Barely anything on the ESPN website about the NCAA Indoor Championships.

I have always believed that the two relay races should get more points !

Anyone agree?

Yeah I think it should be double points for the relays. I think it is so for NCAA swimming and diving

I am pretty sure it used to be double points not too many years ago? If not double ,at least 1 1/2 times, i. e., 15 points?

What will absolutely hurt Arkansas is BYU, NAU, New Mexico, Stanford, Washington and other powerhouse distance programs getting back into the mix for outdoors after sitting out indoor track in preparation for cross country nationals.

This is an excellent point. There are several other teams you didn't mention that did this too (Alabama comes to mind). Any other year and these teams likely would have knocked Arkansas off enough points in the mile, 3k and perhaps even DMR that would have enabled us to win the meet. Arkansas's winning total was something like third highest ever because the distance races were so watered down. None of our points were in watered down events. Extremely unfortunate circumstances on our part due to the cross country coaches inexplicably not holding their national meet at the normal time of the year.

Excited to see the men get Dixon and Orange back (among others). This will be the greatest collection of 800 runners ever put together collegiately (seven guys at 1:52 or better). Will have three top notch javelin throwers on the mix too. Achane will be MUCH better outside. We will actually have a decent 4x100 on both sides this year. Lots to look forward to!

LOB I agree the men's team is much better for the outdoor season
Don't forget the 400m hurdlers in James Smith who was has a PB of 49.67 and a 5th place at NCAA last year and Dewitt Thomas with a 50.18 PB. Then the new comers in Andre Turay and Kirk Collins who can run 400m hurdles as well if the coaches decide to try them. Andre Turay PB is 37.72 in the 300m hurdles and Kirk Collins has a 36.86 in 300m hurdles and 52.3 in 400m hurdles.

It would be interesting also to see which events Moitalel Mpoke runs. He has great range in 400m, 400m hurdle and 800m. He has a 50.87 in the 400m hurdles and was the silver medalist at the World Under 18 track and Field Championship in the hurdles. I suspect he might run 400m or 400m hurdles. We already have several top 800m runners.

I also believe the men Pole Vaulters would do much better outdoors. Also looking forward the men high jumpers having a breakout season

In watching the women's 4x4 again I noticed that Charokee Young ran two turns in lane two, and still got under 51.0. She looked really strong on that leg and you have to think she will get to a 50 flat relay leg outdoors.

Yeah she wa damaging, if you look at her open 400 race she had a horrible horrible start which cause her to play catch up and eventually completely lost out on the pole position! Her and Mu are both young and realizing their strengths! In a one lane 400 she's gonna shock some people! Can't wait to see her compete and she'll most likely get to run in Tokyo as well!

Given Young's rapid progress this indoor season, the 4x4 outdoor record looks in reach. I can also see the A&M women absolutely blasting the sprint medley relay record if they give it a shot.

We'll have three ladies that have run 51 in the open 400 and one that has split 49. It is most definitely within reach.

The lack of relay meets this year will hurt our chances in breaking non-traditional relay records (see Men's 4x800).

Pat Henry on TexAgs radio just confirmed one men's sprinter tested positive prior to takeoff for Arizone! He added 3 other men's sprinters will be quarantined... So our men's 4x100 will not get to run a good time this weekend or next! The bad luck on our men's side continues, but he did mention they are taking a big squad to Tuscon so let's hope for great performances and great debuts this weekend!

It is important that this outdoor season the team focus on making qualifying marks and times very early in the season to help mitigate the impact of covid and injuries. Remember what happened indoors many of our good athletes didn't get a chance at SECs or before and we left home many potential qualifiers to NCAA

Here's a cool video of our 800 meter runner Carlton Orange discussing how he balances his time preparing for Aggie Track and being a Master's student at Mays Business School. Not only is he dropping 1:46's on the track but he also teaches young student athletes Financial Literacy in his spare time! What an amazing young man!

We have to be mindful also that if both Charokee Young and Athing Mu qualifies for the Olympics games for their countries, there is a possibility that they may both turn pro. I will love to see see them spend their 4 years here though.

Very nice. It was odd watching us not compete for 1st in the 4x4 at Indoors. Looks like help is on the way.

Didn't mean to imply that your statement was in any way incorrect as far as it went. However, I have seen posts on this forum and the pay forum assuming that Mu was from another country (don't understand why) so I didn't want to leave doubt. Just a gut on my part but I think Mu will return regardless. Not as confident with Young.

Track and field regionals
The committee approved reducing the field size for the East and West preliminary round sites in men's and women's outdoor track and field from 48 per individual event to 32. While the preliminary rounds are an important and integral part of the championship format, the reduction will help address COVID-19 concerns associated with a large number of participants.

Relay events will remain at 24 teams per event. This will reduce the overall championship field by a total of 1,152 (576 per site), or one-third of the field.

ALL of the " covid concerns" are way over played!! The contact tracing rule is just plain crazy, particularly in this age group. It's time to let up !

Very interesting to see that Athing Mu is listed to run the 1500 at the Texas Relays. Curious to know if this is just for training purposes or if she and the coaches are looking for a really fast time.

Could be both but I say training, I think our other female 800 runners are doing the 1500 as well, and on the men's side Devin Dixon and Brandon Miller are doing the 400 while Carlton Orange is doing the mile, and Allon Clay is doing the 1500! Very odd, but these guys especially Dixon and Orange have been training continuously since last year and I think it wouldn't serve a purpose to taper that training for week one and two of outdoors and rather them work through it to post fast times later on! Although I'm as anxious to see their 800 times go crazy, I'll trust Coach Henry and Coach Mallard!!! Still gonna be a fun meet, hopefully weather complies as you never know with Texas in March lol

I would think 800 and 1500 have the same start so it may just be a way to get experience on getting to the inside since she struggled with that indoors

The men that competed 800 for indoors ran the 1500 this past weekend. Could be training work or looking to add another event...

They probably just want to do more endurance work early in the season and work on the speed stuff as they get closer to championship season.

Mu's heat has some decent talent in it. Should be a great race.

After only two meets our men start the season ranked 2nd, with the women 6th! Noted that the women have not had Athing Mu, Charokee Young, Syaira Richardson, Jania Martin, Julia Madabuike, and Jaevin Reed run, nor Tyra Gittens compete, nor Deborah Acquah long jump! But a great start for the men nonetheless!
