If you think Earley was fighting with a short stick, then you don't watch a lot of SEC baseball. Was the team as good as last year? No, although the starting rotation was a LOT better, bullpen was a question mark (until late) and the lineup not as good without Montgomery, Appel, and Burton. Was it a below average SEC lineup? No, not even close. There was plenty of talent on this roster, they just didn't come close to playing to their potential consistently (just about everyone did for brief spells).

The results certainly sucked. The talent didn't.

Earley's performance this season neutered any possibility of future success. He has to rebuild an entire roster and will do so with zero confidence from the kids he needs to recruit. Portal players that have other/better options will be told by competitive coaches that Earley ruined Jace and cost him a ton of cash. Those kids ain't coming here. Schloss gutted our HS commitment list and Earley has not done a good job refilling it. The club baseball community is laughing at A&M and there wont be much interest in Earley being able to grab those top line kids.

It's hard to walk when your legs have been cut off at the knees. And Earley's coaching performance this year did exactly that.

But hey, at least Grahovic is happy we are keeping Mike. Now his buddy will keep going easy on him.

Saban has said multiple times high achievers don't like mediocre people and mediocre people don't like high achievers. Kinda makes you empathetic to Schloss leaving.

Regardless of results, I'm already looking forward to revisiting this thread around this time next year! I'm ready to go on the record and say that I'm glad he's getting another season. Like it or not, his inexperience coupled with our bad luck with injuries were significant factors in how this season turned out. We will see what we think in May '26!

Mediocrity is acceptable as long as you are polite along the way. Ignore what you see on the field with your eyes, just tell everyone how it's ok because we do things the "right way" and we are ok if that means we don't win. We can puff out our chests and proudly say, "we always win halftime". Aggie way and it will never change.

We will have a good feel for our ceiling next season in a few weeks. Need 2-3 big bats and at least 1 high level SP from the portal. I'm afraid that we won't know what the floor is considering what just happened this season.

ahh. Gotcha. Yeah I don't pay for that anymore because premium has just become an avenue for people to feel like they can pay to say whatever they want vs pay for content. Maybe that's due to the lack of actual content and/or the changing times of covering college sports...but the zoo is now the premium board. the free boards feel more...free.

No one should be getting annihilated anywhere. We don't control the decision, we didn't get to make the decision. I didn't agree with you. Much to my chagrin we're going to get to see if you're right. I truly hope you are even though no part of me believes it.

Aggie baseball is the one sport I still let get to me. I quit watching football almost a decade ago, basketball is a socialist Canadian plot to destroy the fabric of America, only baseball can cause me such pain.

But this is also the reason I never have, and never will give a single dime to the 12th Man Foundation. It's not a charitable cause, and it's not an organization that cares about any one of us. I will save my money for my preferred actual charities.

...and for booze to help me forget the poor decisions made by our athletic department and associated groups.

Yup. Hopefully when the Boomers die off things will get better but I'm afraid we are a cursed athletic department.

You should list posters who are sending you those DM's. Complete cowards for not posting directly on the board. I disagree with keeping Earley but nasty dm's are absurd. If you want to say something nasty, say it so everyone can see.

Sorry man, I have been quiet most of the year, well, almost all of it. Some by design and some by circumstance. This year has been an emotional roller coaster. Highest of highs and lowest of lows .... and everything in between. Result has sucked for sure, especially when compared to expectations.

But for folks to attack other posters because of an inane belief that supporting the team and players that were fielded somehow was the cause of poor results is beyond belief.

I have not supported sip athletics, and still they are successful.

I have not supported Kennesaw State and my withholding of support for them has not moved the needle on the "demand for excellence quota" one iota.

There's some folks need to take up a different hobby, maybe one that doesn't involve being a jack hole on the interweb. ( I am one of those) But I can't imagine a level where one would come on to an athletic program fan website and somehow imply that the fans who support the program unconditionally are the reason the program underachieves.
