Watching Texas Tech vs Iowa State because there are a couple guys in this game the Mavs could be interested in at 30 in Christian Anderson and Joshua Jefferson. Anderson is so good, he'll probably be gone in the early 20s.

I mentioned Jefferson on here a few weeks ago because some of the advanced metrics have him as one of the most impactful players in the country. He'll fall to late in the first because he doesn't appear to be super athletic, he's a senior, and his 3 point shot isn't there yet. Having his best shooting season this year at 35%, but only 31% in conference play. His FT% is fine, but not awesome, so projecting his shot isn't great. To me it looks like a set shot with not a lot of body movement, so I think there's room for improvement. Because he does so much for them, he's taking a lot of 3s from above the break.

He reminds me of PJ Washington, but appears to have a better handle, more decisiveness, and much better passing. He brings the ball up a lot and they run a lot of offense through him in the post. He's really skilled and has a good reading of the game. Earlier in this game, he blocked a three pointer and took the ball to the rim himself where he was fouled. He fills up the box sheet and it just really seems like he's a guy that can have a role on a good team.

Fun guy to keep an eye on during March as a possible Mavs draft pick.

First 22 games (through Feb 1st) Jefferson shot 41% from three (on three attempts per game.) For some reason since then he is at 24% (10 games). And 39% from the field. He doesn't have the athleticism of PJ Washington. But maybe could be a bench hub of a PF. Great passer, really smart guy. I think he is a solid bench rotation guy in the league. Maybe Julius Randle is the comp?

Randle is a decent shout, though probably not as good of a scorer. Jefferson is also more of an offensive hub and better playmaker, whereas Randle is more an iso scorer (or at least was at this point in his development).

A funny comp I was thinking is a poor man's Cam Boozer. You get everything Boozer does, but at a solid level rather than an elite level.

ETA: Jefferson just made an incredible pass diagonally from the half court line to the opposite corner for a 3. He has such an incredible feel for the game and then ability to make the pass.

Randle actually leads Minn in assists this year. I hate watching him, but he is a decent little hub. He peaked at 6apg with the Knicks when he was All-NBA 2nd team.

I can see the poor man's Boozer connection, too.

If you watched Randle at all last night against the Kawhis, calling Jefferson a Randle-type player is horribly mean.

Lol. Either way, we're talking about a player who is going to be picked at the end of the first round, so you're getting a guy with flaws. You'd take a Julius Randle type of career from a player you are picking 30th lol.

Basically he's Davis Bertans-y where you could have one of the best shooters in the league but doesn't really do anything else well.

For the Spurs, I see him in Lindy Water's role as basically an end of the bench guy. You need to generate some offense, you bring him in and feed him some open shots real quick. Just pure heat check guy that you hope isn't a rotation player. Like Kerr in G6 of the 03 WCF.

Yeah he's a luxury player for sure. You basically have to have a team like the Spurs or maybe Boston where you can have 4 athletic players who can handle the ball and play defense on the court with him.

He can't elevate a bad team but he can elevate a team that's already been well-constructed.

If y'all get Fleming, who is legit two way, I think you can put a guy like Milan out there with Christie, Flagg, KF, and Lively. Milan is 6'8 225, so he's big enough to hide on a bad PF.

You just need the defense around him to not expose him too bad for the 15mpg you play him.

I'm seeing conflicting things on the Mavs having a second round pick. Tankathon seems to think they do, but I don't see it that way on RealGM or Fanspo.

Great, another reason to want the Suns to lose.

Lol would be nice, but they have Ajay back now, and they'll probably get Hartenstein J Will back before the Spurs can catch them.

No more head to heads (Spurs won that 4-1) but Spurs have the 24th hardest schedule the rest of the way and OKC has the 4th hardest schedule. OKC is still playing great, though.
