Post WS we had the #7 farm system. Langford and Carter were top 10 guys. Jung was an all star. Seager and Semien had just finished 2-3 in MVP. Expecting a decent window was very reasonable.
With today’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster, along with three players on the 60-day Injured List (RHP Carter Baumler and LHP’s Cody Bradford and Jordan Montgomery).

Josh Jung (shoulder soreness) is not in the lineup. Ezequiel Duran slides over to third and Michael Helman starts at shortstop. https://t.co/kwNyAlG28u

Wyatt Langford and Corey Seager are trending in opposite directions with their respective recoveries. https://t.co/e7BCTvfZ9A

Rangers had a chance to turn a double play and send it to extras... instead the Angels walk it off on Sunday Night Baseball to complete the sweep! pic.twitter.com/RvWcTjeimO

We were somewhat lucky to get it 23, but that's how baseball go. 2011 team was best team in the league and we saw how that worked out.

Carter situation was a forced hand. After being a key part of our World Series run in 2023, he was all but guaranteed to be a starter in 2024.
2024 he showed there was a decent chance he was just a small sample size success. He rightfully started 2025 in AAA, but got called up when he was "healthy" to try and give that 2025 team a spark.
I think the reality with Evan Carter is that he's not a bonafide MLB player and we got a small sample size lightning in a bottle with him during our WS run when a lot of teams didn't have the book on him yet.
He had a 0.470ish slugging in his only two full seasons in the minors (high A and AA)... Then got called up in 2023 and put up a .645 slugging in the big leagues.
Small sample size noise.
