That's if he got fired and what the school would owe him. His buyout is $3.5M from what I understand. We got $1M for Buzz unless we waived it as a gift. lol.

Get a younger winner from a lesser program or lower Division program! Above are 3 examples of guys
that have done great moving up to bigger programs!

I can't believe many Maryland fans wanted Chris Collins, of northwestern. Horrible records outside two 12-8 round 2 exits. Assuming that's the guy they meant.

He has improved the team he's coached every single year over the prior season's results. Two tournament appearances at TAMU-CC, tournament appearance at WKU and then improved OSU in year one from where they were before he arrived. He's still very early in his coaching career, but has put together a pretty impressive track record to go along with having worked under both Greg McDermott and Matt Painter.

He should not be our top guy, but he would be far from the worst hire we could make.

Probably because they want him as the head coach of Maryland and not the head coach of Northwestern, a school that had never even appeared in an NCAA Tournament before he got there.

We've hit on it before, but that is the real issue with the timing of all of this. Hodge, Pitino, Hodgson and others have all already taken new gigs at this point.

I mean, maybe partially mitigated by Northwestern being the only Power 5 job worse than Nebraska.

Steve Lutz would be 3 jobs in 3 years which is kinda weird.

He was just flat out bad at Vandy though. They got significantly worse each and every year he was there. His team's at GCU outside of '24 have also basically all been the exact same and they're far far ahead of their WAC competition from an NIL standpoint. I don't think he's done anything to prove he's a very good coach or done much to earn another shot at this level. I'd be really disappointed if he is the hire.

I see the positives of a lot of these options but I am not a fan of Bryce Drew

Yeah I literally posted on the other thread some guys that we might call and see if the ink is dry, but my guess is most of them have already signed something.

I could be talked into it, but he wouldn't be my first choice. I could see it working though.

Maybe we should ask the players with eligibility left who they'd like hired. What could possibly go wrong?

I'm not one to make excuses for coaches, but he recruited two first round picks to Vandy...and then injuries happened, they lost games, and it just snowballed...especially the 9-23 year...but a ton of the 0-18 league games were a couple of possessions, including a 5pt loss to #1 Tennessee. Again, I just chalk it up to being very unlucky.

I think you're underselling what he's done at GCU...4 tournaments in 5 years is nothing to balk at, he's more established than Golden was when Florida hired him.

He was really good at Xavier and seemed to have Louisville headed down that same path until that assistant coach scandal that appeared to sidetrack his career. Seems like he's back in the game and he can obviously coach.

It might be something to balk at if GCU is spending way more than their counterparts. I have no idea.

But I mean come on, they were worse every year at Vandy.
