Donnarumma is a 10 year veteran who was good enough to start at 16 for one of the biggest clubs in Italy, has won multiple league titles, Champions League and has 76 caps for Italy at the age of 26. Lammens has played one season in the Belgian league at the age of 23.

Not sure I would expect him to be able to walk into the starting GK role at the most difficult club to succeed at. De Gea barely survived it when he came up and the set up at United back then was 100x better than what it is now.

I don't disagree per se and I'm not advocating for it but...

You know City will want to have the ball a lot and United want to strategically press and create quick counters. I could see a world where Amorim says Ugarte is better suited for that over 90 minutes.

But yeah, personally if I was City and I saw Ugarte on the starting 11, I would target the hell out of him any time United had the ball.

I would go at Ugarte if for no other reason than he is a foul magnet. He will be on a card quickly if you go at him.

Probably mostly armchair analysts coming to this seemingly simple (but also logical) conclusion, but seeing quite a lot of opinions/articles/blogs etc. suggesting that United will push hard for Oliver Glasner to be their next manager if they find that they need one.

I highly doubt that United have a formal plan at this point, but it would make a lot of sense. He's done wonders at Palace with limited support and investment and the consensus is that he has no intention of signing a new contract with them when his contract runs out at the end of the season. That means you could get him for free at the end of the season or likely with a minimal buy out if you wanted to hire him earlier. He plays a 3-4-2-1 at Palace so he likely wouldn't require a complete roster redo. If you're looking for a more seamless transition between managers that doesn't completely break the bank (at least in terms of acquiring said manager if not in terms of paying off existing manager) then he's a really good option.

I think United are likely to give Amorim a lot of rope this season...more than maybe the fans will want them to give. And ultimately it's better/easier if he, you know, succeeds. But if they're in 15th in November and still want to try and push for a EL spot this season, then maybe they do it then, And if they're mid table in spring far off the European places then I think they almost have to do it.

Just a horrible call. Taylor could not possibly have seen that from his angle and the AR has to see where it's played off the chest.

I will say that Ugarte thus far has been very good at the things he's meant to be good at.

And Sesko has looked dangerous the few times we've actually been able to get him on the ball.

City's 4-3-3 has a huge amount of space between the back 4 and the mid 3 because they are pressing so high with the 3 attackers. If we can skip it over the top there is space. But it also means they dominate midfield.

And Taylor lets another foul by City go without a card.

I just don't see City as that good. But also don't see us capable of scoring to win.

City do seem a step slow this season, well except Haaland I guess

City aren't any good but unfortunately we're worse. That's that.

Haaland has been trying to score that goal all match.

The difference in this game is they have world class talent that can capitalize off of a chance or two. We need to 10 chances to capitalize once. And right now, we can't even fashion 2-3 chances.

This. I swear for the last 3 seasons (more really) we have made scoring goals stupidly difficult for ourselves.
