 Here is where you can see the heat sheets for tomorrow's meet! We get to see Tyra Gittens for the first this year in the pentathlon, and Deborah Acquah will compete in the triple jump, and Lamara Dustin in the triple as well! The woman's 4x400 will be chasing a time of sub 3:30 with Syaira Richardson, Athing Mu, Charokee Young, and Tiera Robinson Jones. The men's 4x400 team will remain the same and we will get to see James Smith and Mpoke debut in the open 400 as well! Going to be a fast meet, with lost of competition!! I'll try my best to keep us all updated, as the meet is live streamed on ESPN+. Let's hope for the best, and Gig'em!

Below is one of the articles that speaks to the protest by student athletes at A&M including Infinite Tucker.
If you look at the picture Jamal Walton is there also. A couple of the football athletes were involved and opted out of playing in the recently completed football season
I think this is why Jamal Walton and possibly Thomas Burns sudden left the program and transferred to Florida State

They were great runners for us and I wish them the best. I just hope their love for track doesn't disappear! I like what football player Demarvin Leal said on racial injustice, "I'll have a louder voice when I play well!" These gentlemen could have had a bigger impact and spread their word if they got to the NCAA Chanpionships or even Olympics... but I'm still excited for this track season and for tomorrow! It's gonna be a great meet!

Tyra Gittens jumps out to an amazing Pentathlon start with a life time best in the 60 Hurdles 8.33 and a furthering her school record in the high jump 6'3 1/4!!! 3 more events to go!!
