Barely anything on the ESPN website about the NCAA Indoor Championships.
This is an excellent point. There are several other teams you didn't mention that did this too (Alabama comes to mind). Any other year and these teams likely would have knocked Arkansas off enough points in the mile, 3k and perhaps even DMR that would have enabled us to win the meet. Arkansas's winning total was something like third highest ever because the distance races were so watered down. None of our points were in watered down events. Extremely unfortunate circumstances on our part due to the cross country coaches inexplicably not holding their national meet at the normal time of the year.Quote:Quote:
What will absolutely hurt Arkansas is BYU, NAU, New Mexico, Stanford, Washington and other powerhouse distance programs getting back into the mix for outdoors after sitting out indoor track in preparation for cross country nationals.
It is important that this outdoor season the team focus on making qualifying marks and times very early in the season to help mitigate the impact of covid and injuries. Remember what happened indoors many of our good athletes didn't get a chance at SECs or before and we left home many potential qualifiers to NCAAtaylorswift13 said:
Pat Henry on TexAgs radio just confirmed one men's sprinter tested positive prior to takeoff for Arizone! He added 3 other men's sprinters will be quarantined... So our men's 4x100 will not get to run a good time this weekend or next! The bad luck on our men's side continues, but he did mention they are taking a big squad to Tuscon so let's hope for great performances and great debuts this weekend!

Yeah she wa damaging, if you look at her open 400 race she had a horrible horrible start which cause her to play catch up and eventually completely lost out on the pole position! Her and Mu are both young and realizing their strengths! In a one lane 400 she's gonna shock some people! Can't wait to see her compete and she'll most likely get to run in Tokyo as well!
Yeah Mu is a US citizen while Young is Jamaican that why I mentioned for their respective countries meaning US and Jamaicabox65 said:

Very nice. It was odd watching us not compete for 1st in the 4x4 at Indoors. Looks like help is on the way.ldmmjb said:
Cutler Zamzow ran 47.73 in that same race and he signed with TAMU as well. Very nice times.

Track and field regionals
The committee approved reducing the field size for the East and West preliminary round sites in men's and women's outdoor track and field from 48 per individual event to 32. While the preliminary rounds are an important and integral part of the championship format, the reduction will help address COVID-19 concerns associated with a large number of participants.
Relay events will remain at 24 teams per event. This will reduce the overall championship field by a total of 1,152 (576 per site), or one-third of the field.
ALL of the " covid concerns" are way over played!! The contact tracing rule is just plain crazy, particularly in this age group. It's time to let up !TRM said:

Could be both but I say training, I think our other female 800 runners are doing the 1500 as well, and on the men's side Devin Dixon and Brandon Miller are doing the 400 while Carlton Orange is doing the mile, and Allon Clay is doing the 1500! Very odd, but these guys especially Dixon and Orange have been training continuously since last year and I think it wouldn't serve a purpose to taper that training for week one and two of outdoors and rather them work through it to post fast times later on! Although I'm as anxious to see their 800 times go crazy, I'll trust Coach Henry and Coach Mallard!!! Still gonna be a fun meet, hopefully weather complies as you never know with Texas in March lolbebhillah said:
Very interesting to see that Athing Mu is listed to run the 1500 at the Texas Relays. Curious to know if this is just for training purposes or if she and the coaches are looking for a really fast time.
