Ayo Dosunmu would have been a really nice MLE target this offseason but safe to say he's flown past that range this series.

Rockets needed a PG and Minn only paid a few 2nds for him. I'm shocked they didn't make that move. Would have added some playmaking and shooting they needed. Dumbass front office.

Not sure which front office move is worse, Rockets not trading for him or Bulls only getting 2 seconds for him…

If yall missed it, Wolves scored a basket with 1s left and a huge lead and Jokic started a fight, with both benches clearing.

Wolves up 3-1, but DDV blew out his achilles and Ant Edwards hyperextended his knee. And everyone on both teams should be suspended.

I think Coby White would be a great addition to this team.

Also, I love the chippy animosity the playoffs bring in basketball and hockey. There's almost nothing like it. "I hate you, you hate me, and I'll see you again in two nights to do it again"

The league continues to show it is completely out of touch…

Anyone else think simply going to a true worst gets the first pick in the draft and so on would fix a lot of tanking?

Nope. It would make tanking this year even uglier.

This year sure, but most others years I don't think teams would care much.

I'm with you. This thing is so ****ed now. Congrats to the first 47 win team in the west to get the #1 pick. This is going to create a permanent class system of haves and have nots.

We would have seen the same for Flagg/Harper.

Most teams would have ignored the Risacher draft.

Wemby draft would have been insane tanking.

Paolo/Chet/Jabari was considered fairly strong.

More often than not, teams would really tank hard because one player makes a bigger difference in the NBA than any other league. No lottery would make it worse.

The Mavs are a perfect example. They get Cooper Flagg last year, this year don't except to be great, but because there's no way they're a top 4 worst team they probably invest into cooper in different ways throughout the year than simply just F it and be awful the last 2 1/2 months.
Guitarsoup

That's how most tanking is done. Most teams play normally the first couple months and try to get some wins under the belt and something positive for the young players.

Then they have their starting center have surgery for a deviated septum that happened 5 years ago like Utah.

Anyone who wasn't appalled by the tanking this year isn't really a fan of the NBA.

Wizards paid Trae and AD 100 million (prorated) to sit so they could lose.

Jazz paid JJJ and Lauri 80 million to not play

Ja stopped playing

Bucks shut Giannis down against his will

Kings shut down Lavine and Sabonis super early

Tyrese Haliburton and Kyrie didn't consider coming back this year so their team could lose

The NBA is a star driven league and these lottery teams have stars but they still sat them to tank. Most of these teams should have been at worst 35-40 win teams if they tried to win. What the NBA really wants is for all of the above guys to PLAY. Any fan should also want to see that for the health of the game.

Hali is the only one who might've had a legit reason for sitting. Apparently he's had a pretty severe case of shingles

True, but even before the shingles the Pacers were set on him sitting and them tanking. His achilles tear was later than Tatum's in the playoffs, so not sure he could have legitimately returned, but it wasn't even a consideration which is more of what concerns me. What kind of dumb system incentivizes teams to sit guys they pay 50 million dollars to.

The Wizards should be punished by the league. They clearly lied for nearly a month about injuries to two star players just to tank.

The Jazz did that with 4 players helping them win games.

Can the league not just police tanking through independent investigation?

For instance, if Utah is winning a game in the 3rd quarter and then sits its players to lose in the 4th we all know what that means. No one is stupid. So investigate it, then instead of fining them $$$, dock them a 10% deduction in lottery odds.

Same for if it is found that healthy players are sitting for extended periods. Dock them X% of lottery odds. I don't think anyone is being that clever here.

I feel like there's a great way to de-couple your record from your draft position while also giving the worst teams the best chance at top talent.

Have the team that wins the lottery choose whose draft pick to own in the following years draft. It's a lottery to place bets on who you think will suck the most rather than a lottery to directly win draft position. Make it so that you can't select the team who chose you to prevent mutual covert tanking. And then the actual draft positioning goes by straight record.

The worst teams still have the best chance at getting the best pick bc they'll be picking the worst rosters, and everyone loses all incentive to lose their own games.

Just saw this::

Cooper Flagg is the first player in the history of basketball to win National HS Player of the Year*, NCAA Player of the Year*, and NBA Rookie of the Year.

And what makes it most impressive of all is that he was a year advanced for all three, after reclassifying and skipping his junior year.

When he won HS player of the year, he should've been a junior. When he won NCAA Player of the Year he should've been a HS senior. When he won NBA Rookie of the Year, he should've been a college freshman.

Just insane.

Shoutout to Mavs play-by-play man Mark Followill who found this nugget.
I wanna see our defense pissed off, not confused, maybe a little murder in their hearts Reload12, 11/4/11

Kareem, Ewing, Larry Johnson and maybe others won all three.

Maybe they meant all three in consecutive years? Eliminates a lot of players because there used to be skipping college (LeBron won two) or it was unheard of (illegal?) for freshman to declare.
