No, it's obviously not the same, Arkansas is a much better job. But if it's really a situation where both sides are over it and he's thinking about getting out where the timing could work.

That said, if that were really the case I think we'd have already heard about it, you'd think he'd have been a candidate at Indiana or Maryland.

Baseball, I think he was already there before Trev?

Pat Kelsey if you can afford the buyout. His yearly salary is low but signed for the next 4 season, I believe.

That's one problem we have at A&M that no one wants to talk about. The booster pressure to hire specific people is intense. Basketball boosters are undoubtedly in his ear about who he needs to hire and if it doesn't work out he will get blamed and those same boosters will pressure the next hire, too.

We offered Vitello big $$ and reached out to Vaughn at the time. After that when Trev moved on to round 2, the donor commitment to NIL push to keep the roster intact made sense to go with Earley and see if it worked out. No issues at all with that process.

Again, the issue will be if we don't immediately move on this year.

Huggy Bear has baggage, but is a great coach and would be a fun hire.
Boynton got a raw deal with NCAA sanctions & penalties at Okie State. He's a great coach (currently an assistant at Michigan, I think) & a great guy. He would show up unannounced for Freshman move in day at the dorms to volunteer for check in or help haul stuff up stairs. Everyone loved him but he wasn't able to dig them out of the NCAA mess.

Really curious what would make you more willing to take a shot on Bryce Drew over Lutz?

And not sure I agree Hoiberg would be fun at all. Dude has not found that same magic he had ten years ago, but I also recognize Nebraska is a very hard job.

Did someone dare you to come up with two of the worst suggestions you could think of and post them?

Boynton was handed a mess at OSU, but he didn't really do anything to make you believe he's a good head basketball coach while there.

I'm really down about this.

I think we should be more frustrated by the fact that we have allowed ourselves to be a stepping stone instead of a destination.

What is it about Lutz' 17-18 record at Okie State this past year that makes him such a desirable candidate to y'all?

Drew has recruited top flight talent in the SEC...sure it looks a little different now, but I guess I'm hopeful that his time at Vandy was just a run of bad luck with injuries, inexperienced coaching. I'd give him another shot.

I guess I'm curious Hoiberg would at least recruit shooters, something A&M hasn't had in over a decade in seems.

Yeah, I'm not seeing it. But, it would be an "A&M" level hire.

Being a stepping stone is irrelevant. Hiring a coach who claimed "Texas A&M is my dream job" was probably the biggest mistake and miss of Bill Byrne's career, for instance. Many schools manage to win with many coaches despite being stepping stones.

Okie State was 7-13 in conference and got bounced after one game in the NIT. Why would we want Lutz?

He won at perennial doormat A&M CC, and then went on to win at Western Kentucky. Don't know why things went south at Okie Lite

Oklahoma State sucks. "Went South" isnt really accurate considering he's only been there one year and they actually did better than the year before he was hired.

It was just his first season at OSU…and they won 2 NIT games before getting bounced. Lutz can't be judged on his brief OSU tenure, but what he did prior to that.

Surprised nobody's brought up Rick Stansbury yet.
The way some of yall talked about his role as an assistant under Kennedy, you'd have thought he was Coach K in waiting
