I ended up selling my Ecuador v Curacao tickets for saturday. My father in-law passed away unexpectedly yesterday so I'm driving back to TX to handle arrangements.

On the upside I was able to get my money back even after all of FIFA's fees (actually made $45). I listed them for $250 a ticket and they sold in 40 minutes.

No one, and I mean no one, is enjoying this World Cup more than Jameis Winston!

Is Jameis Winston some kind of huge soccer fan for some reason? I don't like the guy, but if he's a big fan of the game it's cool, I guess.

Anybody know if there's a story there? Otherwise seems like very random talent placement.

I was just thinking about this

We're all loving the Tartan Army invasion of Boston stuff, but how awesome will the videos be of the Tartan Army invading South Beach.....talk about a clash of culture

I will never forget our trip there in 2007 for the Ags vs Canes at the Orange Bowl. A bunch of older Ags in Fishing shirts and wranglers carrying their boots in hand, walking the white sands of South Beach with their conservatively dressed wives trying to pretend not to notice all of the string bikinis and toplessness .

This will be up there with that.

The Scots may be lacking in football talent, but no one can compete with them in sheer alcoholism.

No one east of Wisconsin, at any rate.

One of the top rated Irish bars, Hennessey's of Boston came out and said that Saturday's sales were equal to 3 times St. Patrick's day last year.

That is absolutely bonkers.

I was worried that with the expanded field a lot of these early matches would just be awful. With the exception of a few blowouts, I have been pleasantly surprised. The matches have been excellent and some of the favorites have been humbled.

I've also really enjoyed seeing the fan interactions. With the Iranian fans, the one on one interactions with US fans and others have been overwhelmingly positive. It's been really cool to see people put differences aside and come together over the love of the sport.

The simple fact is it's governments and their actions that people take issue with. And just like here large parts of the country disagree with them (no matter who's in charge).

People are pretty much just people no matter where you go.

I don't know, they've done the drink the bars dry thing as well. The first time Wisconsin made the Rose Bowl with Barry Alvarez, they drank all of the brandy in the city of Los Angeles.

Has there ever been more matches that ended in a draw. Spain and Portugal tying their first matches - a shocker.

Also, Norway's maiden voyage into the World Cup this Century shocked some people....

Some of the draws have actually been the most exciting matches. It's been fantastic.

I agree. Any detractors who b**ch and moan about having draws is an idiot. I'm really liking this expanded format as well. Lots of new programs getting a chance on the global stage like this.

Except for Portugal vs Congo. What a dud. Went to the match hoping to watch Ronaldo play but he wasn't even in the line-up. So disappointed.

I see what you did there! Shame he couldn't make it; it did seem weird Portugal was playing with 10 men the entire game.

Houstonians, my bro and I want to go be around a bunch of Swedes and Dutch and catch some World Cup vibes Saturday afternoon after their matchup. Since it's at NRG, im guessing the most likely to be happenin spot would be downtown?

That's incorrect now. Petar Musa (FC Dallas) scored one for Croatia today.
