This part is crazy. No idea what happens here.

I mean I think Ghana and England both play for a win because they are still playing to win their group. So Ghana beats Croatia and England beats Panama.

But I think DR Congo beats Uzbekistan easily.

And Argentina is not losing to Jordan under any circumstances.

So it comes down to Austria/Algeria. The winner would get Spain. The loser would be out (if it is Algeria) or precarious (Austria could lose by 1 and make it). I think Austria plays to win because facing Spain is not as daunting as it once seemed and the alternative is Belgium/England/Switzerland which is not much better. But Austria could park the bus and try for the tie or narrow 1 point loss.

England, Brazil, Norway, and Colombia would be the next tier.

The best game to watch upcoming will be Japan vs Brazil. Two very contrasting styles that could lead to fireworks and an extremely fast-paced game.

I mean seems inevitable 16 Euro teams qualified and so far 11 have advanced to knockout stage.

You wanna win at WC you gotta beats Euros and Brazil/Argentina at some point.

Thats assuming Belgium advances. They looked good last night but that was against the one of the lowest ranked teams in the tournament.

They're probably playing Senegal at this point and Senegal is also looking good now

True but that game against Belgium earlier in the year was brutal. Then again this U.S. team is playing like a completely different team than what we saw earlier in the year. I think we can beat Belgium but I would have preferred Egypt lol.

1. I really don't know. I do not think either France or Argentina we tested in the group phase. Senegal did not look good against France or Norway. So not sure if that was a real test for France. Norway did not try against France but still could have easily scored 2 or 3 goals if they played their first choice squad. I do feel France is above everyone else and would be hard to stop scoring.

2. I agree with Yokels list.

Epic 2nd half by DR Congo to win 3-1 and DR Congo is now the top 3rd place qualifier. Wow from not in the top 8 to #1.



Fan of SK (I lived there and followed Son with Tottenham) but they did not deserve to go through. Played very passive.

Down to Iran and Algeria/Austria.


If Algeria win they are in and Iran is in.
If Austria win they are in and Iran is in.
If they tie both are in (Austria gets runner-up and Algeria gets the last 3rd place spot) and Iran is out.




Also winner gets Spain (or Austria gets Spain if it is tied).
Iran or Algeria in the case of a tie get Switzerland.

I hate FIFA with the fire of a thousand suns, and of course it was a total money grab.
But hard to argue the new 48 team format hasn't been spectacularly successful. The additional teams give it a March madness feel with the upsets, the extra teams making the nock out round mean history and something to play for for more teams, and more games means more revenue, eyeballs, and general interest.
They will, of course screw it up and go to 64, but maybe that works out too.

Iran decision was 100% correct. It's the second to last defender not the last non goalie that determines offside and the goalie had moved out and was the 3rd to last defender when the pass was made. So the guy who scored the goal was past the second to last defender with only one defender (who was not the goalie) between him and the goal..

As for Columbia seemed really close and I have not seen the angle with the lines drawn.
