Meanwhile he has to choose between 7-8 quality 400 girls to field a national championship 4x400, my money is Mu, Young, Richardson, and Martin but i trust Coach Henry!

You are right. We have about 8 women that can run on the relay squad Athing Mu, Charokee Young , Syaria Richardson, Tierra Robinson Jones, Jania Martin, Laila Owens, Julia Madubuike and Dominique Mustin.
Let us hope they all stay healthy and Covid free for SEC and NCAAs

The women 400m is ranked the number 1 in the 400m based on the recent USTFCCCA event squad rankings. The aggies are averaging 52.27 for 400m. USC is second averaging 52.72

Arkansas leads the NCAA in 7 events. It is interesting year in year out how Arkansas continue to have a strong balance of athletes in the distances as well as sprint, hurdles and jumps

The team travel to Arkansas this week for the last meet the Tyson invitational meet before SEC championship.
Arkansas is also hosting the SEC championship in two weeks and NCAA championship in a months time.

Hope we get to see a loaded DMR this weekend! As well as Jania and Laila in the 200, and Annie Fuller get her times lowered! But I understand if Henry is holding off till conference, but it should be a fun meet regardless

Entries are up right now and hopefully heat sheets tomorrow, Triniaggie was correct when they said it would be an absolutely loaded field! I am disaapointed there is no DMR's running for us, but Bryce is in the 400, Annie Fuller in the mile, Syaira Richardson in the 400, Deborah Acquah in both jumps as well as Zhane Smith, Lamara Dustin in the Triple Jump and High Jump (hoping for good marks from her) Schulman in the hurdles, Brown in the weight throw, and all are distance guys, in a loaded field!

The 800 will feature world class runners in Cooper Teare, Sam Worley, and Reed Brown so hopefully we get to see the best out of Brandon Miller and Allon Clay! There's going to be many many fast races as this will be an SEC tune up for us with Texas and Oregon competing as well! Let's hope for the best!

Most importantly our very own Devon Achane is listed in the 200, and I really hope he gets to run!! Gig'em!

I notice a couple of A&M athletes scratched from the original accepted entries.
I guess the positive Covid test a couple of days ago together with contact tracing may have impacted some of the final entries.
There is no men's 4x400 relay team entered this weekend. I guess Mpoke and James Smith is still not ready. Hopefully they are ready by the time SECs in two weeks.
The ladies are definitely focused on the jumps this weekend. Tyra in the high and long jumps, Acquah in the triple and long jumps, Zhane in long and Triple jumps and Lamara Distin in the high and triple jumps. I hope they all qualify for NCAA in each event.
Lets see how Achane perform this weekend. He is drawn in lane 3 (not the best) in the final and highest seeded 200m race so I hope the other guys could push him to a good time.

I was surprised Deadmon wasn't on the watch list, but I believe once he breaks 44 he should be, and Deborah Acquah is one number one mark away from being on there as well! I believe she has the capability of jumping 22+ and 46+ It would be crazy if we had 5 athletes on the watchlist on one point! I can't wait for the meet in a couple hours, I'm hoping the girls have some great jumps so we can get more bodies in Nationals, I wished Annie Fuller wasn't a scratch so we can see her race against the Arkansas girls and hopefully get her a faster time. And who knows if we end up using are stars on a DMR... I'm also paying attention to men's pole vault because I wanna see Sean Clarke break 17 and near his PR of 18! But it should be a great week, nonetheless full of Pr's!!

Nice run by Bryce Deadmon clocking 45.22 in the 400 which is now No.2 in the NCAA behind Randolph Ross (45.21) from North Carolina A&T Aggies. Jacory Patterson from Virginia Tech is right behind in third with 45.24.
Syaria Richardson clocked a season best of 52.51 in the 400m and still finished in 6th place. Four of the top 5 finishers were from Arkansas. I mean this Arkansas team is just loaded in almost every event can potentially score. The Arkansas women distance medley relay team also ran a college leading time of 10.53. Arkansas is no doubt the team to beat this year.They have home advantage for SECs and NCAAs.
Deborah Acquah and Tyra Gittens was solid and finished 1 and 3 in the long jump with marks of 6.58m and 6.43m.
Josh Brown inched closer to the school record with a 20.84m PB in the weight throw.
Our 60m sprinters and hurdlers didn't look good today. No one improve on their previous best and finished disappointingly in their races today
They have two weeks to prepare for SECs now
Let's hope tomorrow is a better day for us in the sprints

Lamar Distin sets a collegiate Pr in the high jump at 5'11.5 which moves her in the top ten in the country, but she pulled herself from the competition before attempting 6 so I hope it wasn't an injury or maybe just a precautionary measure! Tyra Gittens has just cleared 6'2 and is attempting 6'4!

Allon Clay runs a 1:48:45 to put him into the top ten in the country In the 800! So now we can have both him and Brandon Miller could possibly qualify to nationals in the event!

It looked to me that Achane's first curve was a hot mess today.

He finished in a 21.34 which is amazing for just first college I ate race! He has little to no experience racing indoors as was evident on his curves like posted above! But with that speed come outdoors he should a forced to be reckoned with! It's a great start for him and look at him to continue to improve dramatically!

yeah that where the other experienced upperclassmen separates from him! Once he gets the curves and bend that an indoor track forces you to do he will become a monster! That starting time for him is crazy good!

Absolutely. He looked like he was struggling to stay on his line due to inertia.

Those are crazy splits! And I say we go faster if Arkansas didn't pull up! Great to see Syaira bounce back after being tired towards the end of the open 400, she needed that split for her confidence! Jania hadn't raced in a while as she slowed at the end, and no one was close to Athing so this girls team I believe can go even faster! I can't wait!

That group can definitely go 3:25. The margin of victory was mindblowing.

Let's put that 4x400m in perspective (326.27)
The college record was 3.27.03 by USC. They broke the college record by just under a second which is huge.They didn't have much of a competition in the last two legs so could have definitely gone faster.
The A&M outdoor school, record is 3.25.57 so just imagine what we can expect outdoor with Jaevin Reed expected on the outdoor team. The college outdoor record is 3.23.13 by Oregon so watch out
I happy to see Syaira Richardson fully fit now and ready to go. Charokee Young split of 51.12 is just amazing and shows how well she is improving since stepping down from the 800m. Jania Martin did a good opening split and can definitely go faster. Her previous best split is around 52.5.
I really hope this run would motivate the entire team going into SECs and NCAAs especially the sprinters and hurdles who did not have a good meet.

Lamara Distin's 1.82m in the high jump would have qualified her to NCAAs but she DNS in the triple jump. I hope it is nothing too bad but it seems like she is struggling with some injury having scratched several times this season so far. I would have liked to see what sort of mark she is capable of in the triple jump. Hope she is Okay for SECs
