I think you are just looking at what the Mavs now have, whereas the tweets are showing how big of a dumbass Nico is.

It's probably fair to say that I gave a tweet about the NBA more intellectual scrutiny than it deserved.

What does it miss? Even with Flagg this is still a bad team when Nico was counting on a 2-3 year window to win a title - with the first of those being last year's disaster followed by this one where they clearly thought this ill constructed team (even with Flagg) with a bunch of defensive forwards, a key piece that has never been able to stay healthy, and no on-ball guys had a real chance to compete.

What pisses me off is that the deal that the Pelicans got for Chris. Paul ended up being worse than the one they rejected.

Looks like the Bulls are fully committing to the tank as Charlotte will inevitably catch them. Bulls are still 4.5 games better than the Mavs in the standings.

Over the past couple of days, the Bucks have won twice and the Grizzlies beat Sacramento last night. Mavs are now 7th and 1.5 games ahead of the Bucks and Grizzlies in the tankathon. Probably have no chance at 6th best odds, so 7th would be most likely best case scenario.

Mavs are going to have some tough conversations down the stretch here. This team and group of players absolutely will not and does not want to tank. Led by Coop they are going to scratch, claw and fight every time they step on the court, but fact of the matter is that this team desperately needs to end up in the top 8 lottery odds. I HATE to do it, but they may have to sit Coop a bit down the stretch. Going to be a crazy crazy end of the year.

For sure, and don't want to do anything to get injured and ruin next season. That means resting at least one game of B2Bs. It means taking a game off on a road trip. It means playing 28-30 minutes in some games instead of 34-36. If Gafford isn't traded, he needs to be resting for next season, because he clearly isn't right anyways. You have to think the guys understand this on some level.

Luckily, Mavs still have the 6th hardest remaining SOS. Mavs have 8 games left against tankers. Bulls have 9. Milwaukee has 10. Utah has 11 games left against really putrid teams, so maybe there is some hope there.

It's a good and deep draft, but bro....the dude has showed flashes of face of the league type player, and he's still just figuring it out on the fly. Sorry, but given what Flagg has showed already, any GM would take him today knowing what we know over the unknowns of Boozer, Dybantza and Peterson.

Yeah in a weird way us having one of the hardest remaining schedules is a great thing. Playoff teams will want to really put their foot on the gas and begin rounding into form, and we'll want to do everything possible to lose games. So weird to say.

Castle has a negative net rating on one of the best teams in the league. Coop is already better than both Thompson twins and it's not even close for Ausar (they are also 4 years older than him). Jalen Williams wasn't the same player this year when he was playing. Nobody would take Sengun or Duren over Coop. Other than that, Coop is in the discussion with Wemby, Ant, and Cade. And he just turned 19. It's basically a self-defeating argument lol.

Boozer is a different commodity, but as far as AJ and Peterson....they've shown a few too many times that they don't have close to the ball IQ that coop has. The only player in the upcoming draft that there would probably be a debate about would be Darryn Peterson because of just how naturally gifted he is scoring and with the ball in his hands. But even then there's some serious question marks right now about his give a ****, and we all know Coop has that in spades.

Dybantsa is a close second imo, but I am not sure he's on the same level as Coop as a defender. I think Coop was, is and will be an all NBA defense guy in his career.

Zubac just went to the Pacers. Looks like Gafford isn't going to be moving. Not the worst thing ever. Just sit him the rest of the year and get him right. He'll have a big role going forward as the backup to Lively and starter whenever Lively is hurt.

Gave up Malaki Branham, who was salary matching in the AD trade. Spurs drafted him 4 years ago and he is awful.

Tyus Jones played pretty good for Phoenix last year. 7M ending contract. Branham was also on an ending contract, so actually make the luxury tax worse.

I think J Kidd actually likes Tyus Jones and he is going to play a lot for the Mavs this season. Which is a bummer because he is a floor raiser. Would rather just watch AJ Johnson try to learn to dribble.

It's possible. I mean this team needs PG help, especially if they do the unthinkable and trade Kyrie in the offseason. I know we like Nembhard, but he's a 5'11" undrafted PG that is beyond a liability on defense in the half court. He's likely a backup bench guy at best.

I know Tyus Jones is a lot of that as well, but he's at least experienced.

Jones' contract is up after this season. No way the Mavs should be re-signing him with how he is shooting it this year.

Yeah the only reason I can come up with is to take some of the load off of Coop needing to do absolutely everything for this team offensively. That's about it.

Best case scenario from this trade is that he feels comfortable with the team and signs for a league minimum deal for next year.
