I paid the $125 thru fifa for general parking. It made things super easy and convenient just parking in the blue lot at "Houston Stadium".

I also arrived about 2.5 hours before the match to make sure i could get the most booze and food out of my hospitality package though

so starting tomorrow we have 6 games a day.
God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

yes, but both games in each group on the third match day are at exactly the same time to help prevent match fixing. So three match times each day and you have to pick one of two matches at each time, flip between them, enable a split screen, or be at a bar where both Fox and FS1 are on. Recommend that last option all day each day for the next week.

TV showing a match, laptop showing the other match.

Or..... three screen home office setup (like I have). One for each game and one for "work". I'm busy honey. Sorry.

You guys are all wrong. Bar is the best option.

I don't have a home office.

The wife took it for her own office.

I'm back....we went out of town for a Father's day trip....but I watched a ton of games but didn't have any internet access....

Friday
Scotland actually held their own against Morocco - outside the second minute....frustrating

USA looked amazing

Sunday
I was posted up here for like 7 hours....4 feet from the TV and 7 feet from the bar

Japan looked great

Belgium looked terrible, but that DeBruyn play on the endline to bring the ball down was slick

Spain looked way better.....Mikel Oyarzabal had a brace but his cross to Yamal on the opening goal was even more impressive

Monday
Messi is incredible.....the buildup to that extra time goal was nuts

75% of the WC teams are represented by three apparel brands: 14 for adidas, 12 for nike, 11 for puma. The remaining 11 teams are split across 10 apparel brands. We got to see the one Umbro team (DR Congo) and the one Reebok team (Panama) on Tuesday.

So after 2 rounds the USA possibilities for first round opponent are 3rd place from B/E/F/I/J depending on which ones qualify.

Currently

B - Bosnia is not qualified and has 1 pt and -3 GD
E - Ecuador is not qualified with 1 pt and -1 GD
F - Sweden with 3 pts and a 0 GD
I - Senegal is not qualified with 0 pts and -3 GD
J - Algeria with 3 points and. -2 GD

Of those currently Algeria would be our opponent based on the 495 combinations of 12 groups and 8 qualifiers.

Possibilities:

TODAY
---------------------------------
B - Bosnia(64) plays Qatar(56) and if one of them wins they jump to 4 points and a likely 3rd place qualifier. And in 99% of the possibilities we would get the B 3rd place team. But if they tie they are probably staying on the outside looking in with both having 2 pts and -3 or -4 GD. These would by far be the worst teams we could play based on ranking so we should probably hope for one of them to win.

So this could be decided today more or less. There is only one case where B qualifies and we do not play them and that is if A C D and F do not qualify and currently all 4 are qualified.

TOMORROW
---------------------------------
E - Ecuador (23) plays Germany so things do not look promising for them to move into the qualified group unless Germany tanks the game since they have the group wrapped up.

F - Sweden(38) plays Japan(18) and the loser or Sweden if they tie is the third place team with Netherlands playing Tunisia who is out no matter what.

FRIDAY
--------------------------------
I - Senegal(15) plays Iraq(57) and could jump into a qualified position with a win. A tie leaves them both out.

SATURDAY
--------------------------------
J - Algeria(28) plays Austria(24) and the loser or Algeria if they are tied would be our next most likely opponent.

FWIW, The Athletic's projections say:

58% B&H
18% Qatar
8% Senegal
5% Algeria
3% Ecuador
3% Austria

And 8 others with 1% or less.

Round 3 starts today.

Round 2 saw a 9 goal drop off from Round 1

avg goal/match rate down from 3.13 to 2.94

Messi still leads the Golden Boot race with 5 goals. Haaland and Mbappe are on 4.

There were 5 red cards in the 2 round of games

Teams will most likely need at least 3 points to advance. A team getting through with just 2 points is less than 5% at this time. 4 points is basically a guarantee.

Since the bubble is gonna be around 3 points, goal differential will be the 1st tie breaker between teams, followed by goals scored. Positive goal differential is going to drastically increase the possibility of advancing. -2 or worse is gonna be really sketchy.

So a team like Scotland, really needs to not get their ass kicked by Brazil if they want to advance.

Parked at the Old Spanish Trail lot. 15 minute walk to the stadium. But lots of places near the stadium had $40 parking... Dont get sucked into standing in line for the FIFA store in the fan zone. There are multiple FIFA stores inside the stadium.

I asked this question on the thread Randy linked- has anyone bought a ticket to the hospitality tent at Fan Fest? Mrs. Marvin is not much for the sun/heat, so curious if it's worth doing. I'd like to enjoy the afternoon there before heading to the stadium.

South Beach was pretty interesting last night. Basically kilts, bagpipers, and booze everywhere. Even the Palace Bar (well known LGBTQ bar) was full of Scotsman singing Proclaimers songs.

Two guys in kilts were about to get into a fist fight in the street (one shirtless) when a third intervened. He handed each of them a beer, told them to behave because we were guests in Miami, and sent them off in different directions. Problem solved.

Last night there was a bagpiper playing No Scotland, No Party, while standing on the roof of a bar, with smoke cannons going off around him.

A guy just gave me a beer because I was singing along with him. It was a great time.

Does Paxten and Brendan's dad still play? We can comfortably field at least 2 Aaronsons.

leaving "Dallas Stadium" after the England/Croatia match last week, I was walking next to a group of brits straight harrassing a Croat couple in front of them...probably the only Croat fans within 50 yards. They were doing the "you're ****, but your birds are fit" chant....in broad daylight, with kids and families all around, just getting louder and closer to the couple with every step to the point of almost yelling it in their ears. I get it -- it's why we love English soccer culture, but it was unwarranted in the moment, especially after thrashing the Croatians and it being broad daylight. I told the most sober one to check his lads and thankfully he did.

I don't mind it when it's warranted, especially in a PL derby match, etc., but a WC midday game was not it.

ah and I forgot during that england/croatia match....some england fan had a giant "Make America Great Britain" flag hung over one of the rails. I personally hope we can avoid our country becoming a safe haven for violent immigrant rape gangs as long as possible.

PSA - Fox One will supposedly have a Multiview that lets you watch both at the same time.

And supposedly they still have a free trial, but honestly, I've found the subscription to be more than worth it for the convenience of quick access to the games from any device. I'll promptly cancel next month.
