….some of you are thinking way too big. Remind me why some think we are a basketball school. Look at the way Buzz, Turgeon felt. Jones, Barone could be the reemergence of Shelby and Billy type spirit to become a basketball school.

The question is whether the Beard run was just because people wanted to spite Texas or whether because Trev actualy thinks it's a good idea to really invest in basketball. Because if it's the latter, then for what it was going to take to get Beard there should be quite a few interesting options out there.

Bummed - but glad to see the AD and big money willing to go for an established coach who has a track record of winning after going the unproven route for baseball and football.

Now let's hope plan B brings us some good options.

Chris Jans. I would call TJ O at ISU, but don't think he is leaving either.

I wonder if some people are seeing the reports of A&M making a hard run at Beard and saying, hmmm I would be interested in that kind of money and NIL and reaching out to A&M to express interest.

Yep. Paying Murray a 1/3 of what we offered Beard and giving the rest to get players seems like a great plan

Nobody cares about the traditions, there are plenty of other schools with "strange" traditions - calling the Hogs anyone?

Lack of support for basketball may be a valid critique. And like it or not, having to deal with operating in the shadow of Texas now that they are in the SEC with us, is a headwind a lot of coaches probably don't want to have to fight against.

Again though, the X's and O's are the easy part of this deal. There are lots of great X's and O's coaches.

We need someone who can build a coaching staff and a roster that can compete in the SEC.

Other schools have traditions, but ours are just flat out moronic. Nobody over the age of 30 wants to "Hump it"...or have some idiot in overalls scream "remove cover" cause you forget to take your cap off during a football game.

X is a joke. They like to say we got so and so and then say oops. He's not coming after all. Don't believe anything you read there. We just need to make a panic hire. There are plenty of decent (maybe not great) coaches we can hire without over paying someone.

Yes, they do. People just have a lack of imagination.

What doesn't work is using yell leaders to try and create a poor man's version of Kyle Field inside Reed Arena. What could work is coming up with some new ideas to try. Having people that the student body is already used to looking to to just signal in directions is actually hugely helpful if you're trying to create an environment.
