That was abysmal.
That was a collection of all the bad things pre-Amorim and with Amorim. Had a lot of the same chaos pre-Amorim as a result of not understanding when to push and when to settle. The high shot volume but low % on target and even lower % that were big chances...which was a hallmark of the Amorim era. And basic defending errors which were prevalent in both.
So now in order to save their season, either 1) an interim manager who has been on the job for less than a week and hasn't won a game yet, has one week to make sure his team gets at least 4 points against the two best teams in the league or 2) a new interim manager will have less than a week to do the same.
Can make a very strong argument that United had to fire Amorim after he said he wanted to leave and after his blow-up in the Leeds post-game. But I still maintain that him leaving put United at greater risk this season, not less. Neither of those two options above fill me with optimism.

Honestly it's embarrassing how far this club has fallen. But I expect nothing less from this ownership group. I don't think it will ever change until they are gone.
BTW, Laurie Whitwell with the trivia answer: lowest number of games since 1914-1915 (not counting years where things like World Wars got in the way).

Where is Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s regime going? While Glazers majority owners. Big questions for club’s football leaders.
I said from day 1 Jim didn't have enough money to run this club. That's been proven true. Now we can add football incompetence to the list.
I just can't get past the total lack of emotion and "I care" out of the squad the last 2 matches. I called them flat earlier. But that's is being kind. They just looked like they were going through the motions today.

Well the board fired their manager and told them not only are we going with an interim these next games. We are then going to change to an interim for the rest of the season.
If they wanted an Ole or Carrick interim for the rest of the season, then they should have done it straight away. What's going on right now is nonsense.
Yeah, we can sit here and say that the players should care but they are human. And in the span of a week the went from 6th place and within touching distance of 4th, getting AFCON players back and in a system that, for all its faults, was at least (finally) somewhat familiar after 14 months...to a season of new formations, two lame duck managers, and a ton of uncertainty. And it's what...the 3rd or 4th time this has happened for many of these players?
This rests solely on Ratcliffe and Co. They virtually ensured that this season is effed and they'll have to start all over again in the summer. New players, new managers, new tactics. What a joke.

Well they better get it together. A second straight season without any European games will be a financial disaster.

I suspect the only entity capable of buying them out, assuming the accumulated debt and still having enough money free to make it work would be a sovereign/sports washing one. And the Glazers had their chance at that already and turned it down.

Well, Rio moved to Dubai, maybe he's working on getting us a nice sports washing bid. (I kid, but only mostly; not exactly clear why he went to Dubai, but I doubt it was just to get more sun, although very very likely not related to United).
Looks like Carrick may be the next sucker to try.

Nothing sounds like success more than "sacked manager at Middlesbrough".
Although to be fair nothing else has worked. We have tried big names. We have tried guys with international success. We have tried up and comers. We have tried tired old retreads. We have tried well liked former players. We haven't tried "well liked former player who was sacked by Middlesbrough" although that's preferable to "crotchety former player sacked by Derby County, Plymouth Argyle and Birmingham City".
This is one great big massive **** show.
The most incredibly annoying thing is that this was so predictable. There were 2 obvious scenarios that were the most likely paths for the Amorim hire to work. And it was obvious that not committing to or deviating from that path would be a trainwreck in the future. I'm far from the only one who said it so this isn't a boast...it's more of an indication of just how obvious it was if I along with thousands of others said this on Day 1 of hiring Amorim. Just basic common sense would have saved us from what will likely be at least 3 seasons of poor performances and perpetual rebuilding.
Carrick is all but confirmed. But you know these dweebs need one more meeting before they decide. It's an interim. Get the **** on with it.
