If he was for sure coming back it would've leaked to the media by now. The AD is putting feelers out if I had to guess. If they like the feedback they get back they will make a move. If they don't, Earley will be back.

Exactly. I'm ok with burning it all down and starting over but timing is important too and this late in the game just seems like another panic. Next guy in needs to be the one that will get us back into Omaha asap. Trev's decision on this will ultimately tell how much he cares about the baseball program.

Yes, of course they were recruiting for A&M because it allowed them to call the recruits after the coaching change. They were really working for tu/themselves on our dime.

You really think our AD just now decided that Earley wasn't the guy moving forward and has now decided to throw feelers out? If that's the case then we really have problems. It should've been evident a month ago that we needed a change. Feelers should've been thrown out then. Anyone that we hire now will just be a hire that we won't be angry about but not anyone that we'll be screaming from the rooftops for.

Next season is basically a rebuild at this point. Laviolette, Hensler, Kent, Kash, Prager, Lamkin, Patton, Schott, Rudis and maybe Royo, Sdao and Stewart are all gone.

No, I imagine initial feelers were put out after we started 1-9, and really picked up after Mizzou.

You said we were definitively bringing him back, and complained about it. I replied saying that is most likely not the case, because if it was definitive you would've seen the AD leak their commitment to him to the media by now. Like SC and Mizzou did the day after their season ended.

We very well may bring Earley back, but they're more than likely strongly considering all options now.

I don't think Earley should be back. But I also don't think that any Aggie who thinks he should stay doesn't want to win. It's a difference of opinion. And it's ok to disagree on opinions.

I'm not complaining about bringing him back. I think it's the best decision to make in an already terrible situation. I don't think there is a quality option out there that we should pursue. Please, Lord, make me a fool on this.

I just want the next guy to be a solid hire and not a stop gap to get to the next guy and that's what worries me the most. This team deserves to be back at the top and not hoping to make a regional.

Trev should have nutted up last year and went after somebody with a few skins on the wall as a Head Coach. Don't tell me he couldn't have. In the long run hiring a solid Head Coach will have proved to be a lot cheaper, and we would be posting about what teams are to be assigned to the College Station regional.

That's fair, but I think we all just lived through the stop gap. I would also disagree this is a terrible situation. We have the perfect opportunity to hit the reset button now with significantly better timing than last year.

Whoever was hired was going to be so far behind on roster construction that the best hire was promoting from within and not having to construct a new roster. We would have been gutted with a new coach and very little opportunity to get any kind of quality replacements. No new coach from a successful program was going to take that deal. He's coming back regardless if we like it or not. Trev is not going to pay another buyout at this point. He's 100% focused on keeping money for football. No matter how you look at it, the Earley hire was a panic decision that was forced by the players and POS putting us in that position. Unfortunately, we just have to ride it out one more year and start the coaching search early in the season. I'd like to think things can't get much worse next season. At least we won't have the preseason #1 tag to deal with.
